Yeah. At first glance, it felt weird to me that instead of going for an armor inspired by the other character's design, they just went full cosplay on this one, hair and all. But, to be honest, I feel like X using a shotgun is also weird, and the game does that too, so it matches. And at least we're getting really cool art of characters we love.
All right, Megaman fans! For such a huge selection of characters, at this point we might aswell hope for the ultimate Megaman roster. So let's make it happen: Add all the armors from the series, X1 to X8, for X, Zero and Axl. Gold Armor included; They have Bit, mid-boss from X3, so they could just add: - Byte, Bit's partner (MMX3), who's already a boss; - Mid-bosses X-Hunters from MMX2 Agile, Violen and Serges; - Mid-bosses/hunters from Xtreme series, Zain and Geemel (Xtr 1), and villains Berkana and Gareth from Xtr 2; - High-Max from MMX6; - Spider, the only playable character from Command Mission still to be added to DiVE; Since they have Sigma, Vile and Gate, the villains, why not have: - Red, MMX7 antagonist; - Lumine, MMX8 antagonist; - Dr. Doppler, MMX3 antagonist; - General, from MMX4; - Epsilon, Command Mission's villain; - Vile V, his X8 appearance; - maybe the other Sigma versions; They even have Nana, the navigator from Command Mission, so we might also have: - Double, Iris counterpart for X in MMX4; - Middy and Techno, navigator-like figures from Xtreme games; The operator trio from X8 is in, so why not add the rest of the Maverick Hunters staff from Playstation era: - Signas; - Douglas; - some iteration of the Lifesaver; DiVE have very few characters from classic series, so: - Duo from MM8 (playable in Power Fighters); - Auto and his freaking bazooka, as seen in MM8; - King, antagonist from Megaman and Bass; - Quint, 'future' Megaman from the Gameboy game; - the Megaman killers from Gameboy games, Enker (who is also playable in Megaman Soccer by the way), Punk and Ballade; Crossover characters, huh? Oh, and they could just add some permanent event or minigame as homage to the "racing" stages, so we could look for all the vehicles seen in the series since that bike from X2.
That's a heck of a list but given Taicom's braindead intelligence of the Megaman franchise, almost 90% of them will never be added. They don't even know what the playerbase wants when they're so out-of-reach to the community.
Since we are talking about of all the Rockman Media, even the less knowledgeable, they could add Super Mega Man(7 Chaos Esmerald) from the Archie Comics Crossover with Sonic. Also Can we Talk about Rockman X Manga? Because they can add Marty/Merty(the mermaid girlfriend of X) and X Zero Armor from the Rockman X5 manga, where X uses parts of Zero to fix himself and fight Sigma.

Apparently, there was also a multi-part card series called "Rockman X Mega Mission" that expanded the lore between the games. It has another X doppelganger called iX, new antagonists and many weird armors - one of which even had an action figure that came with a X-version of Rush called Rush Jagd. All of this stuff could easily be used for new X DiVE content.
Wouldn't be great if Dante and Vergil themselves showed up in MMXDiVE and not its versions of X and Zero? I mean come on. Ryu, Chun-Li and Akuma showed up in the collab almost 2 years ago. And then what? Special collab versions of X and Zero...... again!?
For real, and the Devil May Cry characters actually would have fit in gameplay wise unlike the Street Fighter characters, and have some iconic weapons they could add in too.

In my opinion, Bass EXE should be a perfect choice for Vergil’s crossover costume, with the enhanced version of the original body of Bass, with the head of Bass EXE to get the perfect look and fit to be in the MMX timeline and with a cape. Because when everytime I see Vergil with his badass cape, it really reminds me of Bass wearing almost the same cape as Vergil’s cape. Imagine him using a Katana Saber aka B-Saber as his main weapon and attacks like Vergil. Also, Axl should’ve been more like Dante due to the dual pistols and similar personality. As for X, he is more closer towards Nero due to single buster. As for Zero, Trish maybe? Because of the blonde hair? I don’t know. But in this case, I hope Axl gets the DMC treatment as Nero as well.
Disliked for the pure fact that you put in the virgin Subhuman, and not the chad that is Devils Never Cry. I'm happy to see this though. But also kinda overwhelmed with all the limited units and reruns you've been doing lately.
