Dimash is a 28-years old singer from Kazakhstan and believe me, you’ve seen nothing at all. In my opinion you have discovered the best singer in the world. He has perfect pitch and currently has a vocal range of 7,7 octaves (vocal fry C1 (B0) - whistle D8, this key doesn’t exist on the piano any more). That means he hits notes in almost 8 octaves and sings consistently in 6 octaves. Not in one song (mostly😅). At least what he has shown us so far. He plays several instruments like piano, dombra (a kazach instrument), drums, marimba and more. He has classical as well as contemporary vocal training since he is 5 years old and sings in different genres from opera to pop, jazz, Kazakh folk, ballads and he even raps a bit. And often he skillfully mixes several genres in one song. And meanwhile in more than 10 languages. The latest songs (from Tokyo Jazz Festival in November 2021) are Ikanaide in Japanese and at his concert in Almaty on September 23, 2022 he sang a new song in Spanish (about 7 languages in one concert).
He sings no mainstream and is a completely independent artist. He has his own company „DimashAli Creative Center“ and is managed by his father Kanat. Maybe that’s the reason you never heard of him yet. He doesn’t sell his soul to a music label. He doesn’t want to be dictated by money when he has to sing what, when, where and how.
Many of my favorite songs are in his native tongue. He is a nice, respectful and humble person. He respects people regardless of their original, religion or profession. He truly loves his homeland Kazakhstan and his people with all his heart and always shows it with pride in many of his songs, concerts and interviews. During his concerts in Dubai, Düsseldorf and Prague in 2022, before he performed his song War And Peace, he told the audience there are no bad nations (only bad leaders) and he loves all people in every country. And I absolutely believe him. His concert in September 23, 2022 was in his hometown Almaty, it was so amazing and it lasts almost 4 hours. I'm still sad today that I couldn't be there. Believe it or not but he really gets better and better. Every time you think you know him, you realize your so wrong.
He's very spiritual and thankful for the gift God has given him. But he also works very hard to improve his vocal skills.
He said in an interview he trains every day at least 3 hours and he swims under water very often to increase his lung capacity. He's a singer you can't put in any box. He sings almost every genre there is. Every time you watch a video, expect the unexpected. Even the covers he sings he makes his own and brings elements into the song that you would never expect. Don't be surprised if you get suggestions for songs you may have already seen. Dimash has different versions of many of the same songs. They are all worth seeing. Not only is he perfect at singing and performing, he's also an incredibly good actor. Check out his music videos. They are amazing and usually have a deep meaning. You think I’m exaggerating? No, I don’t think so😄.
SOS is a song in the rock-opera „Starmania“ from 1978. The first who presented this song was the French singer and songwriter Daniel Balavione.
SOS was the first performance of the China competition (in 2017) and was his first appearance in this show. It's no talent-show. The Singer is a show in China where only established singers are invited to perform. All the singers invited to this show are already well-known artists in China who have already won awards. Dimash was invited as the first foreigner as a wild card and the youngest in the history of this show. They became aware of him because he had already won some important competitions in Kazakhstan and Belarus, among others. He was still completely unknown in China. Actually, it was intended that he would only have 1 or 2 appearances. But it came completely different. When he woke up the next morning after his first performance of SOS he was a megastar in China and even found bodyguards outside his hotel room. SOS’ first video had 600 million views when it aired. He was just 22 years old at the time.
The other competitiors might not have taken Dimash seriously at first because of his age and that they didn’t know him but that quickly changed after the performance of SOS, as you can see. Through his honest, cheerful and open nature, he found friends very quickly. Contacts that still exist today.
If you want to stay in this competition for a while I recommend the second performance, Opera 2, where his father was in the audience. However, Dimash knew nothing about it when he performed. I think it was very difficult for him at the beginning. You have to imagine, until this competition in China in 2017 he never was alone. As far as I know, he lived in one house with the whole family, grandparents, parents and a sister and brother. And now he had to go to China alone, didn‘t know the country, didn‘t know the language and up until then he (almost) didn’t speak any English, except maybe „Thank you“ and „My name is Dimash“. Only one interpreter came along and that at the age of 22. He was almost a kid to me then (my son is 19 so I can imagine…) And after that performance he saw his dad. Indescribably beautiful and emotional.
During the Opera 2 performance, he flirted with the audience in a way that wasn’t really his habit at the time (fortunately that has changed in the meantime). And afterwards he said that he was really uncomfortable that his father saw him like that 🤭. Luckily he didn’t find out until afterwards because I love it when he’s like that on stage🥰.

I think it's great because he still seems so innocent. Just a boy and he doesn't seem as serious as he does now and then. He still looks unconcerned. I think what's happening today is giving him a lot of trouble.

