Such a wellknown bass groove by Abraham Laboriel. This bassgroove is the ‘backbone’ from the song (in my opinion 😊). Although the groove seems ‘simple’, it’s a challenge to play the groove on different chords. In the Verse the bass is muted (thumb playing) and the Chorus is more pronounced and fngerstyle played.

Hi Dave, thanks for the compliment! I transcribe by ear, but I try find video’s of the bassplayers and see how they play. But most of the time this isn’t anywhere to find. With Abe it’s known that he plays with his thumb, uses a lot of percussive (ghost) notes and almost always puts in a ‘slap’ in the songs 😀. I play almost 35 years bass (and double bass). Seems such a long time 😉😂. Greetings! Pete
