Good thing my donations to Wildlife Conservation Society Organization for the past 6 years after Superstorm Sandy helped & it is also for Ocean Wonders Sharks exhibit at Coney Island's New York Aquarium in Brooklyn.
Yes, it is. Yes it is. I work for them part-time as a docent and I have found out that we are doing this. This plan was unveiled last year of course since I only started working there again recently, but by 2015 you'll be able to experience this wonderful new exhibit. Stop by one time if ya can, we're still open after Sandy and will continue to help educate.
In July 2017 they are saying it's due to open in 2018, but it seems like every year since 2015 they've been saying "next year". We used to go to the NYA every year for my birthday, so every July I look to see if this is done yet, and it's always "next year". This will never ever live up to the 6 years of hype. Yes, Sandy was an unforeseen disaster, but that was 5 years ago now, the original timeline was only 3 years. And the family membership offer is now $199, last I paid a few years back it was only $129. I'll never see this exhibit, they'll out price themselves by then. And only 3 hours to park? That's insane.
