I've been binge-watching your Australian trip and I'm loving it. I wish you guys the best for the upcoming days and keep making great videos. You both are the sweetest couple I've ever seen
No pussyfooting around regarding your outgoings and extra expenses. I really appreciate that. I subscribed to your channel because your info and tips are top notch for travelling with a big ass caravan. Well done you two 👍👍
We think if we’re going to share our budget why BS? There is literally nothing to gain 😂 We (Hayley) track our expenses to the cent so it is as accurate and first hand as it comes. Appreciate the kind words 🙏🏼
Guys, thank you so much for sharing. We have had the same pipe dream for a long time. Also the same rule as Grandma since we have been married (15yrs) Never go to bed angry at each other..talk it out! But we plan on working around Aus as well and also upgrading our camper to eventually a caravan. The budget was a great outlook for us as our last trip was more caravan parks than free camps. Thanks for sharing ❤
Our pleasure & thank you for watching! The budget is a hot topic, we include absolutely everything that is involved with travelling like insurances etc so that it gives people like yourself a pretty good baseline for what it costs to travel long term! It’s definitely not as cheap as it used to be!!
Very refreshing Vlog compared to some other Vlogs of around Australia trips. Only just started watching yours and it's nice to see a Vlog without Ad content embedded in the Vlog. Keep up the great Vids both of you.
Hi Paul & thanks for the comment. Ideally what we create is something we want to look back on in years to come - appreciate the kind words & tuning into the series 😁
We’re loving your great adventures. We are in our (very) early 60s and starting out on a full travel adventure too. Hopefully we meet you on the road some day. 👍
Brad if your like myself and love the Ned Kelly story i can highly recommend when your touring Victoria make the Ned Kelly Museum in Glenrowan a must see, if you can arrange it get the husband to give you a tour through, his talk is really really enjoyable, I spent near on 2 hours there alone walking and reading the information plates set out.
Excellent and informative video. I have watched a lot of touring Australia vids while waiting for our motor home build and yours are excellent. Best wishes, phil
Thanks for the kind words Phil & leaving a comment which helps suggest our channel to others! Safe travels when the MH comes mate & in the meantime all the best from us 😊
Cheers Henry. It is a pleasure to be here in this beautiful state! Appreciate you following along for the ride mate. Hearing people enjoy the trip as a whole and follow along makes our day.
Great vid. We really enjoy how you are both so down to earth and honest. We've been on the road 12 months and we've found it has cost us a lot more than expected so it's kinda nice to hear we are not alone.
Thanks for the really informative & very honest video! Really interesting & detailed info! Definitely food for thought. You both really have your heads screwed on, bloody great team you both make! There’s a line from an old Cold Chisel song that springs to mind when it’s all said & done - `the money I save won’t buy my youth again’ no matter what it costs you when you look back you’ll never regret it. Wish you both the very best for the rest of your travels, such a great channel! Always get a kick out of seeing your latest adventures!
Thanks for sharing guys. Hubby and myself travelled Australia for 6 and a half years, we loved it! Love seeing your travels and adventures. Have fun and stay safe. This is the best time of your lives.
The recap video at the beginning was so good, and all of that in only 5 months. I’m so glad you left earlier than you initially planned, imagine missing out on that epic Cape trip with that epic crew. And great to hear that it’s not just a 12 month trip now :) I really love watching you both and all of your adventures. Sounds like you are on top of how to manage your budget now, I’m sure you will be able to make it work so you can continue to live this wonderful lifestyle 😊😊😊. Thanks for yet another great episode. ❤

Appreciate the comment Steve! Hope you gained some insight into what your in for! 3 months is when it really comes up quick on you! Sounds good to me mate. Catch you on the road 🤙🏼😊
Hi guys we are full time travellers and have been for a number of years. It was definitely a learning curve at the start but it soon became a great lifestyle change for us. The current weather situation in Australia at the moment is a great example of the benefits of being nomadic. If you don’t like the weather just move. We will keep a look out for you and say hi in the mean time safe travels.
How good is it mate. It is kind of fun watching and dodging the weather. We learnt quick the best plan is to have no plan! Sounds great David, looking forward to it!

Fantastic video. 👏🏼👍🏼 The experiences and memories will outweigh the money spent. Heaps of work out there if you need. Enjoy that wine 🍷 and keep up the great videos 👏🏼🥂
Hi Roslyn. I am so sorry that is happening to you guys over there 😓 That area has had some crazy weather over the last few years right. Like 3 1/100 year floods? What a beautiful part of the world to grow up. We filmed an episode in the Barossa (ironically we were feeling extremely homesick there!) and were blown away by its beauty. I imagine the Gilbert Valley is much the same. Stay safe & all the best. Hayley & Brad ❤️
Thanks for an excellent video. Budget looks spot on to me. I think realistically the days of staying under $1 k per week are over especially with raises in the prices of fuel, food and accomodation. Very interesting hearing your budget items. Enjoy!
