  • A family is grateful after a heart-stopping near-drowning in a Kansas pool was averted.
    Recently released surveillance video shows 4-year-old Xavier Rigney, who is autistic and also non-verbal, jumping into a pool in a Lawrence apartment complex on May 18.
    Police said Xavier somehow got through a locked fence to make his way into the pool.

      @@MISSPESTANITAS10 happened to me yesterday at the public pool. My son wanted to go swimming , so I tried taking them. She just kept running around the pool and I kept trying to show her how to act but she kept biting me and throwing tantrums . Other parents just sit on their phone while their kids play, and stare at me struggling. I have to get some sort of mental health support, I am at my wits end. Hope things get better for you

    I know I may sound like critical Annie here, but every pool should have an enclosed fence. So thankful he's okay, but for pets and children put up a gate. I would never want a backyard pool if there's no safety fence.

      @@jeffallsbrook3999 🤔 The backyard is enclosed; there is no immediate enclosure around the pool. Meaning this child shouldn't have been able to run directly into the water like that. Stop blaming the Mother because if that's the case, where was Dad?

    It would be really helpful if we knew how he had gained access to the pool with no supervision so other parents can protect themselves against a tragedy like this

      I worked in childcare for 8 years, trust me when I say, a child sneaking off is definitely possible. Happened a lot, especially when 1 thing is happening that distracts you for a moment, thankfully nothing serious occurred when that happened for me.
      One of the children that I looked after briefly and later looked after her younger siblings, passed away due to drowning when her family went to the beach.

      Did you see how fast that kid was moving? All that could have happened in like 4 minutes. Maybe the mom needed to use the bathroom and didn’t lock the door. Maybe the kid can unlock the door. Without any information, it’s not fair to cast judgment on the parents.

    • @007nadineL
      @007nadineL 4 месяца назад

      I do judge parents when their child is running around jumping into pool and is still not there when the child gets dragged out. If a parent needs to use the bathroom then they have to secure everything before they go to the bathroom like bring the child in with them
