  • Today, I stopped by Atlanta Air Charter in Kennesaw GA. atlantaaircharter.com
    Atlanta Air Charter provides different professional aviation services, including air charter, aircraft maintenance, aircraft management, aircraft storage, as well as sales and acquisition.
    We cover a lot of single pilot flying on this channel, and as much as I enjoy being a private pilot in GA, I’ve always been curious about the business side of general aviation. Charter companies are all around the country, and they provide private flying to you, if you can afford it.
    As you’ll listen to Karina explain in the video, in some cases, it’s actually more cost effective or cheaper to charter a private plane for a group of people, than flying together on a commercial airline.
    As per the aircraft Atlanta air charter uses, they have 4 well maintained Kingairs 200. Amazing turboprop airplane capable of speeds north of 300 knots.

    One of the most informative videos you've posted. Very incisive,informative and educational. Side note/indirectly - yes, it's a sweet marketing tool as well. I've had to educate many MANY of my non-aviation co-workers/friends about the differences between Part 121 and Part 135. Part 135 is, unknown to many, more affordable for many in some situations moreso than Part 121. . . and I do love King Airs! Thanks.

    These aircraft (Beechcraft B-200) can land fine at any large airport. The reason that you dont charter one from Atlanta to the West Coast is economy and flite time. A true jet (not a turboprop) is much more efficient at altitude and would probably be about the same cost as the King Air for a coast to coast trip. If you know this already please accept my apologies for lecturing but just based on the comments there seems to be some misunderstanding in the group about the reason for the "not to LA" comment.

      Unless it has changed a lot since the 90's (and it probably has changed a lot) you should expect to start off flying with a freight or mail company when you first get out your commercial rating. Lots of long hours alone at night and early morning. You will be flying aircraft owned and operated by people driven by the bottom line. You will not be carrying live passengers. Don't expect a job right out of school flying King Airs for a private charter company.

      @@aDogboydave Thx! Long hours alone at night and early morning flying sounds fine. It's gotta be better than driving. And if I take a job flying, it'll hopefully be by choice and not necessity. If their bottom line is too demanding of my happiness, they can hire someone else.

    I fly charters only when there isn't an alternative. Their safety record is half that of airlines. Tragically, a small charter jet with only two or three passengers aboard stalled and pancaked in a townhouse development incinerating the owner and two kids.
    The pilot had a similar error only months before but the outcome wasn't fatal.

    • @karinasimonis9182
      @karinasimonis9182 4 года назад +3

      HI James, I certainly understand your uncomfortableness with air travel. Atlanta Air Charter has a 100% 15 year safety record. All of our PIC's have over 20,000 hours of flight time commercially and military.

    • @aDogboydave
      @aDogboydave 4 года назад

      One of the good things about chartering is that you can actually research the individual companies safety record and local reputation. Heck, if you hang out at the FBO long enough you can probably meet the people who actually do the maintenance. You can gather your own data and make an informed decision. Some charter companies are much much much so much more careful with their training and maintenance. Others, not so much. The best and safest operators in the air today are the military and some private charter organizations. If you do your homework , flying charter can be by far the safest way to travel. Commercial aviation on the other hand is driven by the bottom line and minimum compliance with regulations. They are big factories and they make it with numbers. A lot of their maintenance is done offshore and the oversight is not what it was 30 years ago when the FAA led the world in ensuring safety and compliance with government regulation. When you fly commercial, you get what you get. If it happens to be a 737 , well get used to it. If you charter you have a choice.

    I understand the need for a charter type service like this but saying this replaces First Class on a commercial airline is misleading. I don't know of any business nowadays that books first class for any of their employees, or allows their employees to book first class, virtually none unless its part of an employment contract.
    The benefit of this type of transport is for those businesses that have a quick need for a short-haul flight. Also, a huge benefit when trying to get into a more remote location on a short-haul flight, it saves a huge amount of time without having to take multiple flights and wait time in terminals.

    • @aDogboydave
      @aDogboydave 4 года назад

      If I was a betting man, (like the owner of this charter company) I would be willing to wager that the people who are in the market for this service are not misled at all by the headline.

    • @Spec62
      @Spec62 4 года назад

      I would not characterize your statement about businesses not booking first class on a commercial airline as an absolute; it does happen. When you really begin to crunch numbers as it relates to business travel, this "niche market" charter becomes financially well suited for travelers. Just look at the numbers. Input OTHER intangibles not on paper; it makes even more financial sense. Kinda makes your "virtually none" comment a misnomer. For the most part, you've also misrepresented the level of accommodations reflected in a Part 121 "first class" seat to a Part 135 charter. How would YOU define the variance in overall quality of flight?

      I worked for a company in the optics industry a few years back, we made very high end rifle scopes. When we would travel to demo these scopes to different .gov or local LEO agencies it was a HUGE pain to have to drive 1.5hr to ATL, pay parking for 5 people, FLY WITH GUNS, pay for extra/overweight baggage fees, etc etc etc.
      Finally we started chartering and it was a life saver. We could fly with whatever we wanted, and do it from a smaller General aviation airport 20 minutes away. We actually did a few tests, and in the time it took to drive 1.5hrs to ATL airport, check in luggage and wait for departure.... the other half of the team was already on the ground in Tampa

      turbo props can most definitely fly above the clouds... The King Air 200 that is behind her has a ceiling of 35,000 ft. Optimal cruise altitude is properly somewhere in between 28,000-33,000 ft; well above the clouds.
