What's funny is that this specific Ebony model sounded better than the other Studio models demoed on this channel, while using the same amp… Maybe matter of settings, idk.

Agreed. But just keep in mind that if you get five Gibsons or five Fenders custom shop, they still will NOT sound the same. Some more ressonant, some not. Some more ballanced, some not.

@@HenriqueWernerbr not only CS… so in my case I entered my local AD wanting a Standard, tried all models they had on display (Tribute, Studio, Standard 50s and 60s, Traditional, Custom), walked out with a Tribute I still absolutely love today. They're all different and it's really matter of feeling when you actually play them, that's why all these YT videos are interesting but can't even approximate the real experience.

@@n1k0_ yes indeed. The best option is always if you have the chance to play the instrument. You know, wood... That's organic. And as a drummer, I can tell you that this happens to drumsticks a lot. Some are dryer and have more density than others. Even CS being kinda guarantee of a better wood selection and building.

I own 1 just like this one, but mine does not have a push down knob. Why?

      I’m trying to decide too.
It’s either the Black Metal Arrow or this if I invest a little more. I’m in no rush so I could get either.
You can’t go wrong with both though.
This one is more versatile if that’s what you’re looking for.
I, myself, would like the option but I usually just use the bridge pickup for most things and would love the whammy bar.

@@Warship63 Same thing for me, I think the Wine Red would look great with open coil double blacks and Kluson tuner and the Ebony looks good with this set-up. If I get one before you do I will let you what I decided.

The one I bought is set up perfectly and actually stays in tune, unlike the last Gibson les paul I owned. I would also take these pickups any day of the week over the BB pros that I had on my last one that were sterile sounding. The 490/498 are warner... which is why the custom shop guitars have them. Now the cons... the finishes are boring and fingerprint magnets. I mean that black and red ones are sooo old... the tangerine looks like an easter egg. I bought the smokehouse burst and it looks like an ash tray from a 70s lounge... but is supposed to be a modern color? Again, sooo boring. Also, the coil tapping is worthless on this guitar... sounds terrible. Prs coil tapping is waaaay better in every way. If you are thinking of saving money and buying the tribute instead... and don't care to pay more for a high gloss finish I would say go with the tribute the coil splits aren't worth the added cost. I do think the finish looks better than most tributes but still lacking. But so are the new Gibson standard colors now... Gibson fans are just boring and only want the same old thing their rock idols had back in the day versus something new and modern. That's why I have three PRS guitars and only one Gibson. Prs is light years ahead with design, colors, etc. My cheaper PRS Chris Robertson even sounds better than my new Gibson studio and it's asian made..go figure. But again this studio is still a great sounding guitar. I'm so glad they got rid of the awful Kluson tuners. They were a real eye sore. Maybe that's why this one actually stays in tune. I'm still deciding if this Gibson is a keeper. If I didn't have better sounding and playing PRS guitars I would definately keep it. With all of this said at least you can get a usa pro sounding Gibson... same as the standard without the bling you don't need... for less that $1,500. You have to spend about $3,800 to get a core PRS... and the cheaper PRS either don't have set necks or are Asian made... but still epic
