I'm glad that this wasn't generic dubstep or whatever crap they usually put on these youtube videos.

Always torque up the suspension components with the car on the ground and wheels fitted to avoid winding up the bushes excessively. Torquing up the components with the suspension hanging in mid air makes the bushing get clamped in the hanging position. Then when the car is lowered its "wound" up so when the car is at rest the bush is being twisted. This makes the bush fail over time and makes for extra tension in the suspension system.

I'm not sure how to explain this but I'll do my best. First off, watch 3:25-4:25 of the video.
      koni yellow shock
spring perch thingy (the large metal thing where the bottom of the spring will sit)
white plastic washer thing (sits at the middle portion of the shock, where the yellow paint ends and the exposed rod begins)
bump stop (you will have to drill out a larger diameter hole for the bump stop to fit over the exposed rod)
silver metal washer (sits almost near the top of the exposed rod, above the bump stop, it has a bit of a bump on one side, that bump should be facing down towards the ground)
      black bump stop cover
another silver metal washer (this one does not have a bump on one side, it is identical on both sides of the washer)
      spring
top hat with the round ring rubber that goes inside but near the edge of the top hat and the two top hat round rubber donut like washers go inside and on the top outside of the top hat. A metal shock collar goes in between the two round rubber donut like washer.
larger diameter round washer with the edge thats curled facing up and two nuts go on top of that.
      I hope that helped.

I got them free in a trade. I think they said Evotion on the box. They're decent I guess. I swapped them out for H&R Sport Springs.

Hey man I got a Prelude too and I would like to know how the Koni's feel? looking to buy them myself but would like to know if they provide a good smooth ride and if you bounce a lot. And I was wondering what adjustable coil-over are great with that set up.
(sorry if what I say doesn't make sense I'm knew to the whole modifying the car stuff just got the Prelude recently and I don't know about these kinds of stuff)

DID this FIX the SHOCK KNOCK

    • @mikeschmeee
      @mikeschmeee  4 года назад +1

From what I remember, the 97-2001 Honda Prelude rear suspension shock knock can be solved by replacing the collar that is in between the two rubber pieces at the near the top of the shock, which are part number: 52725-SS0-004 RUBBER, RR. SHOCK ABSORBER. The collar is part number: 52728-SM1-A02, Collar, RR. Shock Absorber Mounting (Showa).
I think there was a Honda recall on that specific part.
All of the rubber parts that are being replaced in this video are old and worn out, but the silver collar seen in this video is part of the Koni rear shocks, which is slightly longer than the OEM collar, which was later addressed by Honda with the recall. It's the collar that causes the shock knock and it's the collar that must be replaced in order to solve the shock knock issue. However, replacing all of the rubber parts seen in this video might also help, especially if they are worn out and soft to the touch. One can feel the difference between an old rubber part and a new rubber part by trying to squeeze the part in one's hand.
I hope this helps and sorry for the late response.
