Indeed. It's always "powerful" and "groundbreaking" and "important," and then still makes $3 at the box-office because their focus is on normalizing sin rather than making money.

I feel like maybe I'm being dense here, but wouldn't the tertiary of couple be threesome? "I saw a couple of blackbirds sitting on top of the billboard" doesn't conjugate well into "I saw a triple of blackbirds..." In fact, isn't one less than a triple a double? e.g. "I almost ordered 2 triple cheeseburgers, but then I decided I was only hungry enough to eat 2 couple? (double**) cheeseburgers. Therefore, calling a threesome a triple is the adult equivalent of calling a 4 pronged threek a quadrork.

I was listening to two different gay guys and they had this common thread of depression and self-hatred. They perform skit comedy but yet they are never happy with themselves and rag on themselves to the point that the other people in the skit point out how much they rag on themselves. After considering this for a while, I have to wonder if it is because most of their identity is tied in their sexuality. As a heterosexual, I do not go around stating that I am a heterosexual but these men constantly point out how they are homosexual. My sexuality is the last thing that I want to be known for but for homosexuals, it seems like it is a badge that they have to show everyone. I saw this with this trailer where every joke and the way they talk, they are pointing to their sexuality. I guess I find this sad in so many ways.

The way I saw the movie, is a simple comedy made by LGBT people, for LGBT people, just laughing at themselves. In the movie theater I clearly identified other gay men both alone and in couples, having a very hard laugh at the movie. It's not meant to make any big desperate statement like you are trying to make it sound in your reaction video.

@Sanguine no. It's a made-up word that describes an inherently unstable and disordered state of affairs that can only be explained by reference to sex, thereby *violating* the child's innocence.
Monogamy upholds the dignity of the human being within a healthy society. Polygamy reduces humanity to a disordered expression of base lust, and is antithetical to human dignity. The two are not equivalent, and parading it around in public is very far from "what consenting adults do in the privacy of their own bedrooms is nobody's business". The corrosive dishonesty of what you're trying to defend is beyond sickening.

@@ironymatt lot to unpack there, but mostly I would want to say that of course 'thruple' is a made-up word...all words are made up.... that's how we get new words xD
Polygamy can easily be explained without reference to sex, the same way monogamy can: these people love each other. I can only speak of the few people I know who are in active thruples, but they seem very happy and well put together, I can't see how their "human dignity" is being diminished.
The problem is that you can't conceive of any of this, because your broader metaphysical positions have left you in a a state where you just have to flatly deny that these people could love each other with the full force of their humanity, you have to diminish it or say it is purely about sex.
To be clear, if people can wear t-shirts that "parade" the fact they're in a monogamous relationship, then same goes for polygamy. If your own moral argument against it is "I think it is icky, and my religion agrees", that isn't good enough. These 3 people weren't making out or anything, they were wearing dorky matching T-shirts.

Makes the Lord sick with nausea. Even the devil leaves in disgust.
St. Catherine relays words of Our Lord, about the vice against nature, which contaminated part of the clergy in her time.
Referring to sacred ministers, He said: "They not only fail from resisting this frailty [of fallen human nature]…but do even worse as they commit the cursed sin against nature.
Like the blind and stupid having dimmed the light of the understanding, they do not recognize the disease and misery in which they find themselves.
For this not only causes Me nausea, but displeases even the demons themselves, whom these miserable creatures have chosen as their lords.
For Me, this sin against nature is so abominable that, for it alone, five cities were submersed, by virtue of the judgment of My Divine Justice, which could no longer bear them.
…It is disagreeable to the demon, not because evil displeases them and they find pleasure in good, but because their nature is angelic and thus is repulsed upon seeing such an enormous sin being committed.
It is true that it is the demons who hits the sinner with the poisoned arrow of lust, but when a man carries out such a sinful act, the demons leaves."

in all honesty I think your basic film analysis is probably right, it does seem like a pretty schlocky, run-of-the-mill Rom-Com. The last couple of jokes made me laugh out loud, but I do think you have to be LGBTQ+ to really have this hit home, and ultimately that is the pre-condition for a lot of comedy: you have to understand and relate to the situation or topic that is being made fun of.
I do, however, hope this means that gay relationships are getting to the point where they are so passé and normalized that we as a society can have them just be another thing we jest about (because there is a lot to work with there! xD).
I hope we get to the point where straight couples are comfortable enough with gay relationships that they offer unsolicited, unfounded and often straight-forwardly bad advice based on their own preconceptions, just like they do with other straight relationships!
I would also say that the characters in the board meeting are, quite obviously, caricatures. Their dialogue is a knowing and ironic look at what can be genuinely held views by some people in LGBTQ+ spaces. Same with the comment of bi-erasure in the first bit of the trailer. I'm not so sure I'd draw larger socio-political take-aways about the movement from a rom-com trailer.
Probably won't go to see it in cinemas, but looking forward to it being shown on an in-flight movie or afternoon film on some TV channel.
(though I would probably go to see Trent's pitch, that does actually sound like a good idea! xD)

