Theory:
The wizard is actually an older alternative version of billy of when he never managed to beat the nightmares and he’s stuck there forever. He waits for his younger version of him to come and beat the final boss but then he betrays him and the wizard is actually the end game boss, and he escaped leaving billy stuck there forever until he waits for his younger self to come. Of course there’re a lot of missing pieces to back this theory up I do believe it is a possibility
Haha that's an interesting theory!
Been following for around 4 months. You guys are doing a great job. I particullary love how you solved the design issues you encountered, really smart stuff :D
Thanks, Geri! It means a lot :D
I've been seeing these devlogs since i saw the first one, i binged them all, it took about 30 minutes because there were only 5 :).
Keep making awesome games and videos Jonas :).
Thank you, Comrade_Meitluv! It means a lot that you wanted to binge my videos :)
@@JonasBroman I think seeing a game evolve, even slowly, is pretty cool, keep up the good work!
Its been 2 years that means I've been following this game for 2 years wow that's crazy. Good job keep it up.
Thank you, linx arts! :)
You welcome, thanks man.
I've been watching this since the "adding requested abilities" videos and have since seen all your videos! I really enjoy seeing what you add to the game!
Thank you, The Waterleaf! I'm glad you like it :)
i have actually binge watched all your devlogs in one day like 4 month ago and i am a huge fan
Awesome! Feels great to have a huge fan ^^
hey man, i've been here from your first devlog, i love your game, and i'ts a "MUST BUY" for me, so continue with this awesome game, I think it'll end up being even more incredible than now.
Thanks, it means a lot! :D
Nice to see all the progress in one single video. You have come so far :D
Yeah it's been a long journey :D
I have been following for about 9 months. Keep up the great work!
Thank you, Jeff Minbiole!
Glad to see you guys still motivated and working on the project. It's easy to feel overwhelmed when approaching bugs. I know too well how frustrating it feels to seem like you're not moving forward and everything you fix just creates other problems. Taking a short break is a good solution and leaning in those things that keep you going!
Yeah, it's pretty frustrating. Especially when you want to work on new stuff instead.
It has been so awesome seeing this game evolve over all this time! Keep it up Jonas! :D
Oh, and I've been following ever since you commented on my first devlog, 7 months ago! :)
Thank you, Daniel! :D
Oh it's really been 7 months now. Time flies ^^
Wow! I started watching after the 1 year in the making/mounts video, and it's awesome to see how far you guys have come! I love that you took all the negative feedback and made it into such a positive. The game does really feel unique, and from what I've played in the demo is tons of f(h)un! For anyone new seeing the game for the first time, definitely stick around!!!
Haha tons of f(h)un! xD
Thank you, Garrett! And it's awesome that you have followed the game for such a long time :D
I've been subbed before Billy's Nightmare, I found the old top down shooter videos a long time ago and subscribed :)
That's pretty amazing! :D
Maybe a hospital with zombies and ghosts, or a mall with guards might work as levels! Keep the amazing work guys!!
Thank you for the suggestions, Tadeo!
Hey I love your game your first devlog actually made me really love dev and I’m exited for a full release -3 years In the making-
Thanks, Matt! It means a lot :)
o wow, congrats for the 2 years and hope the new level is coming along fine since the last dev update, i discovered this game thanks to youtube when the demo was already out, and now i will follow it until it is complete
Thank you, lorde ventos! I hope you'll stick around :)
Awesome devlog buddy :)
Thank you, Kewin! :)
I love how this entire project is turning out! really good work. what If you added an enemy which plays with an invincibility period, like they come out of the ground or dig back in as a zombie or a miner in the western scene maybe they chase you underground and pop up, or just stay sedentary.
I think I would be cool too if there was a horror themed scene like thriller or nightmare on elm street, I feel like that would really fit the theme of the game.
I think it would be cool to have a swamp monster enemy, or make him more a fish/shark man to fit deep sea. you could also have a director enemy who shows up throughout all of the rooms just at a low chance or a guy with a clapperboard, this might add more connection between the rooms so each scene isn't disconnected from the rest, or maybe you want that feeling.
I think the clapperboard could also be an unlocked ability if you find it in the later level as a progression element. maybe a film camera could be another ability. Im sure I could spout some more ideas but these were the main ones on the top of my head. Just some really great work guys and I look forward to see what becomes of this.
Actually one last thing, for the boss of the film scene It would be cool if the boss fit with one of the themes and there was a random chance for which boss you get to add replay-ability. Idk how implementable that would be and It would require a lot of work with implementing different bosses but maybe that was already an Idea you had In mind. anyways I look forward to seeing some more progress, whatever that turns out to be.
