    Great series. I know the umbrella is primarily used for taking long lunch breaks on warm sunny days, but it's also nice to have when it rains. lol

    just a tip that im sure you already know, if you ever run into wires that wont go through conduit I sometimes use leak soap to help lubricate when running through long lengths.

    I noticed you opened the motor box on site. You should open it at the supply house. I’ve found many motors locked up when purchasing over the 40 plus years in service. It sucks getting to the Jo’s to find it locked up.

    Is the compressor in this condenser unit in any way related to "Snowball"? ;) On a serious note, do the gaps in the spine fine condenser coil for the feed tubes effect the heat transfer efficiency of the unit?

    Great wrk on episode 3. Like the way u used the formula for the capacitor under a load. It sucks sometimes when u shout off the unit to test. My question: the formula is Amps X 2,650 ÷ Voltage = Actual microfarads.. What does the 2,650 mean? Thanks Brother.

    • @StephenRardon
      @StephenRardon  9 лет назад

      i think someone has already mentioned that answer in my original video on checking under load. I don't recall exactly other than it's a constant figure related to power or something like that. eddiehvac

    Nice work. Where did you get an umbrella like that? Not only handy in the rain, but to keep the sun off too.

    I have the same noisy AC in Tucson. Video is very good. I just need know how to describe to the repair person what needs to be done to do to fix my noise issue....maybe you can come and help fix it?????????? Keep up the good work!

    • @StephenRardon
      @StephenRardon  8 лет назад

      If it's a fan issue the fan would need replaced but that noise could be other things. I don't know for sure but there is a guy named ***** in that neck of the woods that might be able to help or recommend a good serviceman.

    Umm, was it just me or was much of the action (removing the fan, etc) off the bottom of the screen?

  • @bigrollin

    Nice move on the umbrella. Did you find that on the job site or is that stock on the truck?
    Keep the vids coming!

      I carry the umbrella in my matchbox van, takes up some room but saves the day again and again!

      I always carry one in my truck too along with a rain suit and rubber boots. That and a pair of overalls for crawlspaces.

      JP Raimundo i'm way too hard headed to wear coveralls most of the time, i don't like being unable to reach crap in my pockets, like screw chucks or my phone to take pictures. i have a pair but rarely actually think to put them on until after I'm filthy...

    • @jpraimundo4100
      @jpraimundo4100 9 лет назад +1

      Yeah I know what you mean. I carry them but only use when it´s really nasty in there. I run into really nasty stuff from time to time.

    I have a similar unit. It doesn’t sound loud outside but inside the house it just runs noisy. Even more so when it kicks on and off. Any ideas why?

    • @StephenRardon
      @StephenRardon  5 лет назад

      It’s very possible that the refrigerant piping is touching part of the wall which would transmit the noise or vibration

  • @soloban81
    @soloban81 9 лет назад

    What would cause an AC unit to sound like a truck that's roughly idling? Someone in the neighboring has one that sounds like someone pulsing their foot on the accelerator of a diesel truck.

    • @StephenRardon
      @StephenRardon  9 лет назад

      Refrigerant charge would be first on the checklist, then airflow

    • @soloban81
      @soloban81 9 лет назад

      Stephen Rardon I was asking because I heard one in the neighborhood that sounded that way. I was over at her house and looked at the unit outside and it looked clean and was no longer sounding rough. I asked her about it and she said a neighbor replaced the cap in it.

    • @StephenRardon
      @StephenRardon  9 лет назад

      Interesting

    • @soloban81
      @soloban81 8 лет назад

      +Stephen Rardon (HVAC with Stephen Rardon) it's making noise again. I looked at it again for her. When I push on the top of the unit the noise stops. Tried tightening the bolts that hold the fan unit on and it helped to some degree. I'm guessing her motor is about to go...thoughts?

    • @StephenRardon
      @StephenRardon  8 лет назад

      soloban81 if it took a capacitor last year 50 weeks ago, then it's very likely that the motor could fail or another capacitor.

    How much is this service & New parts?

    • @StephenRardon
      @StephenRardon  4 года назад

      It will vary depending on your market. Generally I would expect a range from $600 to $1500 depending on several variables

    • @bigrollin
      @bigrollin 2 года назад

      they wanted to charge me 1500. I had already replaced the capacitor but yet they wanted to still put a new one to warranty the motor for a whole 30 days lol.
      I did it all and took me maybe an hour. such a rip off. nowhere was that worth 1500 dollars. should be robbery.
