- SGM Mike Vining is a military legend. From his time as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician in Vietnam, to the founding of the United States Army's premiere counter terrorism force, Delta Force, Mike has done it all.

I love Mike's comment about the Hurt Locker character having the wrong personality for EOD. They actually nailed the personality of the person the character was based off of, but anyone who worked for him would agree that he didn't belong in EOD.

@@blakekenley1000google it, based on an article in some magazine, Jeff sarver or something was the techs name, then he sued movie makers . If you read article, much BS. Also google hurt locker lawsuit. Hated that movie😂
Absolutely fantastic question about volunteer vs drafted. it had never really occurred to me there were volunteers at this time.
Keep doing one what you’re doing. Love the exposure to the EOD world. One tech to another, I love it.

I am reminded of a plethora of people in my life who have played some kind of “tough guy” to intimidate me.. none of them have the sense, courage, or moxie of this real one. He doesn’t have to play tough and courageous…. He just is. I can’t imagine him displaying disrespect for anyone.
