A local cintrollee is needed so that the plant is controlable when global internet is down. A data agrigator is useful in that the sensor data is concentrated and sent as a more manage data package the a collection of individual sensors. Also only one device, the data agregator needs to have cloud authenication details.

This causes a change of position of a rod or other mechanism that closes a contact, changes a valve position, etc. If the wire is broken, it is called an "open coil", since the driving force for the coil is lost.
