doing a little quick test of the big tire car trying to weed out all the issues and trying to get it running right and not be a dog off the line.. didn't warm up tires and dad gave me the hit in my cammed stick shift 5th gen.
I see a bunch of comments in here. This is my father and I racing. The z28 was cut up in the 80s and put on big tires. It does have a big block in it with a glide we were trying to iron out some issues with the car and trying to get it running right when we got the car it had been sitting for a long time and needed a ton of tlc we finely got it running enough to drive and younger excited me immediately wanted to race him in my 2010 camaro ss we decided to race them just for the heck of it. The 2010 camaro isnt a v6 like some are asking its a full bolt on cammed stick shift car. I can't remember if it had a gear in it at the time but we still own both vehicles. He told me I could take the hit and I figured I needed it 😂
Im a Ford guy, BUT that 69 is baddass….I would have that in the garage
The classic is still cooler regardless if it wins or not.
Absolutely
Sounds better before the race even started.
Hardly a classic -in the condition it’s in - impressive ,but hardly looking like a 69 - very very modified
By far
This, exactly.
I still prefer the styling of 64 to 72 cars over anything today
Me too
There was no Camaro in 1964…
No 64 no 65 no 66. Sorry
@@theottovanpagelhe didn't say Camaro. He said CARS
I have owned a long list of muscle cars starting in the late 60s, including unrestored museum quality cars. After driving a C8 Corvette I'm sold and no longer have any interest in the older cars. You will need to take one for a drive to ever understand.
The best thing about this race was no matter the outcome a Camaro won. 🏆
Only way to assure it😅😅😅😅😅😅
He spun the tires for 150’ trying to get it to hook
Beautiful car
No warm up by the looks of it
Win or lose, I'm old school to the bone. Not as brand loyal as I used to be back in the day, though. Bringing back the ol skool musclecars of old began with the introduction of the Fox body Mustang with the Fuel Injected 220-230hp 5.0L small block (302ci for the older guys). Finally, much later, came the new retro Dodge Challenger with the new long-awaited Hemi motor. Dodge Chargers came next with the Hemi Power and some stealthy Hi Performance Jeeps showed up as well. Retro Camaros showed up quite late to the party, but all in all, the market for Ol Skool Retro musclecars has brought the spotlight on the Original Ol Musclecars as well. Remember 2 Fast 2 Furious had those rice burner tuner cars racing the ol skool 1969 Yenko Camaro and the 1970 Dodge Challenger? That was one of the MOST exciting parts of the movie for me, IMHO !! I don't HATE, I appreciate. There's something out there for everyone, and what's old becomes new, and vice versa. Street Outlaws on Discovery Channel brought back a lot of attention to ol skool hot rodding and racing; all for the good of street car enthusiast.
I couldn't agree more with you! Both of these vehicles belong to us. All together we've got 4 camaros a vette and a ws6 trans am
I like them both, but I can damn sure tell you which one is easiest to work on!!
*school
From the D?
I see those mustangs sittin for sale these days. Attainable
@@titolombre7004 Indeed
That is a slowest big tire camaro I have ever seen in my life,,,, is it powered by a dodge motor?
283 2 barrel, 143 hp
Ford 302
No it's a Chevy engine cause it shows no need to open the hood they're all the same unlike Fords they have their distinct look that's what keeps you asking. Chevy's 350 dime a dozen, 396 or 454 wow the three usual nothing out of the normal.
@williamschubert3929 Yeah, because an engines looks really mean a lot when it comes to power. Everybody knows that!
Yep slant 6
The NEW SCHOOL CAMARO JUMPED WAY BEFORE THE BETTER OLD SCHOOL CAMARO 🇨🇦😎
I saw that obvious cheat roll forward front tire head start.
A pathetic way to win.
Legend has it, they still haven’t made it to the finish line.
To me that 69 ran strong, not bad for old school technology!!! Go! 69!!
Dude in the 2010 was simply on the throttle pop, dude in the '69 was late. This was more a case of which driver was more accurate, rather than which car was faster. Need 2 more hits to tell the story. Both nice rides though.