👏🏻👏🏻well done Something to think about is the Christmas,New year period is one of the best paying periods of the year and plenty of hours, so more money over a very short time frame . Safe travels
I installed a shower hand piece with an on/off switch on it. About $14 on eBay. Get wet, turn off and do the soap bit, turn on and rinse. Been using it for a couple of years now. Saves heaps of water😊
Really awesome info and much appreciated that you took the time. I would like to offer that it is time you guys got a composting toilet! All this talk of dump points and putting chemicals in the bowl etc does not apply to composting toilets! They are great, no smell, last for weeks. And you either pee outside as you indicated or it is separated to the pee bin which when getting close to full, can be drizzled under bushes somewhere every few days. Please consider as that seems to be your one big bugbear and really does not have to be. Other than that, all good, love your channel and will wait with bated breath for your next update! 😁
Thanks Clissa! We are pretty happy with the chem toilet for now & have switched to eco traveller products as the napisan wasn't cutting the mustard. Haven't really looked into the composting toilets, maybe in the future if we build a new van it will be something to consider
$300 a week on fuel isn't too bad considering what you're driving and towing, as for your total cost's I'd rather spend that around Australia than go to Bali or Thailand. I've heard other youtubers say its costing them $1000 a week to do what your doing.
Hi there, 31ks in 5 months wow ,l'm like you the 50thousand for a years travel, am going to have to re-evaluate my travel plans, thanks for the video you have really helped me. Happy Travels. 😃👍
Gday Keith. It certainly has been an exxy start to the trip. A lot of the expenses have been mostly unavoidable & the cost of living makes it super hard to keep it under that magic $1000/wk figure. Glad we could help mate, that's what this community is all about!
Thanks for watching Michael, depending on where & how you travel it could be a lot cheaper. We spend 3 months in SA & averaged $900/wk. You can checkout the video here - ruclips.net/video/LOcluTteQz8/видео.html 😁 happy camping

Hey guys! Stoked you enjoyed and thanks for watching :) We really appreciate you touching base, life on the road at this time of year hit us pretty hard being the first xmas away from family. Lucky we have met some awesome people along the tracks and have some plans already with them. Hope you guys have a great Xmas & the weather turns it on for us down here :D
When you say you transfer money from your savings weekly, if you dont mind sharing what is that figure? I searched Fraser Island and your video come up and ended up watching your Cape videos as well as we are venturing there in July. You'll love WA. Great video guys 😊
We transfer $1100 usually, sometimes more if we know we’ll be spending more that week or sometimes less if we have money banked up from previous weeks. Thanks for watching the videos! We are so keen for WA! 😍
Interesting video guys you can't get away from the 3 main expenses but i find a fuel is handy also the money you have just spent on the car and van should last a long time all the best Ron
Cheers Ron. We do what we can to reduce those categories but it is tough. That's the plan, it was a big service for the old girl. I reckon with only 70 000 kms on her she has a bit of life left!!
Great episode guys. You guys roll pretty much similar to us it seems. With that upgraded power system you will be able to freecamp more and for longer now. We only go to van parks to do washing if we cant pull up beside a fresh water steam. I rate the nothingness and remoteness over van parks anyday. Stay cool Kedron kids💪
Interesting video guys, if I can give you something to consider when you get to WA, the later months of the year are generally very windy on the lower and mid west coast so the early months are much more enjoyable. Also there is so much work in WA currently you should be able to top up the bank account easily
Great video enjoy South Australia highly recommend McLaren Vale wine region area and Port Noarlunga and Chrities Beach in South Australia. WA heaps of work on you won't have any issues getting jobs and lots of east coast travellers come here WA is the best biased as live here but explore South West and All the coast we have amazing spots all over WA. Stay safe and enjoy your travels living the dream good set you have as well.
Hi Mellanie! Apologies for the late response, RUclips somehow flagged your comment up as spam 🤷♂️ We are looking forward to WA, SA has set the standard pretty high in terms of beaches etc but everyone is telling us WA is better! Will do, we appreciate the kind words and you taking the time to leave a comment 😁
@@our.australia.trip. enjoy :-) lol all good I get spam in emails and miss things sometimes thinking it is spam. Enjoy your travels i just got back from doing 5 day trip to SA to see friends.
Thanks mate, we have done some mods to the fridge and seems to have improved its performance.. testing it out at the moment.. Should have a video out on it shortly!
Correct! Good eye, the atrocious weather we got when arriving in SA postponed filming until here. Unfortunately it was incredibly hard to balance the light between inside and out. With the naked eye it was an epic backdrop!
