The song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' 1978, well known in French-speaking countries) and is one of the most difficult songs to sing and in 2017 made Dimash a mega-star overnight. That's how it all started: In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old). This song from Dimash is the first in the 14 episodes of the Chinese competition The Singer 2017. I believe he was the first foreign competitor to take part in the competition. The other competitors were accomplished Chinese singers. Dimash came second behind Sandy Lam, with Lion Band in third place. There was a great camaraderie between the contestants and Dimash became great friends with a number of them, especially Terry Lin. The other artist are well worth checking out.
Dimash came second only because at that time, five years ago, a rule was in place prescribing that no foreigner can win the Wuhan Television competition, "Singer."

From what I've seen, the singers seemed to have good relationships with each other. And Dimash was the youngest and such a nice guy that the other singers all seemed to really like him and encourage him. When he was sick one of them even brought him some medicine to help him out. He is still friends with some of them. Dimash speaks Kazakh, Russian and quite a bit of English. I would say to watch "Adagio" from this same competition. It is one of his very passionate performances where he gives 110%.
I love your appreciation for his talent and how you stressed his hard work. That is often overlooked. The guy and friend who introduced him on the show, Alai, is the one that gave him the big hug afterwards, lol. For your own enjoyment I recommend listening to Opera 2 again (English subs) with the reveal of his dad after the performance and their little chat. Alai was as stunned and overjoyed as everyone else at Dimash's performance. I assume that he hadn't heard what Dimash could really do in advance. Dimash sings during the rehearsals of course, but when he is on stage in front of an audience is when the real power comes out. Nobody would understand that until they had actually seen it happen. Dimash on stage becomes completely electrifying. His reason for living is to please and give of his best to others, and he does that, amongst other things, by singing his heart and soul out to the listener. What you see on stage comes from his love. There's nothing that can beat that energy. Nobody else can do what he does in the way that he does it. As for what he has to do to build his skills, how many hours practising, how much exercise, how many sleepless nights, he shrugs all that off. He says 'people do not need to know how hard I work, they only need to enjoy the results'
The audience of 500 people were the judges, carefully selected from all parts of the music business. The other singers are all professionals with a lot of history behind them in China and their own big fan bases. They were shocked, but also appreciated his talents and skills, and they were supportive of this young unknown guy who was all on his own in their country, not speaking their language, and representing his homeland of Kazakhstan. He had a lot riding on his shoulders. He did his country proud. The guy hugging him afterwards is Alai, his mentor for the show. Dimash's father flew out to China to be with his son for Opera 2 (his second performance, that you already reacted to). There is a full version of that performance on Gloria Wu's channel with english subtitles. It shows the interaction with his father afterwards. Dimash didn't know he was in the audience and there is a moment at the end when he is taking his bows and he spots him and hesitates. Later in the corridor he asks him several times if he sang well. It is very touching.

Yeah, it's not only talent - he does work hard at his craft. Yes, that poor girl who had to go on next! The thing about 'Dimashification' { becoming a fan after just the 1st song! } is that his competitors fell in love with him also. You can see them cheering him on, performance after performance, throughout this show. I guess they instantly recognised they were completely outclassed and then just focussed on competing with each other. The shocker was not how good he was - but that he didn't win. A lot of Dears - I mean MEGA LOTS - were, VERY P'---'D about that! 😮

I happened across Dimash 3 years ago. Title was “ Greatest Singer in the world”......I thought “Yeah right, let me watch this”...... I haven’t been the same since! He truly IS the GREATEST! Those contestants in the back room were real good also, but he was the best . He is so humble. I watched the whole program and was impressed with most of the contestants but he was the best. To be fair, all the contestants are extremely famous singers, with amazing careers in China, they are all excellent! Since Dimash was the first foreigner to ever be invited to compete in the competition, the rules didn’t allow him to win, since it was a state run show. He came second, but after this competition he became world famous and he’s greatly loved in China and performs there a lot. After the competition he spent 3 years working in China and still does shows over there from time to time. The rules to “I Am Singer” changed the following year to allow foreigners to win, and Jessie J from England won the competition in 2018.
Dimash was an unknown. He was invited expected to last maybe 1-2 rounds. But, he came and stayed. After that song SOS, he gained so many fans in China he had to have bodyguards the next day. So great and so humble, he was loved by the other contestants who named him the adopted son from abroad. He was homesic since it was his first time away from his house for such long time. His father arrived unexpectedly on the 2nd performance and was hiden among the audience. The song was Opera 2. Technically and artistically that’s a fact. His versatility, wide range, stage presence, performance, background, technique, creativity, powerful and beautiful voice makes him all in one 🔝🔝🎤❤️🌹 The guy you were asking for is Alpamys Sharimov a close friend of Dimash, is a well-known TV and film producer. The Singer , it was a Chinese show for highly respected singers to compete, Dimash was the only non Chinese singer invited because the producer saw him perform for the Chinese and Kazakh presidents and was very impressed. He is from Kazakhstan and was the youngest ever competitor in 2017 at only 22 years old. This was his first performance on the show and the audience went wild for him. When the show was broadcast on tv he had to have bodyguards for the first time in his life as he had become a superstar overnight in China. He is now a world class artist, will turned 28 on the 24th of May but touring the world to sell out arenas with his solo concerts, he also performs in concerts with the famous Russian composer Igor Krutoy, is constantly collecting awards, attends many prestigious red carpet events, film festivals and even models for lots of high end fashion houses. He is university trained in Classical opera vocals to degree level, also holds a degree in contemporary pop music and jazz with a major in vocals, and now has finished his master degree in music composition. He is about to finish his doctorate in Musicology.He has been having singing lessons from the age of 5 when his teacher noticed he had perfect pitch . He was offered a place at the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but respectfully turned it down to pursue his own more contemporary musical career. He is a multi instrumentalist, more than 8 instruments and also sings in 12 different languages and has a range of over 6 octaves from a low bass A2 to a high soprano, plus a whistle register with his highest note so far being a 5 second D8 with vibrato. He is widely recognized as the best vocalist in the world. He speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian, is studying English and Mandarin and has conversational skills in both but not quite fluent yet. He is kind, humble, generous and modest, very elegant and very tall, Dimash is 6ft 3, 1/4. ❤️🎤🌹🌹👏👏👏

