  • Therapy? - Harlesden Mean Fiddler (LA2), London. August 9, 1991. Support to 'Babes In Toyland'.
The oldest video footage of Therapy? that's circulating. I uploaded some of this a while ago but have been asked to upload the full show, so here it is. I transferred it from probably a 2nd generation vhs so it's pretty decent quality considering its age! The end of "Punishment Kiss" is also missing from my recording.

Fyfe Ewing was clearly one of the most insanely talented drummers to have ever lived on planet earth....and hardly anyone has heard of him! Long live Therapy? Such a shame he left but that's life eh 👍

I think what people forget when Fyfe left is that the balance of the band completely collapsed with him. Fyfe was obviously into EBM/EDM and carried a lot of the songs with Andy with the equivalent of a Hart-Mould vocal relationship in Husker Du. The mix of dance with rock and metal is what gave them their edge at the time. If you listen to Teethgrinder, it's not like anything else really at the time and they couldn't have done it individually only as an oddly matched 3 piece. It shouldn't have worked but it did with these 3 in the band. After Fyfe left they became something else different. It's a pity as they were fucking bonkers during this period and it shouldn't have worked but it did. It's good that they are still together and making music now, if only the Ewing-Cairns relationship wasn't so fractious and had lasted to produce a few more songs like Loose. They were definitely onto something with the 2 vocalists and the call and response technique.

Fyfe is the most amazing drummer this planet has ever produced! He should be the new drummer for Bad Religion! I do believe that this is the only live footage I've ever seen where Fyfe is not wearing a Jesus Lizard t-shirt.

Oh my days, what a find this is? This was the band at their finest.. The two Wiija EPS were untouchable. After Fyfe went they should have broke up

They had the US leg of the infernal love tour to complete so they had to find a drummer

If they did, we wouldn't have gotten the untouchable brilliance of Semi Detached, Suicide Pact, High Anxiety, NANE, One Cure, Disquiet or Cleave. The best band ever should never break up

I know Fyfe is an absolute beast on the drums while singing as well (!!!!!) but my god is Andy my absolute idol. I'll also never forget throwing metal horns at Michael and getting them straight back at Cardiff. Best band ever

It was such a shame that he did
but I heard in article that it was doing his head in and I think he thought, get out before I do something stupid.
Fair play to him, you know a rock and roll lifestyle can really fuck you up.

As I recall, playing live just did his head in. Fyfe was quite introverted and wouldn’t really engage with people on tour, keeping himself to himself - basically he just didn’t enjoy gigging. It’s a real shame as he was a fucking incredible musician and I’d genuinely never seen a drummer like him before, in fact calling him just a drummer seems like an insult. I think he kept himself out of the limelight after Therapy? and that’s a real shame because he should be regarded as one of the best ever.
