The problem with the argument to put Samus in Fork Knife is that the player-base by and large doesn’t actually explore the other IP that are included in the game. According to Epic’s own player analytics as well as 3rd party player poll data, players who are unfamiliar with characters or series prior to their inclusion in Fork Knife have not explored their source material. They had some positive results for non-competing media sources like TV and film, but according to their own data the odds are statistically insignificant to the point that it’s entirely within their margins for error.
@@ismailahmed4542the difference is, that Smash actually represents the character and its franchises in the game with the characters moveset, stages, items and trophies. Meanwhile, in Fork Night, the characters are just skins of each other and maybe also bring a weapon or skill with them, which then can be used by everyone. Also, Smash made some Nintendo franchises more popular, which makes sense, since people playing Smash might already be more interested in Nintendo. Fork Night is mainly played on Play Station or PC, which means, that Nintendo is outside of their system.
@@LG555 This actually makes a lot of sense, since the people that play Fork Knife usually just play that game. I can also say from experience that Smash made me interested in a few series, including Metroid.

Samus should absolutely be protected; and much harder than Mario, Kirby, or Link. Keep her far, far away from trash like Fortnite. Keep her even FURTHER away from a movie screen or we may end up with another "Other M" version of Samus. She is the strongest, most badass bounty hunter to travel across the galaxy. This woman single-handedly infiltrates space pirate bases and exterminates them in places where the entire Galactic Federation fails. She should be kept strong, mostly silent, and respected.
A Metroid script in the 00s was made but never made it to the public for approval yet Nintendo secretly stored it in the safe for future expansions. We doubted the Mario movie being animated by illumination and then Zelda being a live action movie
I've never been a fan of the idea that Samus _needs_ to be silent. Super opens with a monologue from her and nobody complains about that. Fusion gave her monologues on a third of the elevator rides and then _full, unambiguous dialogue_ right at the end and nobody complains about that. What, _one_ game fucks up the writing and now she's not allowed to speak?
That's mostly projection, though, since of course she was mostly silent in the older games, because basically every character was. Mario wasn't Wahoo-ing on the NES either. That only stoicism is seen as strength is a tired, outdated mindset, though I'm not surprised it's so prevalent. Apparently the manga Samus is closer to what Other M shows and seems closer to who she actually is.
I hope it leads to a metroid movie/show tbh. Everyone else got other media but metroid (yeah there's a manga but I mean, vast amounts of other media versus having two forms)
I agree with pretty much all of your points. I think if they used even a few of your ideas Metroid Prime 4 and/or Metroid 6 could be blockbuster titles for the series.
One thing that Metroid is about is isolation. Exploration in isolation. Not having any other humans around. When you have too many NPC's in a metroid game, things start to feel wrong quite quick. A movie could work, but this is why making a whole tv series would be hard.
I think the best way to give Metroid broader appeal would be to align it's public image to be closer to other Nintendo games. That way, your average Nintendo fan would be much more likely to become interested in a Metroid game. I'm not saying make it cartoony, but having Prime 4's initial trailer show the prologue which looked gray and linear instead of the more adventurous part later on, would definitely put people off by making them think Nintendo's just making a typical FPS. Getting rid of Metroid's darker themes wouldn't be ideal, but having the marketing focus more on Metroid's intricate and vibrant environments, and less on fear elements or heavy action, would definitely help a lot. Then just lighten it up JUST ENOUGH to bump it down from T to E10 and we're golden. Of course I don't know if they'll really do this, nor do I know if I really want them to because Metroid's darker tones are a great part of many of the games, but I think it would definitely boost sales.
I disagree with the FPS stuff. If Nintendo wants a core FPS to add to their catalog, they should come up with a new IP, not sacrifice the soul of Metroid. The series is not just about exploration, it is also about isolation. The idea of someone inviting their friends to log on for a few rounds of Metroid fills me with a special kind of rage lol
