- Tour the Celebrity Cruises' lunch buffet! See what food you can expect at the Oceanview Café, which is the cruise line's buffet restaurant. For part 1 you will see the items that were available every day, plus the Welcome Aboard & the American theme buffet. All the food you see in the video are complimentary- included with the cruise fare. Celebrity had a nice variety of food including Latin favorites, Kid's Corner, Asian & Vegan sections, plus daily specials. There was also a custom stir-fry and pasta station as well.
You'll also see the food from the pizza and ice cream areas (Scoops), which are connected to the Oceanview Café, but have different operating hours.

These were from our 6 night Western Caribbean cruise aboard the Celebrity Apex in late December 2022. You should expect a similar lineup of food from the other Edge-class ships as well, such as the Celebrity Beyond, Edge & the upcoming Ascent.

That looks like a great buffet! The pizza was the best cruise ship pizza I have seen, I like my pizza crust slightly well done and that looked perfect.

1) I will always say, the music selection on your videos is most excellent. Somehow, the music lightly playing in the background gives me a really good feeling. It makes me happy!
2) Celebrity's buffet looks *next-level.* I couldn't find much here that I would pass on. I would HAVE to try that paella with squid ink! RCL seems to be cutting back, and the offerings here look extremely tempting. I know I would be very tempted to only eat in the buffet if I were on this cruise. Forget the MDR. Part of the fun of cruising for me is trying out new dishes and flavors I've never had before. I want excitement!!! That's what Celebrity's buffet has, so I'm intrigued. All of those desserts look so fresh and lovely. I've never cruised with Celebrity, so now I'm going to have to give them a try.
3) What is it about cruise pizza that makes it so delicious?!! The pizza shown here looks so appealing, I would HAVE to give it a try. When I did my first sailing back in 2019, I went on Royal's Oasis of the Seas, and the pizza did not look so tempting, so at first, I passed. Then while we were waiting in line at the buffet, one of my fellow passengers told me I *HAD* to try the pizza because he thought it was so delicious. Reluctantly, I went for it (it's included, so why not?), and absolutely fell in love with it. In my opinion, Royal has some of the best pizza at sea. Of course, I loved Princess's pizza in their Gigi's restaurant as well (Alfredo's pizza on the Majestic was terrible). I can't remember if Norwegian's Encore had a pizza restaurant, but I know I didn't have any pizza on that sailing.
4) If Celebrity is doing this well in their buffet, then I need to try them. RCL is making me nervous, because I thought all of their food pre-Covid was smashing, and now they're scaling *way* back. Princess did a phenomenal job on the Discovery, so it seems to me like RCL is the only cruise line that's scaling back, I dunno.
Anyway, it's super important to me that a cruise line get the food right. I feel like food quality and quantity either makes or breaks a sailing. Princess did me dirty on an Alaska sailing once, and I was super soured on them for a while. Then they made up for it on a Cabo voyage. This totally feels like a post-game play-by-play 😂
Just returned from a 11 day on the Celebrity Edge, the Oceanview Cafe definitely did not measure up to what you showed on your video presentation. They really cut back in there food service in all venues. Two islands open for dinner . Dining rooms fair. Cruised with Celebrity 8 times , twice for 28 days on the Constellation. Food on the Edge a real disappointment 😢
Thank you so much! 😊 Definitely learned to have use more suitable music vs some older videos we did 😁 Definitely agree with your observations- the variety was quite good, especially with the desserts. Now if you do cruise Celebrity, we did find that that the Apex (and presumably other Edge-class ships) had a better buffet vs the the Millennium which was an older ship we took right after the Apex. Yes on the pizza- one of the best at sea we've tried, though on the Millennium it wasn't as good. The Discovery Princess sounds like it had some good food- we hope to cruise Princess again later this year!

that looks excellent, actually more going on here than the Rotterdam buffet. For one, on Hal (at least on Pinnacle), pizza is only at the NYDP (and it's just so-so). These pizzas looked good, and they had a couple of sliced up calzones also, which shows good creativity in using dough and other 'on hand' foods. I actually try my hardest to not eat a big lunch on any cruise b/c I save my appetite for dinner mostly--but this looks excellent.

