- The Kamov Ka-26 is a multi-purpose, light helicopter, mainly used for training flights, agricultural tasks, passenger and cargo transport, cargo transport and other utility purposes. The helicopter was designed and built in the Soviet Union, it has two Vedeneyev M14-V-26 petrol powered, four stroke radial engines with 9 cyl. providing 325 horsepower each. Due to the relatively low airspeed of the helicopter, to maintain the proper cylinder head and oil temperatures the engines were produced with an iron fan, which makes the unique siren sound, as a result it is often falsely believed that the Ka-26 has gas turbine engines. Thanks to the co-axial main rotor system this type is extremely benign, the vast majority of pilots loves and loved to fly it.
Aeropark is an aviation museum located next to Terminal 2 at Budapest Airport in Hungary, featuring 13 aircraft and a whole fleet of ground support vehicles from the time when Hungarian civil aviation was using solely Soviet technology. Most aircraft and helicopters are open and can be visited inside as well including cockpits where retired crew members can entertain visitors.
