I still don't understand why actors having a wage gap is an issue, don't the actors negotiate their own salaries before signing the contract? Plus an actor with a higher star power will obviously have a higher quote. I do believe in fair compensation, but i also believe that experience and exposure to the industry counts for an actor's bankability.
At this point, with their prices, password sharing is more or less of a necessity. My family knows all too well. Them cracking down on it is going to be a real headache.
I'm the only one in my house that has a Netflix account anymore, but I created a user for my parents to watch stuff they wanted.....only time I've ever shared my password was with my brother and sister-in-law and that was just a one-time thing
They both separately negotiated their contracts. If Claire Foy thought she wasn't being paid enough she should have turned down the role until someone paid her what she thinks she is worth.
I know there was a lot of controversy around 13 Reasons Why but we need more shows like this. Suicide needs to stop being a taboo subject so people can feel more comfortable talking to someone
Dishonorable Mention: *SO. MANY. CANCELLATIONS! -You know that one kid that gets bored with their brand new toy after playing with it for only 5 seconds? If even THAT MUCH? Netflix has essentially become THAT KID! Over the years, Netflix has cancelled SEVERAL promising shows after just one season, usually before the show can reach it's true potential. They're also not above betraying their own shows too, such as what they did to Inside Job for example. Bottom line: At the end of the day, it doesn't matter if you're one of the lucky big names or someone still struggling for your big break. Backstabbing. Is still. Backstabbing!
Netflix is finding itself in a position where they've basically trapped themselves in an endless content production death spiral. They need to spend hundreds of millions of dollars every year on a whole swath of new series so they can keep viewer interest and their stock value up, but in order to pay for the next year's batch of new shows and movies, they have to cancel all but the most successful/least expensive stuff from their previous year. They're coming into a situation where if a show is not Stranger Things levels of popular from day one, then it's not worth keeping around in their eyes.
I worked for Netflix for almost two years and i can assure you: If they keep on with these dumb decisions (raising prices, not sharing passwords) they will be over faster then people think
well i never forgave them for the netflix animation scandal. netflix seemed like the perfect place for animation. but noooooooo. it just had to be to demanding and many other reasons. i get it, animations expensive, but so is the thirst of cartoon lovers.
People should be paid well according to how an actor or actress performance not gender or color. People should should be paid based on how good the performance is. people should be encouraged to be their best at what ever they do no matter who it is or color or sex.
I miss the old Netflix. Living in Europe, you already get the short end of the stick - lots of Netflix content is not available here. Then Disney got greedy and now Netflix has so much low quality content, it's barely worth watching. I'm using Netflix mostly to watch K-dramas nowadays.
I still love "House of Cards" and since Kevin Spacey was not found guilty in court, I wish he could have finished the series. The final season really sucked.
Okay, but what if I want to watch netflix on my tv when I'm home and on my phone when I go out or travel. Am I expected to pay an upcharge to watch from my own damn account that I already pay for?
They really should have censored Hannah's graphic suicide right away, since they knew that it could trigger certain audience members. It seemed more for shock value, than anything else, and they finally edited it, two and a half years too late.
Even then, the show should have ended after season one because the story was already over. The book the show was based on had its issues, at least her death was implied to be a drug overdose.
I remember watching that scene in high school, the show was basically written to be binge watched and by the time it got to that scene it was super shocking and brutal, but what really scared me was how short it was, as soon as she was done this thought popped into my head “that’s it, it only takes a couple seconds to do that.” That was a horrifying thought and it scared me.
@@audreygrace568 I read the book before watching the show in high school and my mom had a discussion with my siblings and I when the show was getting tons of attention because of its subject matter. While yes, mental illness deserves to be addressed, showing a graphic scene of suicide is not the best way to do it.
To be fair, 13 Reasons Why should've never been released on Netflix at all because of that. This show makes Twilight look like To All the Boys I've Loved Before
I disagree. It absolutely should've been shown and still shoul be in all the graphic detail. Suicide isn't a fairy tale send off. It's cruel and painful and watchers need to know.
They need to stop making original series and after one or 2 seasons cancel it with a cliff hanger! Looking at you Netflix with dark crystal. There was a fan base there you just didn't give it time to rack up viewership and your marketing failed.
I’m selfish - I refused to share my password on a permanent basis, other people’s shows ruin my algorithms, and if they see a show I’m watching and they like, it makes me lose where I am! Get your own account! 🤷🏻♀️😂
Okay... I get the idea, but I'd say pairing Porta dos Fundos' special with all the other stuff in this video is not fair. When you put it together with Goop's pseudo-scientific bullshit, or straight up sexual predators, you're taking away from the fact that they just exercised free speech in a comedy show and were the target of a hate crime. It kind of sounds like blaming the victim. And honestly, their previous special showed Jesus as a selfish asshole, but these zealots weren't bothered by it, no bombings happened because of it. What they couldn't take was the idea (obviously fictional, no one is saying that's a historical fact) of Jesus as a gay man.
