Mate, this is enormous for me! I bought a Boss RC500 loop station and sold it because it was just too much. ALL I wanted was to be able to solo a little over a passage in an acoustic recording. I spent about 20 minutes trying to double-tap the one play/record/clear/undo button and come back in-time and I just couldn't get the timing right. Finding out I can assign the buttons to the footswitches is just huge. I can't wait to try my set out and play something interesting!
This is so useful, thank you!! In my case I found clearing the loop a little tricky using just the 1 button (I can see it going wrong live...), so I made a special patch just for looping, where I assign 2 buttons (record/od and play/stop - I like to keep the tuner on FS3).
Thanks a lot for the informative video! A couple questions: - Do you know if you can synchronize tempo over MIDI from an external source? - Can you use the Looper while using an amp/cab simulator? Thanks again!
After a few weeks of studying this video I finally figured it out….. one question though how do I get it to single tap it seems like at double tap stop and play to engage?
@@ScottUhlMusic I’m good on that front (I’ve got the stomp xl) I’m still trying to find a less clunky way of clearing the previous loop so I can move to next song. Just a “one press” and done. I thought the “undo” would take care of it but not the original loop.
Hi Scott. Thanks for your very useful videos ! Regarding the undo feature, I can undo overdubs by long pressing the FS while in playing mode. Is it what you were looking for? Thanks again for vids anyway, very instructionnal! Regards, PE
Ahhh really? I swear I tried that and I could not get it to work! I figured it was a hold, but it never worked for me! I’ll have to try it again, or maybe I was holding incorrectly in OD mode or something. Thanks for the comment 🤘
Wish the Looper could be set to automatically start recording when I start playing. Seems like a huge oversight to me, as it makes the Looper much harder to use. I have no problem with you promoting your other videos, as they are some of the best and most helpful videos for HX Stomp users. 👍
Yeah that feature would be nice for sure, and it’s pretty common with loopers. I’m sure they could do that with a firmware update if they decide to. And thank you! I appreciate that 😊
I don't know looper that'll do that. For having spent years live looping, I much prefer playing at least a bar before looping, timing is more sure that way.
@@iansmirna5183 Both my old Boss RC-2 and DigiTech JamMan Stereo Looper can be set to automatically start recording when I start playing. Also, the Mobius Looper software can be set to do that too.
Thank you for this! I’m hoping I can drop a quick question on here in case you or some other viewer are still reading old comments and know its answer. When I assign the buttons via command center the record button is a split second late so my first note is cut off (I do not have this problem with the 1 button looper or any other looper). Is this something you just get used to? Or is my unit somehow misbehaving (in which case I’d have to troubleshoot it.)
Very useful! Thanks for sharing. I wonder though is it possible for the half speed to retain the original pitch as opposed to dropping an octave? That would be super cool.

Great video Thank You. When you assign the options to each Footswitch is there way to have the footswitches themselves change colour like on the simple one button version you showed at the start?? So Green for play and Red for record on fs2 and Amber for overdub on fs1??
@@ScottUhlMusic Thanks mate, that is a shame that it doesn’t. Also I wish the option to have name of the effect was light up on the screen but then when engaged just the light around the corresponding footswitch lights up. It would make it easier on darker stages to see which is which!!

Hi, I’m looking for a way to d9 a “one press” clear of the loop. The “press and hold” always plays a fragment (or the whole loop if I screw it up😱) before I can clear it. Any ideas on that one? Asking Scott as well
Hi Scott, I’ve been successful with the looper except for one thing. Clearing the previous loop-“Press and hold” always plays a fragment of it before it stops. I’m looking for a method of clearing it with one press.
Just found this video - very helpful, thanks, but my question is: once you've set up the looper are you able to change your patches to use different sounds in the stomp while looping? Thanks again
Assigning is actually much easier than that! You can just have the block you want to assign highlighted, then touch (with a finger!) the button you want to assign to (don’t press it down, just touch it), then it’ll ask if you want to assign it there, just click yes!
great vid! is there a function in HX stomp like the same with DL4 where when you stomp the play once preset it will play over and over again everytime you stomp it like a sampler?thanks in advance
Awesome video, man! I have been searching the webs in regards to the following question: Do you lose the loop when switch between presets / snapshots? I would love to overdub different sounds. My hope is that always keeping the looper at the end of each patch will do the trick, but maybe the software erases the recording, giving you a “clean slate”? 🤔
Hmm I haven’t tried that. But my guess is that you would lose the loop when you switch patches. That’s my guess. But using snapshots is a good way to get multiple tones for looping 👍
Thank you! And you cannot daisy chain expression pedals because you only get 2 extra options with the expression input which can either be FS 4, FS 5, EXP 1, or EXP 2. You only get to chose 2 of those. Cheers 👍
On the stomp? If it’s with an external pedal it’s likely setup incorrectly to do momentary/latching wrong. Try switching those settings if you can. That’s likely the issue
when a loop is playing back, can I use the tuner and not interrupt the playback? Mainly thinking of using the shuffle looper in between songs for when I have to tune. I’m planning on getting an XL. Thanks!