This song is one of the most difficult songs to sing and made Dimash a mega-star overnight in 2017 (The Singer).
The song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' (1978) and is known in the English-speaking world as Tycoon (1995). Music: Michel Berger and Luc Plamondon (French original text). The English adaptation is by Tim Rice.
That's how it all started: In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old). Foreign participants were actually forbidden at that time. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home.
The competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers and a mega-star was born overnight. The next day bodyguards were at his door and now he is a superstar but without airs... just our Dimash.
The competition consisted of 14 rounds over 4 months. The jury consisted of 500 spectators who knew music, not just your average "Joe". They were well screened to be sure they would be able to judge the musicians fairly and competently. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to RUclips ... and so we became Dimash's Dears.
The Chinese organizers planned... but Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: 2018, Jessie J. Won).

He recently moved (temporarily) to California...
He just recently completed his doctoral studies and dissertation in music and came to the US to study film directing, but is meeting some highly known music people while here.
Dimash is kind, generous, loves his family ... Grandparents, Parents, Siblings and long time friends of the family, oh, and his Dears/Fans.
Like many Kazaks, he is Eurasian and Kazakhstan it part of the Eurasian Stepp.
He is tall at 6'3", athletic, also a men's fashion model, red belt in taekwondo, as swimmer mostly for breath control.

Oh, he was classically trained since age 5 until he was 25.

Dimash sings seven octave range, sings in 14 languages. He sings lots of genres from opera, pop, jazz, folk, even raps. He plays seven instruments, dances, directs, models and composes. He has p,aged sell out concerts in many countries, interrupted by the pandemic. He performed in the Barclay centre New York before the pandemic. He is a dedicated humanitarian, got a peace prize from the Pope recently. He is patriotic, lives with his parents, grandparents and siblings, no scandals surround him, no alcohol, drugs, etc. his fans are called dears, as we are dear to him. His is also very educated and humble. He speaks khazak, Russian and is getting pretty good in English now (he is currently in the U.S. doing various projects). Try Stranger from New Wave 2021. It’s in English. You will see his amazing stage presence and charisma.

The beauty of his voice fills me with a joy so intense, that it brings me to tears.
I have nothing but respect for how hard he has worked to make the most of his God-given talents.

In 2019 I was so captured by Dimash that I flew from Amsterdam to New York to see him live at the Kennedy center, an absolutely phenominal show, and well worth the trip.

Yes, we get emotional when Dimash sings. This became his signiture song and launched him into international fame. It was featured in the rock opera Starmania which deals with depressin and suicide. It is surrounded by tragedy, involving the deaths of three very young men, one of them a good friend of Dimash. In some of his later performances you can feel his pain. But it isn't just about his incredible voice but his emotional intelligence, his stage presence, his personal acheivements, and his love for his fans. This was 6 years ago, he’s perfect at 28 years old today (29 on May 24th, 2023). He still has a vocal coach training 3-4 hours a day. He’s currently just moved to the US for a year. He will be doing a few solo concerts but he’s currently working on a movie theme (all very secretive), with famous producers in the US. He did have a solo sell out concert in the Barclay Centre, New York in December 2019. He is THE greatest vocalist of ALL time. You’ve heard nothing yet. His range is over 7 octaves (that we know to)! Beautiful in every register! He has incredible stage presence but he’s also very humble and he loves his fans who he calls ‘dears’ because we are dear to him. He’s extremely respectful of his elders and he and his extended family all live together in a large house in Kazakhstan. He sings in all genres from Rock to Pop to Folk to Opera to Rap. He sings in 13 languages, including lots in English. He is a multi instrumentalist, (fantastic btw!) he was winning piano competitions at the age of 5 before he was winning singing competitions. He’s also a great composer and has composed some great masterpieces since this competition. He has attended music school since the age of 5. He has 2 degrees in vocals, classical and contemporary singing, a masters in composition, for which he received a perfect score and is currently coming towards the end of his doctorate in musicology. He has sell out solo concerts all over the world (most are on his youtube channel) the latest being in Almaty, Kazakhstan in September 2022, to an audience of 35,000. That is on his channel too! Incredible!

This show (Singer) is for established singers. Jessie J competed in 2018.. This was the first time anyone outside China saw him. His Competitors threw love at him. He's a 6 foot 3 inch guy from Kazakhstan who sang in French, to a Chinese audience, and had them in tears. He came... Second. 😳 There was uproar, as the Chinese public thought he should have won the series. Loved your Reaction. Thank you.