This song from Dimash is the first in the 14 episodes of the Chinese competition The Singer 2017. I believe he was the first foreign competitor to take part in the competition. The other competitors were accomplished Chinese singers. Dimash came second behind Sandy Lam, with Lion Band in third place. There was a great camaraderie between the contestants and Dimash became great friends with a number of them, especially Terry Lin. The other artist are well worth checking out.

From what I've seen, the singers seemed to have good relationships with each other. And Dimash was the youngest and such a nice guy that the other singers all seemed to really like him and encourage him. When he was sick one of them even brought him some medicine to help him out. He is still friends with some of them. Dimash speaks Kazakh, Russian and quite a bit of English. I would say to watch "Adagio" from this same competition. It is one of his very passionate performances where he gives 110%.

I love your appreciation for his talent and how you stressed his hard work. That is often overlooked. The guy and friend who introduced him on the show, Alai, is the one that gave him the big hug afterwards, lol. Alai was as stunned and overjoyed as everyone else at Dimash's performance. I assume that he hadn't heard what Dimash could really do in advance. Dimash sings during the rehearsals of course, but when he is on stage in front of an audience is when the real power comes out. Nobody would understand that until they had actually seen it happen. Dimash on stage becomes completely electrifying. His reason for living is to please and give of his best to others, and he does that, amongst other things, by singing his heart and soul out to the listener. What you see on stage comes from his love. There's nothing that can beat that energy. Nobody else can do what he does in the way that he does it.
As for what he has to do to build his skills, how many hours practising, how much exercise, how many sleepless nights, he shrugs all that off. He says 'people do not need to know how hard I work, they only need to enjoy the results'

He is amazing
The audience of 500 people were the judges, carefully selected from all parts of the music business. The other singers are all professionals with a lot of history behind them in China and their own big fan bases. They were shocked, but also appreciated his talents and skills, and they were supportive of this young unknown guy who was all on his own in their country, not speaking their language, and representing his homeland of Kazakhstan. He had a lot riding on his shoulders. He did his country proud. The guy hugging him afterwards is Alai, his mentor for the show. Dimash's father flew out to China to be with his son for Opera 2 (his second performance, that you already reacted to). There is a full version of that performance on Gloria Wu's channel with english subtitles. It shows the interaction with his father afterwards. Dimash didn't know he was in the audience and there is a moment at the end when he is taking his bows and he spots him and hesitates. Later in the corridor he asks him several times if he sang well. It is very touching.

Yeah, it's not only talent - he does work hard at his craft. Yes, that poor girl who had to go on next! The thing about 'Dimashification' { becoming a fan after just the 1st song! } is that his competitors fell in love with him also. You can see them cheering him on, performance after performance, throughout this show. I guess they instantly recognised they were completely outclassed and then just focussed on competing with each other. The shocker was not how good he was - but that he didn't win. A lot of Dears - I mean MEGA LOTS - were, VERY P'---'D about that! 😮

To be fair, all the contestants are extremely famous singers, with amazing careers in China, they are all excellent! Since Dimash was the first foreigner to ever be invited to compete in the competition, the rules didn’t allow him to win, since it was a state run show. He came second, but after this competition he became world famous and he’s greatly loved in China and performs there a lot. After the competition he spent 3 years working in China and still does shows over there from time to time. The rules to “I Am Singer” changed the following year to allow foreigners to win, and Jessie J from England won the competition in 2018.

Dimash was an unknown. He was invited expected to last maybe 1-2 rounds. But, he came and stayed. After that song SOS, he gained so many fans in China he had to have bodyguards the next day. He was homesic since it was his first time away from his house for such long time. His father arrived unexpectedly on the 2nd performance and was hiden among the audience. The song was Opera 2. You may like to react to it and see the emotion when he saw his father after the performance.
