"Ey Irân" (Persian: ای ایران) is an Iranian patriotic song that serves as the country's unofficial national anthem. The music was composed by Ruhollâh Xâleqi, and the lyrics were written by Hossein Gol-e-Golâb in 1944. This anthem was first performed by Qolâm-Hossein Banân.
Today, the anthem is mostly used by the Iranian opposition, as the Islamic Republic of Iran has its own national anthem.

Kidding, obviously. Alexander may have conquered Iran, but he never ruled over us; he died immediately thereafter, only age 32. He actually started to adopt our culture and customs because the Achaemenids were just that awesome - and I’m not being facetious, the Persians really were the greatest empire on earth at that time. After his death, his generals divided his conquest (aka the Persian Empire), but weren’t able to keep it; the short lived dynasty that ruled over Iran, the Seleucids (named for Seleucus) never even held all of Iran and began losing parts of it within a generation or two.

@@MaryamofShomal The truth is, Iranians nowadays are just intermixed descendants of the Turks and Mongols. The Turks and Mongols are the ones who really got a number on the Iranians. I don't mean to offend but unfortunately this is how history turned out.
The Mongols massacred the inhabitants of Iran by tenfold, reducing their population to just little. Afterwards, Turkic tribes ruled over Iran. And this massacre indirectly resulted in Iran being forcefully converted to Twelver Shi'ism in the 1500s. Ironically the Safavids were also Turks, from Azerbaijan.
The Safavids are the reason why Iran is like this as it is, because Twelver Shi'ism is evil and doesn't fit in with the hearts of the people. Afghanistan is Sunni, Pakistan is Sunni, Tajikistan is Sunni and many of them despite any issues in their countries, have a firm bond with Islam and that's because Sunni Islam is the true Islam.

The REAL anthem of Iran
The best compromise: The Shah and constitutional monarchy.
That’s kinda how I feel, and I’m not even a monarchist - I feel it’s the only way for all Iranians to get what they want and deserve.
With that being said, those who want a monarchy of any kind have to accept two facts of reality: that Reza Pahlavi doesn’t want to be king but will likely do it for us out of love and duty; and that his heirs are all women. I think the latter is something all monarchists need to vocally accept en masse.