@@frontrowchaos4597 actually they often say the runner up goes on to do better than the winner in Talent shows. This is different because they were all established singers. But from his very first appearance Chinese people took him to their hearts. And when he lost THEY couldn't believe it. A bit like Hua Chenyu the next year as runner up to Jessie J. As a British person, Jessie was the best I've ever seen her, but.. Hua Chenyu was better. His music was so eclectic and moving. For me, Dimash is the best Vocalist on the Planet, but Hua Chenyu is Freddie Mercury, David Bowie, Axel Rose, Prince, Eminem (dialled up to 30), George Michael, Bruno Mars and a touch of Elton John in ONE Performer. Sensational.
If you want to React to Hua Chenyu recommend "Nunchucks" (not in my Top 50 Hua Chenyu Performances but good fun intro to SOME of his abilities).. From this point Dimash went on to become a global star, he's still to conquer the West en masse but he's currently in Los Angeles for an extended period of time working with the producers and composers for Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, so it looks like he's locking down that part of the world now too.

It’s been said by vocal coaches that a voice like his may be heard once in a thousand years, I know that I haven’t heard anything like it before. The irony is that he came in second on this show because they had a rule against giving prize money to a foreigner. He woke up the next morning with millions of new fans, which was far more important. They changed the rules the next year and did let a Brit win. They kept inviting Dimash back for special performances, though, and now he often gives concerts in China. This was probably the best music competition in the world. No painful auditions or insulting judges' comments. All the contestants were professionals invited to participate. Please list to more of his work. Many of us thought he was the best singer we'd ever heard then (2017), but he
keeps getting better and better. He spoke little English or Chinese then, but he's come a long way in those languages. He's sung in 15 or more different languages. And your viewers are going to shoot way up.
I never knew this was the reason why he didn’t win the competition. I thought it was some kind of bias against foreigners. I’m so glad I know the reason now. 😊
I loved Singer BECAUSE it was not a Simon Cowell style of "talent" Contest. No nastiness. Pure, uplifting support for each other by the Contestants too. They went out of their way to be nice to each other. Some younger voices being supported by older ones too. And, I love the "Carer/Translators" for each Contestant. Jeffrey was always lovely. And Hua Chenyu and Jia Wei in 2018 as Hua Chenyu's quirkiness meant he NEEDED that individual, "big brother" support, was lovely to watch as there was someone allocated to each of them to soothe and smooth their journey. Plus, some of the things they got up to were fun. Jeffrey (allocated to Jessie J in 2018), but crying when Tengger sang "Heaven" was such a "true" moment. He was rooting for Jessie. But her Competitor moved him to tears. Wonderfully designed show. (As was The Next). 😳👍

He plays 8 musical instruments and is currently working on his PhD in musicology (has a Masters in composition). He’s been training since the age of 5, has a 7 octave 2 semi-tone range, has absolute pitch, and is an amazingly humble man. His mother is an opera singer and his father is a singer and producer. After digesting those performances, I can't stress enough my recommendation for his most recent song and music video (mini movie) the artistic masterpiece "The Story of One Sky" that he wrote the screenplay for and spent 3 years composing the music for, which displays a lot of his range (not all) and soooo many vocal techniques and dynamics, including sub harmonics, whistle register, bass, tenor, baritone, classical, jazz, pop, rock and unreal metal screams....and unbelievable dramatic acting. Each performance will leave you stunned. Thank you for reacting to our Dimash from a loyal "Dear" (fandom name given to us by Dimash, because we are dear to him like his family). If you're interested in more of Dimash I'd recommend Sinful Passion, Stranger, Olimpico, Ave Maria, Ikanaide, All by myself, Love is like a dream (Ok, ok, I stop, there are so many songs and there is not one as the other and each is just great). But, please, don't watch anything of "The Worlds Best" an American show he did about 2 or 3 years ago. Welcome to the world of Dimash! Thank you for your genuine appreciation of Dimash’s insane talent! He’s not only an exceptional vocalist, but also an accomplished musician, and an amazing performer.
Dimash has a vocal range of about 7 octaves, which is quite impressive; but that’s not what defines him. He sounds exquisite at any range, which is incredible in and of itself.
Besides, his voice has so many colors and tone to it, not mentioning his vocal dynamics. His voice is soaring only to express his intense emotions, whether it’s a cry for help (SOS), a yearning (Samaltau), or to express pain or loss (The Story of One Sky). Dimash, being a composer himself (“Unforgettable Day”- Ұмытылмас күн), knows exactly how the song he interprets must be delivered. Indeed, what I love about Dimash is that he does not use his vocal abilities to show off, but to serve the song: through his voice, he’s telling us a story.
In short, he’s not only a masterful vocalist - It’s precisely thanks to his mastery that Dimash is able to freely dive, and tap, into his emotions; but also an amazing storyteller. Above all, he’s a soulful, genuine, passionate, and humble artist.
At last, know that Dimash is classically trained - he even declined a position as an opera singer when he was only 22, and has absolute pitch (a rare cognitive trait by the way) which was discovered when he was only 5 years old.

