    Your breakdown is spot on

I’m not that far into the video yet, but so far I agree with most everything you’ve said! I’m a major Swiftie, she’s my favorite artist, but I’m 30 years old and not a “chronically online” Swiftie you might say… by that I mean, I’m not in the camp that Taylor is above criticism or on Twitter all day fighting for her lol. She’s a billionaire for starters, I despise the way her merch system operates, there’s a handful of things I’d criticize. I also listen to plenty of other artists as much as I listen to Taylor so even though she is one of the biggest (and IMO one of the best!) she can’t win everything ever.
Anyways, I will happily take 31 songs from her personally LOL, you’re right about that! Admittedly when I first listened to all 31 at once, going until 2-3am, I wasn’t sure how I felt about the album. I recognized the insane lyricism! But I think when something is brand new to your brain it all starts blending together - especially when it’s a more mellow album like this (I felt the same about Folklore’s first listen!). But by my 3rd listen the songs started individualizing in my brain, and I could hear that they actually are all different and that’s when I started falling in love. Now, I’m obsessed. Like I mentioned I had the same experience with Folklore; I actually found it boring at first and thought it was going to be the first Taylor album I didn’t like! Now I love it. It’s weird how that happens but what I’m noticing online is that a lottt of people are the same way. It really takes time to digest a body of work like this and I do feel like some of the reviews that popped up mere hours after release were critics who had one listen and also probably were already growing sick of hearing about her. Also agree that the overexposure is not her fault and I feel it’s kinda unfair to her.
That said, music is art and art is subjective! Some people aren’t gonna like it, or even any of her music, and that’s fine. I will never understand people arguing about that. I completely agree that BOTH sides are taking this wayyy too far - the manic swifties and also the critics and/or Taylor haters. That’s one of the things I hate about the internet. Things will be fine, everything’s normal, then without fail everyone takes it too far and it becomes this big thing.
Lastly I do disagree with the criticism that she needs to stop working with Jack! First of all, no one ever mentions Aaron (besides you! that was good to hear lol!) even though they work together just as much and IMO Aaron’s songs sound more alike than Jack’s songs. Aaron’s songs are all slow, mellow, piano type and Jack has produced some 1989 & Rep pop plus Folkmore, if anything he’s more diverse! Second, I don’t know if it’s because Taylor has reinvented herself and her genre so much, but I hate seeing people, swifties included, demand that she does it with every new album. TTPD is apparently not different enough in sound… do people tell The Rolling Stones to stop making rock music, or Drake to stop making rap?! That seems like an unfair demand placed on Taylor alone. If she stayed in the mellow synth-y sound her whole career that’s no different than what most other artists do. And no matter what she does there’s always gonna be complaints so it’s damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Just adding that this isn’t criticism towards you at all, your points about this were your opinion and eloquently delivered. Only sharing my opinion too! I can see you and I have very different tastes in her music (I looove the 1989 vault tracks, don’t like Robin, etc.) which is only natural when it comes to music!
Final point 😅 TTPD came two years after Midnights. Besides Folklore & Evermore, she’s stayed with the 2 year album cycle. It only feels like more because of the re-records, which in Taylor’s defense she didn’t realize would become A Thing. She thought they’d just be quietly recorded to replace the old ones. That plus the NFL and whatever else had led people to tell her to take a break but like, I don’t want her to?! I like the two year new album cycle and I’d be happy with even more 😂
All of this to say… a lot of the criticism is unfounded/unfair, but also the way that the Swifties go overboard with shit gives them a bad name and makes things worse. Attacking people in droves is ridiculous - like Joe, who did nothing wrong. They can also be hypocritical, like loudly hating Matty and signing petitions but then after hearing TTPD are fine with him now lol. Or back to Joe, loving him until they broke up and then it’s all “death to Joe”. It drives me MAD! It’s like, sometimes grown ups just don’t work out guys! Stanning an artist so much that you’ll flip on a dime without even knowing what happened is disgusting and insane. It’s just all ridiculous and I hate to use this silly phrase, but everyone - and I mean EVERYONE - needs to touch grass 💀😭
    Sorry for the novel!

Slay Patrick Berger because I Look In People’s Windows is incredible lol! It was fun to hear your favorites from the record! Florence’s voice coming in on Florida!!! gives me chills.
For me, it’s probably easier to list the songs I DON’T like than the songs I do: Fortnight (boring, lyrics are confusing, no catchy melody - IMO!), thanK you aIMee (don’t like the sound, don’t care for the lyrics. I understand it but it doesn’t resonate with me), Robin (I don’t have kids and therefore it doesn’t resonate at all, and the melody or lyrics isn’t good enough to keep listening). So that’s it, those are my only 3 dislikes! Really loving this album.

Okay I’m sorry I can’t stop commenting!!! I too worry about Travis as a muse for her songwriting 🤣 this video is a joy to listen to and truly the definition of an unbiased review! I agree with so much, for example “standing up for only what affects her”. There are both things to criticize her for, and things people say about her that are unfair.

@@amandaleighplans Thanks so much for sharing all your thoughts to my breakdown!! I agree and would have liked to have mentioned the whole thing with many artists only working with the same sound and producer and not getting as much flak for it as Taylor, I guess personally I just don't care for Jack's sound when he does synthpop. He works better for an artist like Lana for me because Lana is mostly all piano and guitar which suits Jack's minimal production style far better but I agree it's not fair to pin Taylor working with one or two producers as such a cardinal sin when most in the industry do it as well...

@@ArthurDeaville as I got more in the video, I could absolutely see why you felt that way!!! I understand you’re not as big of a fan of Jack’s synth pop, so it makes total sense that you’d both prefer the albums without that and also want her to move forth and work with new people. And you are certainly not the only one who feels that way!! I totally get it from the angle of personal music taste :) anyways, thanks for a great video and sorry for making you read a chapter book! 🤣

I was blown away by this album! Didn’t have high expectations BUT I’m not a fan of her bops, more a fan of her songwriting and lyricism!
And this album grows on you relentlessly
And it’s just an opinion, but this album should 100% be considered for album of the year, simply because of the talent behind it

I hate that you have to start your review with kind of a disclaimer that you like her and stuff because if not you might get hate from the fandom. Ive seen even press websites doing that, people shoud calm down, Taylor is human, can do wrong.
The first thing I thought when I was listening TTPD was, girl, please get another producer. She definitely has to take a break get some rest and come back refreshed with new ideas.
To me it’s an ok album but the swifties always will say it’s pure gold.
For me, I only care about music, not about her personal life. This album feels like reading a tabloid.
On the other side songs are not just lyrics, there also music, and I think this album prioritizes so much the lyrics that the music is bland, makes you not care about the music which endes up making you not care about the lyrics.
And also, I preordered the album (first and last time apparently) only to realize there’s the anthology. So I got half album? 🫤 And not just that, the Anthology won’t be released on CD, so yeah, I just got half album and I can’t get the other half, which of course is the part that I was closer to enjoy 🫤🫤

Taylor's marketing strategies with physical releases are hella shady...

@@ArthurDeaville In her defense it’s the industry in general, it’s been a few times i see a special edition or a new album just available on streaming or vinyl.
But in her not defense you’re right, I was about to spend hundreds of dollars for a copy of the Midnights late night edition when my good judgement decided against it. That was one thing, but to me this is outrageous, how can you release a double album but just one part on physical? Because there not two albums, it’s just one double album, it doesn’t make sense to release just one half 😡
Anyway, lesson learned, don’t pre order albums 😅