Great information,,just a question ,,,, when you stay at free camps ,do you ever get concerned about leaving your van ,have you ever had an issue on security
Hi Brad. Can't say we have, we have certain security measures in place. Generally there are other people about looking out for you too. If a place ever seems a bit dodgy or we don't feel right about it we always just keep moving to the next one. Trust your gut!
I installed a SOG on our toilet and have never looked back. I was using tablets but still getting smells. Now with the SOG, no tablets or powders needed. No smell.
What type of work have use been doing. Besides house seating i heard. Also how did use get the set up paid for. Car and van. How usw save for that did it take long time
Thanks for sharing another great video and all the travel tips. I do as much maintenance on my vehicle as possible, because it's new I have the Isuzu fixed price servicing, but I hate them touching it. You could easily do your basic vehicle maintenance like changing all the fluids and oils. I see you talking about doing some work on the road, a great idea guys with your skills, go for it. Binnalong and Tamora, near Wagga are great little places. I lived in Tumut for a few years and frequently travelled to Melbourne and home to Brissy as often as possible. There is some scary stuff there with flooding and road damage.
Cheers Rob! I have a trusted mechanic on the Gold Coast and he certainly knows more than I do. Plus wanted to get him to have a look over the rig after our FNQ trip. It's nice to have a few tickets and licenses, will make getting work a little easier. You are not wrong, a lovely part of the world. The free camp in Temora was very neat. Always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to flood water. Just scary stuff. Thanks for leaving a comment again mate!
G'day Brendan! We had it removed and put a standard fan back in. Couldn't find a fault with the unit itself and had both us and Kedron scratching our heads about it. Every other Kedron owner I've spoken to absolutely rates the dust fan. A credit to the build quality of this fan to not get any dust in without any prevention system running and for us having the extra ventilation hatch is what we would prefer after having both.
Damm so like 60000 a year. But use have been doing food experience. I dont even make that a year. Lool its 30 a year for 2 people is actually ok. Looks like i will never do my trip. Naaa i will use long service and im saving slowly. Need the set up. I feel like it will never happen the way everything is so expensive
Wow. You guys are incredible. I’ve downloaded your IMAP it’s fantastic. I’d love to see how you do your budget allocation (barefoot style). I’ve also signed up to your newsletter. Keep going guys.
If you still have the 3 way fridge, run it off the inverter while travelling, the dc dc charger will handle it easy. 🍻
Thanks mate, we have done some mods to the fridge and seems to have improved its performance.. testing it out at the moment.. Should have a video out on it shortly!
Filmed at Rapid bay? Seems like the jetty in the background....
Noice bits of info....
Cheers Mark! Thanks for watching & commenting as always.
I installed a SOG on our toilet and have never looked back. I was using tablets but still getting smells. Now with the SOG, no tablets or powders needed. No smell.
Have heard these units work well, maybe the next van.. although those compost toilets look the business !
With campsites, do you just rock up and then decide to stay and book and pay?
Depends on which area/peninsula. We are doing a run through on this in a SA recap video soon 😊
We’re did you source the dust caps? need a few myself
Hi Brenton. That’s a kedron design. If you have one of their vans you could ask them next time it’s in for a service 👍🏼
What type of work have use been doing. Besides house seating i heard. Also how did use get the set up paid for. Car and van. How usw save for that did it take long time
We saved for 4 years to fund the 1 year of travel and setup 😊
Hey Brad. What did you end up doing with the dust prevention fan?
G'day Brendan! We had it removed and put a standard fan back in. Couldn't find a fault with the unit itself and had both us and Kedron scratching our heads about it. Every other Kedron owner I've spoken to absolutely rates the dust fan. A credit to the build quality of this fan to not get any dust in without any prevention system running and for us having the extra ventilation hatch is what we would prefer after having both.
@@our.australia.trip. thanks mate. Yes we have one in our Kedron and haven’t had an issue. I was curious to see if there was an issue. Safe travels.
@@brendanb8549 That's good to hear mate, they are a great van. Same to you, catch you on the road 🤙😀
I wanna meet Kane who
Wrote on the welcome to SA sign in the intro
He is somewhat of an urban legend down these parts I hear!!! 🤣
@@our.australia.trip. we’re currently on the eyre, I’ll be lane hunting in a few weeks
I prefer Claire Valley wineries. They seem to be smaller and friendly.
Thanks for the tip. We will have to check them out :)
Keep up the good work, to save lots on fuel try driving at 90klh, you can save a lot on fuel towing a van
Cheers Tony. That's what we try to keep it at. Unless there is a truck or traffic up our butt we always speed up to not disturb the flow of traffic :)
Those dust caps worth getting you reckon? #dustchatcontinues
They are good but function the same as the old vents. Just a bit shinier!
So Kade has a big one????? :)
Apparently! I haven’t seen any evidence yet 😂😂