Thank you, Haydo Potato! And I liked your suggestions :)
Been following since I think September 2019, great work!
Thank you for following the devlogs, Jagriel! :)
jeez it really has been a year, huh? I've been following the project since the first devlog you put out, the time really flew by!
It's awesome that you have followed the devlogs for so long! :D
@@JonasBroman Well it's awesome to see the project's progress!
following you since the first year video. Kinda crazy that someone like you read and even replied. I don't know what to think about the time spent here. Thank you for bringing us such nice and welcoming videos.
Alright, this is funny. I once again play your new demo and... I managed to harpoon multiple enemies outside of a room. the doors can be passed by projectiles. Sorry to inform you about this.
Thank you for following the devlogs for such a long time, Middas! :)
Yeah, there are some problems with the doors since the last update. Thanks for letting me know though!
Been following since day one bro!
Wow that's pretty awesome! :D
A tentacle would fit perfectly with the underwater set, the tentacle could go underground and impossible to hit then it comes back up and spins to fire projectiles in a circle and have a timer before going back underground
Thanks for the suggestion, Darnell Neal! A tentacle enemy sounds cool :)
I think I’ve been following this for just under a year
That's awesome! :)
started following today,
Awesome! Welcome, Adriano :)
I can’t believe it has been a year since the first devlog....
I know right! ^^
Ive been seeing since the first develog, youtube recommendation xD
Haha that's so cool! ^^
this game is the best love the devlog
Thank you, lightningdr2009! I'm glad you like it :D
Here's an idea: a fun house level with moving floor, creepy clowns and a fun house mirrors that will spawn mirror Billy's; they would have wierd proportions and will shatter into bullets upon defeat.
Thanks for the suggestions, anonymous dude! Creepy clowns sounds like a good idea for enemies :)
Since the first devlog :)
That's awesome! :D
I think I've been following you for about 2 months but watched all devlogs in less than a week 🤣🤣
Haha that's awesome! ^^
Wow I can't believe it's been 2 years. Wow 👌😍
Yeah, I can't even remember what I used to do before working on this game xD
Such a big mark congrats it’s looking amazing
Thank you, Scylx! :D
No problem, I should be thanking you for being so cool! 😎
I have followed you guys for 4-7 months i think.
Wow that's awesome! :D
Wow it’s been an year??? Cant belive it!
I know right! ^^
This is like a really good story with hope and stuff... 1. the idea 2. the downfall 3. thinking about giving up 4. the epic rise.... well + downfall again
I'm glad you noticed! I tried to make an interesting arc for the video ^^
You sould add a costume where if you beat the 1st floor without taking damage you get it and the main attack is shoot 2 fireballs from there hands and the second is invincibility for 3-5 seconds
Thanks for the suggestion, Goob!
👏👏👏
😁
@@JonasBroman I've benn following development since the second devlog (but of course I watched first too ^^)
Been following since ep3
Awesome! :)
I've been here since the first episode
Wow that's awesome! :)
I think I'm here from dev log 10:))
That's awesome, Danny! :)
It’s come so far, prove me wrong?
What? xD
It’s come so far, and improved so much!
@@eyitsgallery Haha thanks, Cuppa!
I’m also glad you liked the director idea in the discord, have a nice day!
Hey if you ever see this, it would be really cool if you could make a video or something about the level generation and how it works, I'm a game developer myself and the way your levels generate would be perfect for my game
I guess I could make a video about it, but there's too much code to make it a step by step guide. So it would be more of a "This is roughly how it's done" type of video.
@@JonasBroman even then that would be amazing, just a rough idea. And you could also maybe have the code in a pastebin or something for people who would want to look through the code?
since last year
Awesome!
What game engine are you using?
We're using Game Maker Studio 1.4
@@JonasBroman Cool. May I ask you why are you using the older version, and not 2?
@@novato5106 Because why not?
+1 sub boyo
Thanks, Galo!
Probably dev #9ish
That's awesome, SumGuy! :D
can you make the demo for mac
I think we'd have to buy Game Maker 2 and also an extra license to be able to export to Mac.
Zero six zero
hey, im sure this has been a topic before, but considering your games' theme, isn't it a bit strange that this game is still quite brutal? i think this aspect really clashes with the theme and feels weird. have you thought of at least making the violence more cartoony or make other changes to the violence?
We kinda like the violence but thanks for leaving feedback, Max! :)
