A class act. He offered this to the Searchers whilst on tour in Australia, they turned it down only for Peter & Gordon who heard it in the next dressing room who asked if they could record it, the rest is history.
Saw Dell lots of times in the 70s around manchester, always great shows ,i saw him at the bar in the willows, i went over to him and got my air guitar out and started singing the answer to everything to him ,He put his drink down and shook my hand and asked me my name ,,he then said great keep practicing ,i then said me and my mates have seen you loads of times around here ,he laughed and said well you must be f ing mad ,we had a good laugh together and he was such a nice man ,he always gave a great performance every single time I saw him , and sounded great ,miss him loads now I'm 75 ,he is one of the very few acts I would Def leave my bedroom to see if he was still alive.
What a great song he wrote and he just kills it with this great performance. Dell must be one of the best rock stars of all time so many great songs on his albums the public is unaware of. You can tell he wrote this song from experience he lived it
A very sad ending for such a very talented artist, Del Shannon will always be remembered for his brilliant songs he wrote, sang, and played, l always wondered what ever happened to him, now l know my sincere condolences to his family and friends,
One of the best ever Del deserved much better especially the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame singing and writing contribution sad ending but not forgotten by me and I am sure thousands more
What a handsome, sexy and talented Del Shannon was. The world lost the best when we lost him! I truly love you Del. I know you can feel all the love we have for you. I will never stop loving you. You are my heart!
"I Go to Pieces" is a song written by Del Shannon which became a Top Ten hit for Peter and Gordon on 20 February 1965. Del Shannon had written "I Go to Pieces" for an R&B singer named Lloyd Brown whom Shannon discovered at a Michigan nightclub. Shannon arranged and produced Brown's recording but was unable to find a label interested in releasing the track. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Go_to_Pieces
I was just listening to my 30 year old Japanese CD, of Peter and Gordon's songs (20 of em), then this song came on. I was 11 when it came out, but all these feelings started coming out. I had to play it over and over. Such great lyrics. "I'm so lonely, think about her only". Then I ended up here listening to the master's Del's version. Never knew. Thank you. Bless Del.

Got my own start with this song the next year in 1990. Slowed it down similar to how Dean Dillon did when he recorded it a few years earlier. Accompanied only by my cousin and his piano skills we made magic one afternoon at Rio West Mall in Gallup, N.M. at thr Festival of the Arts. My life was forever changed in a matter of minutes. Thank you Del for so many great songs but espeially this one.
thats what i feel back in 1983,when i saw her for the first time......shaky and unable to speak..... ..she never fell the same and we never come together..... but i love this song, forever!
One of my very favorite songs when the song starts out it feels like the cords are being played from my heart definitely this song messes with the heart great job Dale from Paul Adams Louisville Kentucky Portland area
I still remember the day he died, as I had gone to a searchers concert and they did runaway, got in about midnight and heard the sad news on the radio before going to bed
