    Do you use an external display with your Mac? If so, which one do you use, and why? Would you consider 'upgrading' to this newly launched LG UltraFine Display? Let me know!

      Does it have a fan on the back of the monitor ? Like the ultrafine 5k ? I tried to check when you detach the stand but it is hard to see. Thanks!

    i literally bought this yesterday without knowing they refreshed them, when i looked at the rear i noticed the second thunderbolt 3 port and was surprised. so i essentially purchased this newer model without realizing it was the NEW ONE, that's how stealth apple's release was for this display

    I bought two of these, they're pretty good. Nice display, can't see how I would want any more definition. I'm using mostly for After Effects, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and then for Logic Pro X. The speakers are absolutely terrible and I feel like the stand could be better, but it seemed like the best option as of October 2020 without being insane and spending six grand. Worked perfect out of the box. The only issue is the light sensor is a bit erratic. I would agree with the 3/5 stars most people seem to give them. Not much of a reviewer but I thought maybe it'd help someone looking. Overall - not mind blowing, but pretty good, does the job.

      @@edimarjunior9616 No way really? Then why he saying that they are bad?

    • @TheIrisCZ
      @TheIrisCZ 2 года назад +2

      @@edimarjunior9616 I have to agree. To me, the speakers are good enough that I stopped using external speakers. Sure, you won't be experiencing anything amazing while listening to or producing music, but if you are just watching RUclips, having a few calls etc., they are very usable. Especially when you compare them with any other built-in speakers in different displays. I had my hands on dozens of monitors due to my work and there were basically no other comparable speakers except for those in huge 42 inch gaming OLEDs which are nothing but TVs cosplaying as monitors.
      Also the picture still holds up until today. Yes, it's "just an edge-lit IPS", but the amazing brightness, panel quality, pixel density and (cannot stress this enough) glossy coating made me chose these displays over any other in this price range. Glossy displays are just so much more vibrant and unless you work directly behind a window, with the 500 Nits brightness you should have no problems with visibility. I actually find the scattering of the light on matte displays much more distracting.

    Hi there, this monitor + MBP M1 Pro were working fine until a couple of weeks ago when speakers and display controls in the General Settings of the MB disappeared. Now I can't select LG as default speakers, and the brightness cannot be moved up or down.
    Any ideas? I tried already with another Thunderbolt Cable and nothing changed.

    I have two of these connected to a Mac mini M2 Pro. They work great. There are a lot of 4K displays on the market. I think this size works better than a larger display. The pixel density is 183 pixels per inch. My 2017 5K iMac had a pixel density of 218 pixels per inch. When viewing at a normal distance, I can't tell the difference between these displays and the iMac. A larger 4K display may look good but its pixel density would be less, which means that images and text would not be as sharp. I have been spoiled by Apple's Retina displays, so I can't work with displays that don't look as good. I think these were well worth the $700 price.

      i was thinking about picking up a 24md4kl for my mac mini m2 2023 but was confused about the ports on the back of the monitor. I was under the impression the ports are capable of charging laptops tablets phones etc, so I thought you couldn't plug in something like the mac mini . Wouldnt a charge from the monitor damage the mac mini? How is your display set up? thru the thunderbolt port? If so do you think its worth upgrading to a thunderport 4 over the 3? thanks I appreciate the input~

    • @HowieIsaacks
      @HowieIsaacks 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@coleedwards1634 You can plug them into a Mac mini directly. There are no issues. The monitor only charges if the device it's plugged into supports that. They will daisy chain too. Right now, both of mine are plugged into a Thunderbolt dock. Only one is plugged into the dock directly. If I didn't have the dock, they would be plugged into my MacBook Pro directly. My MacBook Pro would be charged and the USB-C and Thunderbolt ports on the back of the displays would be usable by the MacBook Pro. They're great monitors. There was only one annoying thing. For about a week or so, they showed some light bleed around the edges. Once they "burned in" the light bleed went away. I almost returned the first one that I bought, then I noticed that the issue went away. The second one that I bought a few months later showed the same issue and it too "burned in" and the issue was gone.

Also viewing angle is nog great, color/intensity wise. i still have my 21" imac from late2017 and that 4k screen is actually better in every way. A bit frustrating to be honest, seeing it next to two LG screens. Also, makes me appreciate the imac so much more.

    Thanks for this video overview. Also thanks for the mention of iFixit. This new LG monitor is very interesting, with its twin Thunderbolt 3 ports, additional USB-C ports, and iPad Pro support. I'm a little puzzled, though, that it lacks support for "pivoting", in other words, using the monitor in "portrait mode". That's disappointing. I'd love to see what a MacMini or other late model Apple laptop could do with this display when aided by an eGPU. How many eGPU configurations out there would enhance a Mac with a display like this?

    I'm thrown off by the PPI. So my question is... if I've been admiring the quality of the iMac 21.5 4k screen, and buy this, am I going to be able to tell the difference? Will it look "grainy". Thanks.

    • @eldyko
      @eldyko 5 лет назад +1

      I’ve been thinking this as well. The 21.5” version I believe was the same ppi as 21” iMac retina. I liked this because I could scale the monitor and my MacBook to have the same size UI, but if this new model is larger at 24”, but has the same pixels, i can only assume it won’t look as good as its 21.5” predecessor, everything will be look slightly larger and also won’t match the UI sizing on my MacBook, which isn’t cool. My issue is that I could get a different 24” LG 4K monitor for less than half this price. Sure it doesn’t have all the integration of the UltraFine, but all I really care about is pixel density and having it match with my Mac.

    I use LG UltraFine 5K display around18 months, one day, there are a lot of ghost image and burn in, just stay for 5 seconds, the image will burn in, and it will take a long time to get lost. I asked for LG . Someone came to follow up, and after seeing the ghost image and called back to the company. The Engineering said " normal". I don’t accept and continue to ask LG, The Engineering only responded to "normal" without explaining any reasons and improvement methods.
    The LG UltraFine 5K display in the Apple Store has a same image problem.

    Hi,
    At 8:14 you mentioned the sensor adjusting the brightness automatically and it really seems (though very slightly) that it does. But I have the previous 4K LG UltraFine and although it has the same sensor, it just doesn't work. I searched internet and many people say theirs doesn't work either. I was thinking maybe Apple would add the feature with a software update but then I saw your video and was very surprised.
    Am I doing something wrong?