Guy in the 2010 likely was the one that honked the horn to start the race, so he knew when to go. Won't have made any difference if the 69 honked, he still would lose...69's a "Turd"
You can tell yourself that all day in your head if it makes you feel better. The 69 will never out run the 5 Gen regardless of timing. I can also almost guarantee by listening to the exhaust that you can hear who ever was in the 5 Gen never fully got on the throttle until about 1/2 distance. 69 is a beautiful car , the fact is it is a fully built big block on Drag Slicks that will never match the advancements and advantages of technology of the new generation builds.
That 69 is all show and no go!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 that's definitely not what I expected!!!
shelby 66 cobra please
It's because he spun, you don't win drag races without hooking up. It's also because he has a low compression engine with a potato idling cam, those are street cruising poser cams
@lollipop84858 he was spinnin for the first couple feet!!! No rubber on the ground and absolutely no smoke!!! Its just an all around poser!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣 and a low compression engine with no boost is an absolute lame duck!!!
me either
@@lollipop84858oo please savE ur exuse bud. The tires were wider then ur mom ok. Traction my butt. Its all noise. Garbage. Get a hellcat. Smoke em both.
That 69 is a 4 wheel version of a harley - loud and slow
Nothing like the roar of old american muscle..
Just like hydro boats.
Old merlin piston power versus turbine boat. The roar is what keeps it alive.😂❤❤❤❤
The 69 must have a powerglide two speed.
Anyone trashing the newer car...why would you expect that technology hasn't improved over the period of 40+ years?
These days, low 12's or high 11's is very easily attainable in a nearly stock car. Suspension has greatly improved as well.
I'm not trashing the '69 at all. In fact, the older ride blows the newer one out of the water in cosmetics. But, the LSx engine platform is pretty amazing in what it can do in stock trim as well as with power mods.
You are absolutely right 50 years of engineering and R&D have come a long way. I own both of those cars dad let me take the hit.
That 5th gen is a full bolt on car with a custom grind cam in it. She's definitely not a slouch
Bro ese Camaro SS Z28 del 69 tiene la misma potencia de Camaro ss del 2013 Bro ese VS obvio que aveces gana el Camaro SS de 2013 y aveces gana el Camaro SS Z28 del 69 Bro
Its not just the engine. The engineering behind chassis design has progressed exponentially more than the engineering behind the power plants.
@@chrislimnios9180the 5th gen’s chassis and irs are impressive
@@660streetperformance2 LS-3 then , correct?
Love those big 50 series (?) back tires on the vintage Camaro.
I'm pretty sure those are hoosier racing slicks on the '69, not street tires.
Late reaction in the 69.Still nicer than new cars
God, I don’t care how badly it did, that 1969 sounded amazing. Just idling you could hear the 302-cid v8 so well
Except it wasn't a 302.
I didnt see where he said what engine was in 69. Chances are its not a 302 but how do you know its not. You stated that as if you built the car. Did i miss where he said it doesnt or even whats under the hood. @@Carl_Jr
@@charlesgreer7245 Pretty assuming comment which is not worthy of a constructive reply. Here's an idea . . . research. Read the other comments instead of just jumping on here acting like an sshat, then making condescending remarks toward people you don't even know.
@Carl_Jr ok, so what comment did the owner of the car reply to what size engine it was then? You said I was assuming, I do know for a fact that Chevy offered a 302 in the z 28 models only through 1969. So please, since you said I didn't read all the comments, where was the one where the owner said what size it was. Or are you the one making an assuming comment. I also noticed you said my comment wasn't worthy of a response, yet you gave your two cents anyway.
@@charlesgreer7245 I said it wasn't worth a constructive reply. And by "assuming" I mean, your comment assumed that I didn't know what I was talking about. But that's ok. Again, if you're interested in what engine is in the car, do as I did and read the comments. I'm not doing it for you after that patronizing attitude of yours.
Not a Mustang guy but when they redid it in the early 2000s I thought hey it looks good! Saying that I was even more excited when the Camaro was rumored of being released, but was sorely disappointed when it actually came out...tiny windows and meek performance. I really believe if the windows were a bit bigger it would change the whole look.
Did the 69 have a 283 in it or something?
The 69 understands you have to lose a few till the stakes get high. It's called sandbagging.