I have an idea about the suggestion of more "gourmet" pizza? As you mentioned earlier, you can get anything stir-fried. Well, maybe grab those toppings you'd like, get them stir-fried into a bowl...then go hit the pizza station? ;) Thanks for the video!

Which ship and cruise line has the best complimentary food in your opinion??
Thanks you very much! 😊 It's pretty subjective but we think HAL does have the best included food, though Princess, Celebrity (esp their newer ships) and Cunard were excellent as well. Carnival and Royal both have very tasty comfort food. Have a wonderful time on your HAL cruise!

Thank you! 🙂 The staff is always very helpful- if they don't happen to know right away they will go into the galley and get the answer. The Indian food ranged from mild to a little spicy.

Our pleasure! 😊 They didn't have a specific gluten free section, but we noticed quite a few items that were labeled gluten free.
Looked really good. I would have a taste of almost all meats...no lamb or fish though.
It was pretty good! 😋 There was lamb stew on the Welcome Aboard lunch (and more from other themed buffets you'd see in Part 2), and there was a fish dish every buffet. For instance Grilled John Dory Fish on day 1, and Pan Seared Cobia with White Wine & Capers Sauce on day 2.

I’m so confused about the Zero Proof prices shown @ 11:40. If I get the Zero Proof drink package do I still have to pay for drinks from the Zero Proof list?
If you have the zero proof package then yup no need to pay extra- those prices are for guests without the drinks package 🙂

also, how were desserts? other cruise lines' desserts have been bland for me....I won't name the cruise line. either they wouldn't have enough butter or vanilla or something would be off in the dish.

How is celebrity versus Royal Caribbean’s value for the price. One is definitely more than the other is their value in that difference?
It used to be that Celebrity was priced higher, but now it seems to be the reverse. For a family vacation, a large Royal Caribbean ship (Oasis or Quantum class) would be more fitting with all things to do. Celebrity is quieter and the food is a little better. Thanks for the question!
Everything looked good except the quinoa (not a fan) and the scary gigantic carving knife (at 15:42) 🤣. The gyro station was pretty amazing in that the chef goes to all that trouble to make it authentic. The desserts all looked AMAZING and I would PAY to be able to just sit in the corner and watch the pastry chefs in action crafting those beautiful creations. Celebrity seems to not be cutting back on food service like Royal Caribbean. We might be going on Celebrity Equinox in May if we can work it out. Thank for posting this video! There are some really good deals on some of the OLDER Celebrity ships (Millenium and Solstice classes) that are better than a good number of the Royal Caribbean ships. Do realize that the amenities (and their target audiences) are a lot different.

Celebrity has cut many items in the Buffet, MDR starting Jan 2023...
Also Room service is now $9.95 plus gratuities.
I totally agree,starting in 2023 they really cut back , they nailed us over $10.00 for breakfast room sevice
@Cleejack I was on Celebrity in February 2023 and I did not see any significant cutbacks other than the "only one free lobster." I saw no cutbacks in service which was efficient and welcoming.
I have been on FOUR CRUISES (RCCL, HAL, NCL, and Celebrity) in the last year and honestly, Celebrity was the ONLY cruise that did not have significant misses in entertainment or service.
@Cleejack The biggest issue in HAL Konigsdam (12-22) was a serious lack of staff at a time when they were nearly full. In the MDR, there were longer waits and once you were given all of your food, the wait staff would be elsewhere. If you did not order everything up front, you might not get it later. Second, while the food was great, the variety was really lacking. In the buffet, you would see only 3-4 dessert options for dinner which is not the opulence you would expect for that class of ship.
I would say that Celebrity was more welcoming, had overall better service in all departments and had slightly better food. I would say that noone matches HAL for enrichment, entertainment and music.
Both cruises were great and we are looking to book something on HAL or Celebrity in the coming months. There are a lot of things to like on both ships and they are ideal for an older audience.
