- After 150,000 views of the original upload (1,2 million by now!!), I thought it was time to upload a copy with better sound. On the old upload Randy's voice unfortunately sounded a bit choppy, because of audio compression (inspite of directing folks over to this improved upload, they don't seem to leave the old one alone though!;). Joe Sample flew away from Houston on Septermber 12, 2014. The general public primarily knew him from the track 'Streetlife' that he composed with Will Jennings and performed with The Crusaders.
Sample reached the age of 75, and had played the piano since he was five years old.
With some classmates Sample formed The Jazz Crusaders, which later became The Crusaders. In 1979 they released their worldwide hit Streetlife, with vocals by Randy Crawford.
During his fifty-year career Sample recorded 21 solo albums. He also wrote music for several other musicians and played alongside legends Miles Davis, Marvin Gaye, BB King and Joni Mitchell, to name but a few. Joe Sample became and will forever be legend of his own. May he rest in peace, God bless and comfort his loved ones.

Every once in a great while, it all comes together perfectly. This was one of those very rare moments.
I saw Randy Crawford in NYC at the Beacon Theater in the 1990's. She walked onto the stage, put her pocketbook next to the microphone, belted out one of the best live performances I've ever seen, said thank you, then picked up her pocketbook and left the stage. She's ALL about the voice. Amazing stuff!
I have still not heard a voice like hers.

Randy Crawford is the ultimate vocalist in my opinion. She is unmatched when it comes to pure quality of tonality and vocal control. Her voice always takes me away to that special place. I love her...the first song that ever brought real feeling into my life as a young girl.
I was born in mid 90's and my grand Ma, had such a collections of classic music. The likes of The Carpenters, ABBA, Bee gees , Frank Sinatra, Matt Monroe, Luis Armstrong, Randy Crawford, Ella Fitzgerald, Christopher Cross, Kenny Rankin and many more. I guess i'm still normal guy, if i chose and loved to listened to this type of songs and genres than the songs of today's 2016, because for me, Music of the past never dies, they just fade away but once listening to it again it gives back the feeling and joys that none of today's music will have an effects on me.
Two amazingly great talents together.... doesn't get much better than this. This is the perfect arrangement. Thanks for posting this one.... awesome!!