Make no mistake, there's women who wait for the man and machine with the best time..best car tune ever.
when the odds are right, you just blow by..........................Rev on the redline by Foreigner
All bark, no bite??
That 69 was a slug!
sure was
Not really. Has nice power for a daily driver.
@@TheoneGodfatherThem weren’t daily driver tires.
@@Ojb_1959 I doubt it gets raced at the local track much. Looks more like a daily driver/show car to me.
@@DS-ss396 opposite of my old girlfriend she used to like to 69 a slug😂
The Z-28 has a dinky 302. I always preferred the 427.
Most likely a 350.
Yeah, the 302 did not have much torque down in the low RPM's, but above 3200, they were screamers to over 7000 RPM. Your 427 couldn't rev that high, and actually the HP rating for the "dinky" 302 was 290. With headers and a good tune, they were closer to 450, which is very close to the same output as the 427, just not as much torque.
Like others on this thread, I am totally an old-school guy. While they were getting ready to launch, I noticed the super wide tires on the rear end and the racing wheels and narrow tires on the front of the old-school Camaro and noted how modified it must be versus what looks like a showroom, new Camaro. I was stunned and amazed when the new one beat it from start to finish. Like others on here I still like the old one, but I’m still stunned and amazed. The new one won. Nuff Said.
I knew I heard a big block but was/am reluctant to expound on it being driven similarly to how the Cleveland Browns play ball. The 69's fatty tires were ice cold and it's driver shifted early
That 69 has a all show no go cam. Just for the sound. you need a 383 at least to hang with an SS and a high compression one at that. 10:1 with some good dart or afrs with a solid 106 to 108 cam, and some 3:55s mated to a th400. Take that SS easy.
That z28 was an automatic?... they came with 4speeds. I don’t think you could order one with an automatic.
No you couldn't 4 speed only. Had one in my day..
He spun out...those slicks are meant to be wamed up
69 couldn't get out of it's own way. Sounded like an open header stock small block.
@Jeff Spicolli bro small tube headers that are open can make any car sound lumpy. Look at my video of a real racecar where I get the new slicks ready
Thats the first time we tested it. It's a big block with super comp headers. Had a couple plug wires that were burnt/burning its running a little better now.
All 69 z/28’s came from the factory with a 302ci and 4 speed manual
@@RRamsey-ry3jywrong
@whereRbearsTeewhere do you get your information from ? Alll 1967 to 1969 Z/28s were 302 , 4 speed cars . They didn't come any other way .
The 2010 left early.
I don’t think the 2010 Camaro left early at all. I am more inclined to believe that the guy in the 69 Camaro didn’t hear the third beep after he put his car all up on the converter. If he had half the motor and gears that he has rear tires, he should’ve caught that newer SS real quick anyway.
Big ass tires for no reason 😂
Judging by the way it idled, the '69 should have pulled a lot harder than that. It sounded like the '69 only had the pedal half way down.
The z28 had a 2 speed power glide trans with stall. It might not take the whole shot but it'll catch up before your know it
That 69 looked better than new ones today
The new cars are sooo much better! The oldies are now the dogs.
Pure 80s Pro Street. Don't see those Centerlines everyday. Ya did, back in the 80s. I graduated in 87, and those rims were hugely popular. My school parking lot was full of muscle cars.
I do agree that LS/LT motors are bad asses , never owned one but would like to. These motors are even winding up under the hoods of Fords that should tell you a lot!
Yep ls cars are pretty dang fast. Hopefully I'll have that little blue 5th gen ready this year. Going to do some videos on it maybe install series? Not really sure yet if anyone would be interested in any build series on the cars
Either the back tires on the classic car are for show, or the classic car was sandbagging.
yeah definitely need to tune that carb
I will take the new one every time. Faster stock, faster modded. More comfortable, handles better and you can drive it coast to coast without issues. Old cars are cool, but terrible in most areas when compared to new cars.
The classic is is at the top of the heap.
Newer car had less horsepower. Yet the gearing in the transmission makes all the difference
It’s a matter of getting the power to the ground most efficiently but regardless for me it’s the 1960’s style
Better hole shot from the 2010 made all the difference. Love it . . Chevrolet muscle !!