This is the show that launched Dimashs' career. He was invited to participate in a singing competition as a "dark horse." None of the other participants even knew what he looked like or his talent. Before Dimashs' appearance, the show was only for professional Chinese singers. He was the first foreigner and the youngest in the history of the show. The others were 12-39 yrs. his senior. You ain't heard nothing yet. I could begin to tell you what to listen to next, however, it would be nice to watch how he grew and progressed on this show, before moving on to his concerts after this. You will never be disappointed with anything he sings. Plus, he is still the most humble person ever. You will not believe how many of us "Dears" want you to do more Dimash videos.

Dimash became my favorite vocal artist and has so many astounding performances that I cannot choose a top fav. I will say OLIMPICO aka OGNI PIETRA (sung in Italian) and so upbeat , with such inspiring words is up there….. but so is SINFUL PASSION, STRANGER, and his VIDEO DEBUT of KNOW (what a gorgeous artistic video like no other I’ve ever seen!), and THE LOVE OF TIRED SWANS (video debut too), ENDLESS DIMENSIONS (movie debut), LOVE IS LIKE A DREAM, BE WITH ME (I’m not into it but he raps in parts of it! Oh my!)- Dimash is the most unique vocal artist on the planet. A once in a century vocal artist. He walks his own walk - like no other singer out there does, coupled with his different arrays of music / song selections and his unrivaled talent (he’s sung THE DIVA DANCE (Bastu concert). If you don't get; chills, goosebumps, teary, breathless, speechless (often all of the above) whilst / after listening to Dimash, then there is something wrong, not only with your ears, but your soul! He is quite simply the best Vocalist this planet has ever heard. Several leagues above everyone else.
A 7+ octave range, sings in over 14 languages, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and sings across ALL Genres.
Here, aged 23, he is 28 now and has improved significantly since that performance - believe it or not! Dimash chose his parents very well; both are well known singers in Kazakhstan. I'm pretty sure he was already tuning his ear to perfect pitch whilst still in his mothers womb! He was often up on stage with his parents from toddlerhood, taking bows for / with them after performances and clearly thinking the applause was for him! Probably was, he was ridiculously cute even then... So the stage is his second home. But as you can see, he is a perfectionist and still gets terribly nervous before performances.
Dimash takes nothing for granted, is without a shred of 'star ego'. He was raised right, and as you noted; has the right attitude to performance; it is FOR the audience. He is always enormously respectful of everyone he works with.
Dimash commenced formal musical / vocal training at the age of 5. At 8 he won his first piano competition. The list goes on. Enjoy exploring more of DImash's artistry.

This 2017 Chinese Singer competition was by invitation only to established artists, and the audience were all industry professionals. Dimash gave many stunning performances over a period of some 3 months of that run. [* Check these out too! ] No Dimash DIDN'T WIN! He was designated Runner Up and when this was announced a couple of Hundred Million of his new Chinese Fans went absolutely ballistic! The producers then, sheepishly, crept out and explained they hadn't expected him to be this good! And couldn't give the top spot to him because that had to be a Chinese Citizen. This just infuriated his fans MORE! Both Governments hurriedly created a new title for Dimash; 'Kazakh/ China Cultural Ambassador' 🤣👍

SOS is Dimash masterpiece!! SOS is an existentialist song, about ups and downs in life, depression and death, when you feel you don’t belong here.
The Singer , it was a Chinese show for highly respected singers to compete, Dimash was the only non Chinese singer invited because the producer saw him perform for the Chinese and Kazakh presidents and was very impressed. He is from Kazakhstan and was the youngest ever competitor in 2017 at only 22 years old. This was his first performance on the show and the audience went wild for him. When the show was broadcast on tv he had to have bodyguards for the first time in his life as he had become a superstar overnight in China. Dimash is a world class artist, turned 28 on the 24th of May but touring the world to sell out arenas with his solo concerts, he also performs in concerts with the famous Ukrainian/Russian composer Igor Krutoy, is constantly collecting awards, attends many prestigious red carpet events, film festivals and even models for lots of high end fashion houses. He is university trained in Classical opera vocals to degree level, also holds a degree in contemporary pop music and jazz with a major in vocals, and now has finished his master degree in music composition. He started his doctorate in Musicology.He has been having singing lessons from the age of 5 when his teacher noticed he had perfect pitch . He was offered a place at the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but respectfully turned it down to pursue his own more contemporary musical career. He is a multi instrumentalist, more than 8 instruments and also sings in 15 different languages and has a range of over 6 octaves from a low bass A2 to a high soprano, plus a whistle register with his highest note so far being a 5 second D8 with vibrato. He is widely recognized as the best vocalist in the world. He speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian, is studying English and Mandarin and has conversational skills in both but not quite fluent yet. He is kind, humble, generous and modest, very elegant and very tall, Dimash is 6ft 3, 1/4. ❤️🎤🔝🌹🌹