Interesting bit of propaganda. Netflix is disrupting some powerful entities. I respect how little the platform, and subscribers, care about the good opinion of the entities it's upsetting. Start with Hollywood, hypocrites. This video reminded me of why I stopped watching these channels.
In regards to the Mo’nique one, i don’t think it had as much to do with the fact that she and Sykes are black women but more because those two in particular are just not that funny and won’t draw in as many viewers.
it was a mistake to remove that scene from 13 reason why, mental health, sex abuse, loneliness, suicide, etc, is more relevant these days and they need to show the true reality, that show the complete uncensored show is a timeless masterpiece
The fact 13 Reasons Why managed to get a complete four season run while 80% of the rest of Netflix's lineup barely manage to get one season, two if they're lucky, is one of the most disgusting things Netflix ever did. That dog crap show glamorized suicide as the solution to all your problems, they had verifiable proof that it led to an uptick in teenage suicides, and instead of casting it into the garbage heap where it belonged, they kept it going for longer than it had any right to because it brought in viewers. What a sickening company.
Much ado about nothing, in that these days companies come n go, they’re up they’re down. However, there IS a bit of ‘nastiness’ on Netflix’s part. They COULD be dissolved and regroup elsewhere. That edge is just a tad too sharp now…Netflix better do better, or my money votes loudly elsewhere. 🙏🏻🤔
The biggest scandals from Netflix that left me outraged was 13 Reasons Why, Cuties, Blonde, and the Monster anthology series. 13 Reasons Why- Showing a very graphic scene of Hannah committing suicide and trivializing mental illness. Cuties- Sexualizing 11-year-old actresses and still having the movie on their service despite the major backlash. Blonde- Exploiting Marilyn Monroe by spreading lies for profit and triggering viewers who went through sexual assualt, abortion, childhood trauma and/or miscarriages Monster anthology series- Humanizing Jeffrey Damher and not involving the victims’ families and possibly doing the same thing with the Menedenez brothers with the trailer just released yesterday.
@@trinaq I want to clarify that while the Menendez brothers aren't serial killers per se as they just killed their parents, they still killed more than one person.
You do realize that Claire Danes wasn't even mentioned? You think misidentifying the actress in the lead role of the series makes you clever? I knew who Claire Foy was even before The Crown. And Matt's resume since his time as The Doctor has been less than impressive.
I would think that if my job were to play the king or queen, therefore being the star of the show, then i would expect the same as or more. But ive never seen the show, so i dont even knpw how major her role is
I have been a subscriber to Netflix since when they used to mail out one DVD to your house and then you would return it when you were done. I've been with them for a very very long time. I believe that I'm about to cancel my subscription from them because of one huge issue that has been addressed to them and they will not give you an answer. I see the thumbnail of a movie that I want to watch on Netflix, it's in English, the synopsis is in English, when I go to turn the movie on it's not in English it's in another language. All of their foreign films, which I like, are marketed as American films. When I contacted them about this issue they told me that it is the way that their business is setup and that it is the same in every other country. So I said hold on! So you're telling me that if I lived in India and I turned on Netflix and I see a movie with a Hindi title and I go to play it and it's in English that's the same thing that you do all over the world?.... I have no problem with foreign films I like them very much except there is a time and a place when I want to read while I'm watching a movie. But don't show me a movie on Netflix with Noomi Rapace called The Trip and I read the synopsis in English however whenI turn it on it's in Norwegian! And I refuse to watch dubbed films, they are horrible. The actor isn't even doibg the dubbing so there is really bad voice over actors. It takes me out of the story. And as I say this I bet their prices are going up. I'd like to thank my VPN service for helping me get what I want. 😂

I think Netflix Canada is allowing password sharing again. At first I wasn't able to use my friend's anymore, but now I can
Claire Foy getting less than Matt Smith-mind-boggling, prehistoric.
Matt Smith had already done DOCTOR WHO. Claire Foy was a relative unknown at that point. At least in the States.
They both separately negotiated their contracts. If Claire Foy thought she wasn't being paid enough she should have turned down the role until someone paid her what she thinks she is worth.
Matt Smith was already a known actor who went on to appear in other widely held and regarded shows like house of the dragon or morphius.
Foy should get more than smith

Cracking down on password sharing was not good
That wasn’t so much of a scandal as it was a really bad corporate business decision that angered consumers.
The stabbing in the back of Henry Cavill on The Witcher.
Canceling Warrior Nun was the last straw for me. #CancelNetflix
Oh how we love the innovation of Netflix. Basically killed cable tv. But even they, themselves are not perfect.
At least the cable television business model doesn’t run the risk of crashing due to market over-saturation and too much competition.