Never would have thought
All show and no go! Other than for the look of it the 69 Camaro could have had plenty of traction if he put the same size tires on the back as he has on the front, that’s a at best a mid 14 second car on a good day.
Does that 69 Camaro have the same engine as a Pontiac Firefly?
So that's what the back of a camaro looks like. All I ever see is the front end in my rear view mirror.
Is the Z-28 a 302dz?
I saw in another comment that the OP said it was a big block and had burnt plug wire issues.
Kinda sad. The tubbed 69 with a built engine should of taken the newer one with no problems. Oh well
Which one is which...?
the
classic is the real car
made of actual
metal instead of Japanese tin…classics will always rule!
*A Blue Camaro is rare ... Never seen 1 of those before*
That car does not need mini tubs
Una Joyita ese Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 de 1969 Bro Aunque ese era un Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 302 de 1969 vs 2010 Chevrolet Camaro 2SS

what RPM was the 69 at!! like maybe 2,500. moved about as fast as a civic
Love the Classic Camaros and have one, however the new cars are so damn good and comfortable. Would take $100K to make my 1969 anything near any new car I own, and still would be a long way off.
In Texas we call that Big Hat and No Cattle!
i had a bone stock all original 69 z/28 for almost 25 yrs and also owned a 2010 ss camaro at the same time--never did race them side by side but always knew the 2010 was faster
Who won?
That 69 with that choppy cam and tub looks like a 9 second pull the front wheels off the ground car. Turns out it is a 9 second car…..in the 1/8th mile on a good day.
The '69 sounded like it would be badass, but sounds can be deceiving.
That guy does not deserve to drive a 69 Camaro, come on bro, with those 33 rear sliks tires and mini tubbing at least warm up the tires and use a launch control or transbrake, of what ever, but you deside to go straight to death, 🙄
That 69 is all bark and no bite.
The 69 had no timing it listen to it. Also what converter sweet baby Jesus, Big tire car?
the newer one was a V6
Newer one is not a v6 😂
It's a cammed ls3 with a gear in it
Redo! The new one got a jump which is all it took. Pretty even matchup though.
Old School Horsepower is nomatch for todays Muscle...500 to 1000 HP is the Norm right off the Show Room Floor😮
I want to no if the 2010 is stock or not
Far from stock
The 69 wins decisively without even hitting the gas!!!
If you’re spinning you’re not winning!
Im 57 and old school too. But you gotta get to reality newer cars are faster handle waaaayyyy better PERIOD.... ya old boomers just gotta admit that sheeeeeeeeshhhh already😂😂😂😂
Y'all sure love how we build 'em in Detroit. You're welcome 😎🎸🤘🏼
What in the Wild, Wild, World of Sports……
2015 Z28 best Camaro ever!
I had a 1971 formula firebird with a 400 auto. That car would had more jump than necessary. 😐
Badass. Todays technology fuel injection, transmissions etc.. old school no match unless a blower and nitrous. Ill take old school too but wouldnt turn down a black manual ss today!
That was not an original 69 Z28, they were all 4 speeds!
Chevrolet used to make great cars and I was raised on gm cars but now we only drive fords.
Ahh, the old days.
Z28 - 66 version . Wins by a l a n d slide.
Love the old school
Love the look of the 69, but it needs to have some H.P. with tires that big.
The 69 was not up to power. All tire no motor. Looked good though.
When you're choppin like that, you're suppose to be long gone against a stock engined camaro.
The new Camaro had the advantage of less power which favored the road conditions. Had the 69 been able to get traction, it would have easily won.
New Camaro got the jump off the line difficult to catch up no matter.
If that classic would have peddled right it would have been over before it started. And I am a ford guy
Modern muscle has more hustle.
That 69 seem like it never got over about 4000 rpms. Bet he was sand bagging big time.
You lying to me, I know I just didn’t see a stock hard tire car run with a big tire car on slicks . That’s so embarrassing 😂😂
Wth was that? It looked they were headed to church 😂
So who won?
The '69 was a lot slower than it sounded
Nope. The guy driving the 69 never got the ram's up.
The 69 had tires pressures not lowered for max traction. No matter, the 69 is more desirable for my taste
Now run the old Camaro against the electric version! I seen Jay Leno get his doors blown off by an E car
all show and no go