I'd trade any potential thrill of breaking a taboo for society to treat it as mundane as straight relationships.
That being said, I think the point of that clip was more he was exasperated by the unhelpfulness of the advice he was getting and the seeming joy the entire family was taking in it; to which he laments he wouldn't have had to put up with the dance et al. if they were still queasy about gay sex as much as it was about the tension between the thrill of transgression vs the safety of acceptance.
      It's a comedy.
Explaining the jokes a)are not going to make them funnier and b)aren't going to reveal deep truths about gay people or the LGBTQ+ movement in general, outside of the fact that we're not some monolithic hive mind. Regarding monogamy, if the basis for it is a perception of sexual attraction or compatibility *rather than* the eternal love of God, then there will necessarily be an expiration date to the union. Sex is meant to be the dessert, not the main course, and no one can be sustained for very long solely by dessert.

I only saw the trailer & it didn't click as funny to me either, but not because Christian principles were being comprimised, but because the attempt at being funny seemed a lil feigned to me to. Their was one amusing line in there about gay sex being more exciting when straights are put off by it. Was that an indictment on gay culture, or was that just a pun about anyones maturation. Rebellion or being contrary is just a right of passage for all young people. In the play called "The Fantastics" neighbor's pretended that they didn't want their kids who grew up friends to get together as a couple, because they knew their kids would do the opposite as kids often do. The whole play was based on that & it was funny. The line in Bros refers to the same thing. Maybe there is more humor in this movie than the trailor shows & if so it won't be the 1st time that happens.

What is never mentioned during the post mortem of these movies is the very real visceral disgust normal people have of homosexuality, not on moral grounds, but a built in aversion with a basis in evolution. This fact is always missing. The human species has evolved with this disgust intact for obvious reasons. It's not impolite to mention it.

As is obvious from our actual natural selves, men and women are only intelligible in relationship to one another. The abnormal inclinations and behaviors as the Otago U NZ student body showed the less than 1% who did not see themselves as normal were 300% more likely to have suffered sexual and other abuse. So too the NYC AIDS studies of the '80's. And the Denmark 30 million record data found the behaviors tied to early death of a parent, early divorce and other alienation from the same sex parent.
Most people were sold by our media and cult-ure that people are "just born that way". However the largest cohort identical twin studies with one identical twin acting homosexually found concordance rates in the other twin as low as 5%. Nobody is "born that way". We have been going to parades of abused children while we groom new victims with our confusion and hesitancy to speak up. Lastly, there are 300% more ex-gays... people who swore they "were" gay .. and now are not , than there are so called gays. This includes a friend of min I played tennis with who was totally shocked to learn that there is no such thing as a heterosexual or homosexual. As Dr Paul McHugh shows, there is no science behind this at all. There is only mature or immature sexual behavior with our reproductive organs. We have a nature.

Lol, you people seems to live way back in 1800s, if so why do heterosexual couples always end of divorcing, many end up singles with either single moms or single dads with kids, many even send them up for adoption. Homosexuality is found in animal species so if your justifying a way to attack gays then you arn't educated

I’m Autistic (hence my website) and would love for Autism Acceptance to be achieved; I can honestly say that if Autism Acceptance is achieved, by far, the last thing on my mind will be putting-down non-Autistic people, I’d be too busy celebrating, being grateful and rejoicing in the fact that my future children won’t have to deal with all the stuff that we Autistic people have to deal with now. Even now I have pretty much no interest in tearing-down non-Autistic people, I do enjoy a joke or quip about them every now and then, and they can frustrate and disappoint me at times (although to be fair, my fellow-Autistic folk can frustrate me as well, many of them are gripped by leftism and they don’t understand how suicidal it is to be part of an ideology whose key tenet is anti-natalism), but my primary focus is to help build-up my own life and the lives of my family, friends, future wife and children, and my own people; both fellow-Autistic folks and fellow-members of the Mystical Body of Christ.

I wish my kids could have a world where they are accepted for themselves. Bigotry runs rampant in the church and people hide behind vague Bible verses that get contradicted in the the next book. I have seen so much hate come towards the community because of blind Faith. I have had my children told that they are demon possessed. I have seen there epileptic mother told that they that she doesn't have enough faith that's why she still has seizures. As a gay person, having a crappy rom com is amazing. We never get anything like this, which is why media like this makes us seen. If straight people can have bad rom coms, why can’t we?
Also this is gay humor. It is meant for an audience that usually not Christian. I think the humor is hilarious. Me and my gay friends make fun of straight people because a lot of them hate us. We poke fun at them because it is funny, which goes back to the gay target audience.
Also, another thing when people go into stores and see pride everywhere, gay people aren’t promoting it, the stores are. To make a profit. A lot of people see pride as a cash grab as who can reduce the most pride Merch. And the thing is we buy it, because that is the only thing we have to represent ourselves. It’s a moral dilemma that a lot of gay people have.
