A super rendition of one of my all time favorite song, Adamodi galade of Sri Thyagaraja Swamy, set in Charukesi, Adi talam by Sri Lalgudi Jayaraman.
Following a brief essay of the raga, the various sangathis that Sri LGJ sets about for the pallavi is just mindblowing. One cannot ask for more as Mridangam maestro Sri Karaikudi Mani and G Harishankar on Kanjeera provide the perfect accompaniment to an ultimate rendition of the song.

Charukesi ...... only LHJ sir's rendering can roll tears from anyone's eyes .. I still remember my father telling me meeting him at the backstage and requesting Megharanjani - the reply came quickly- "Need rains?". Then sir did and it rained right after the concert!
This shows the kind of worship of music that Lalgudi Sir has done!
i can listen charukesi raagam for 24 hours a day and still not feel tired. and wht to say about lalgudi Sir. adamodi galade can be played like this only by him. RIP Lalgudi Jayaraman Sir
Violin is the closest instrument to the human voice. Lalgudi Jayaraman's Violin surpasses even the human voice. Great playing style. We have all lost him forever. May his style of playing the violin increase.
dear vinayaka, the learned consider only two instruments close to human voice - shahnaie, and sarangi. all other instruments try to come close. a master can sometimes bring it closer.
since you like violin, and charukeshi, please listen to a piece by us. sultan khan (sarangi) (accompanied by us. zakir husain on table). fortunately the full piece ia available on the youtube. however, you could skip the alap-jod-jhala and go straight to the khyaal.
there are such treasures in our classsical muaic tradition! such great treausures!

Only very few songs were composed in Carnatic Music in this Charukesi Raaga. But Tamil Cinema music directors used this in fill in olden days. Melodious raaga and I love it very much
There is no parallel to Lalgudi Baani. Creativity of the highest order by Lalgudi sir.

The BEST rendition of this krithi in Charukesi that I have heard in 58 years.
That first line is out of this entire galaxy.
I am never tired or even satisfied of listening to Sri Lalgudi's exposition of Charukeshi. each time I listen it is a new blissful experience to me. Its pure, simple sublime divine. pray God let more and more lalgudi's breed dot this world successively. so that the future generations are as fortunate as we are.
