From what I learned about this discussion:
•Can/Could
-talks about the ability (kakayahan) of the person.
*Can - talks about the ability but your actually talking about present tense.( gagawin, gagawin palang)
*Could - talks about your ability but your phrase is talking about past tense ( nakaraan)
My examples:
•Can -I can sing beautifully
• Could - I could sing beautifully when I haven't yet reach my adulthood.
However, when we use the word "not" it talks about your inability.
For example:
• Cannot - I cannot sing beautifully
• Could not - I could not sing beautifully until the videoki app appeared.
•Will/Would
- talks about willingness of the person
•Will - you're using the word will if your sentences is talking about present. (Ngayon)
•Would - we use the word would if the sentence in your phrase is talking about its history. (Nakaraan)
My examples:
•Will - I will choose myself than the other.
•Would - I would rather choose to be alone than cling yo the past just to comfort my loneliness.
However, when we use the word "not" we're talking the inability.
Example:
•Will not - I will not help you prepare the dinner.
•Would not- I would not help you prepare the dinner if you will not help me wash the dishes.
•Shall/Should
-it talks about the rules, regulations, and laws.
• Shall - this word means your following what needs to be followed.
•Should - the word should is use when we're talking about the responsibility.
Example:
•Shall - We shall always respect & love our mother and father
•Should - I should spit the secret out knowing I'm having guilt.
Likewise, when we use the word "not" it's the inability to do something.
•Shall not - we shall not disrespect our parents.
•Should not - I should not be the one loving you if it weren't only for the bet.

In my first 5 years in Italy i couldn't speak Italian language fluently but now after 29 years of staying here i can speak Italian in right grammar according to my employer.
so maybe more speaking than reading...reading is not enough..just like what you did..you speak italian and become fluent..
Arlen, you have to be good in English grammar to learn Italian or other Romance languages. The most difficult Italian lesson for me is the Preposizioni Articolate. I stopped studying and learning Italian after only about four months because there’s no one to converse with. It’s easier to learn rhe conjugations in all tenses and moods than to listen and talk.
