Alcorn with the CLEAR W! Valley sounds bigger and better than previous years but from the sound and actions of both bands you can clearly see Alcorn is way more musically mature and diverse. Alcorn is the better band overall
Alcorn tubas need a few more sectionals to solidify those high notes. Valley sounds like a summer mass band, too many interpretations of attacks and releases. They both sound better than last year. I can't wait to hear them around Mardi Gras season

Most definitely improved from last year. It's really a complete turn around. I was getting concerned, so I'm really happy to see the progress. I can tell the student musicians are putting in the work. Keep going Alcorn!
that big timers song 'Still fly' that MVSU played was over all 'A two pack of booty'. trash that whole arrangement and redesign that because that arrangement aint it.

That song is a classic favorite but the tempo, the choppiness feel behind it, the way they have the band up octaves on some parts like the arrangement just wasn't it. Not saying they weren't clean(to some degree) its just the arrangement needs to go back to the lab.
Maybe im alone but both of these bands sounded like they needed work...Valley trumpets need help, mellos sound like dying cats and arrangements seem choppy and lots of bricked notes from every section trying to scream. Alcorn just was doing the most
