It's amazing how the quality of MCN's video crew has improved. Ever since 2010 started the reviews and video quality are way better than last year. You really get a sence of expertice from the people from MCN. From the camera man, to the riders an hosts, my god MCN, well done. We can expect some good reviews from you this 2010. Congratulations!!!
Hey guys this is an awesome video, probably your best to date. The camera work and the new music really adds a good vibe to this video, the only downside is that the audio is out of sync.. But please do make more videos like this, this is your best video to date.
I haven't sat on or rode the MV, but i totally love my Streetfighter S and wouldn't swap it for anything except maybe a Desmosedici RR. It is also easy to ride everyday so i disagree with the testers on what they think.
Had both and loved both. Like he said, the MV is more user friendly. On a day to day basis, I take the Brutale. The Ducati is hard to ride and doesn't feel as safe on roads. But if you plan on taking it to the race track, the Ducati is so much fun. But why take a streetfighter over a real race bike then.
Great job fellas, Last time I sat on a Brutale I got a charley horse, I'm tallish (6'4") and the ergos seemed focussed on someone sub 6' tall. Like both bikes but too boutique to be daily drivers IMO or promoted as such unless you are well coined. Not a negative, just an opinion. Great bikes in their own right and bikes that I would love to have in my personal stable one day all the same.
Having a 2008 gsxr 750 and having ridden that for my first bike I would have to choose the MV as my next bike. My reason's have more to do with comfort and living daily with a bike i would like to get out of the racer position for riding through town every day not that I ride my gixxer everyday. Also I am vertically challenged at about 5'4" so seat height comes in to question with every motorcycle purchase.
Cool,, my personal opinion is that is one of their trophy designs that should never be discarded. In no otherway has any valvetrain system shown as much performance with such a basic idea.
@ephesus All very true. Only one thing tho. The 1090 rr has one beastly torque, you got plenty of punch even at low revs, and the more it revs the more you get, but really, you never feel like you'd need more, even at low rpm, it's just one insane engine, i found it perfect. Might not have the berserk of a Ducati testastretta at low and mid revs, but what comes after it makes up for that. And yup, that's coming from one proud Ducati owner and lover.
Personally the Brutale just doesn't do it for me in the looks category while the Streetfighter is something to drool over. No second guessing which I'd go for. Performance wise - it's mostly down to the rider anyway, so choose the one you think looks best.
I own a MV 1090RR and this bike is for real man.. I mean it's not a beginner bike and before ryde that kind of brutality.. you better have experience.. between both bikes I would say that the MV have all the power that the Ducati plus the confort ... take it like you want but the MV should be a smarter choice..
I like V twins also because of their rich sounds But you know that 2009 R1 kind of sounds like a Twin. But I would rather have a Ducati so what about the maintenance it's a joy to have and ride but for now I'll stick with my CBR
A buddy of mine has a Brutale', and it is a very nice bike. Quite expensive for what one gets, but it is hand-made. I would settle for either an Aprilia or Ducati at a cheaper price, but still high quality. I like V-twins, but niether of these bikes will outperform my new 2011 ZX10. However, I can still appreciate them. They are real sportbikes....unlike the hardly davisin sportser, which is a big pile of rolling american junk!
+Gabriel Johannson Too bad MV dealers are far and few between. Their coverage map is even worse than Aprilia although not by much. The closest MV dealer to me is literally 3 hours away and I live in a mid atlantic major metropolitan area. Meanwhile I have 2 Duc dealerships less than 30 minutes away, a 3rd 45 minutes away and a 4th an hour away. Guess which of these finicky brands would end up getting my money?
soopa doopa Understand totally. I'm in Sydney Australia & I only have 1 MV dealer and that is a new one at that. I do read that MV has or is investing more in its dealerships in the USA. I'm surprised they have zero close to you. The US is more than just East Coast & West Coast. Finicky is a fair description but I'd like to think that with the support Ducati has received from Audi and the support MV Agusta has received from AMG Mercedes the quality issues or 'characteristic' idiosyncrasies of both marques would be greatly reduced these days. Respect & ride safe.
+Gabriel Johannson There is the east coast, the west coast and then flyover states. lol. I live in the land of the lobbyist and the home of the fat cat federal contractors. I shouldn't have to go so far for a premium marque, especially considering the amount of disposable wealth in this area. Meanwhile the MV dealerships are in little hick towns. Friggin amazing. Seriously though DC has a Napoleonic complex: it wants to be sophisticated like NYC or respected like LA and it is not. It is a small town with big city pretentions. And not a single motorcycle dealership within its borders. To find a MV dealership you have to go down near Norfolk, VA (not exactly a cosmopolitan area) or up to the aforementioned hick towns in Pennsylvania.
soopa doopa Wow no dealership in DC? That is mental. Interesting report on what DC is like. I lived in the USA for a little over 2 years based outta NYC but never made it to DC. From what I always heard it was pitched as being very cosmopolitan but if you don't go you don't see the truth. Thanks for shining the light on what its like in reality. Hope you make it down to Norfolk to check out the MVs and maybe even purchase one. If you do put a vid upon youtube. Respect.
+Gabriel Johannson I grew up in NYC so I know it well. DC is changing which brings the good as well as the bad. But I can think only 2 car dealerships in DC proper out on Wisconsin Avenue: one that specializes in older restored cars and a VW dealer. That is it. You have to go to Maryland or Virginia for anything else. And as I stated earlier no motorcycle dealerships.
And they are almost like the only ones in the world to speak about the streetfighter 1098/s in a positive way. Everybody says that the street trelly doesn't really work like it should. For a fast bike to be easy and intuitive is a pro, not a fault.
Vergonha dessa Copa do Mundo 2014!!! Vergonha de ter um povo miserável em favelas com condições sub humanas, vergonha de não ter educação, hospitais; vergonha de viver em um país que morre mais gente por dia do que em uma guerra mundial.#vergonhadeserbrasileiro
The New Brutale looks as if the Ducati streetfighter and Ducati monster had a kid. I'd imagin if your n the fine about wich duc to buy of those 2 then the MV should be a good choice.
By watching this I have learned two things. You can't do a proper review of high powered naked bikes from riding them in the city. And obviously there are no dentist in the U K?
I love the brutale....she is the reason i made my driving license. :-D !!!!!!everyday i am counting my money!!!!!! BUT, the rear mirrors are ugly as hell...
ma che cavolo di prova è questa? due inglesi che vengono a bologna a provare due moto italiane 2 candele bla bla bla.......2grandi moto e 2 tester decisamenti inetti!!
man this dood really needs to catch up on his sleep... he looks like he hasnt slept for days in almost all of the vids hes in... i thought i had it bad

The quality of the video is so much better than previous stuff. Well done MCN!

Mv Agusta , just pure beauty and a adrenalin maker !!
Yay for whomever this Ian Jubb is - he's doing a fantastic job on the new style video's - keep it up! They're a joy to watch!
I haven't sat on or rode the MV, but i totally love my Streetfighter S and wouldn't swap it for anything except maybe a Desmosedici RR. It is also easy to ride everyday so i disagree with the testers on what they think.
Good work on another great quality video! Both content and production wise... Keep it up! Would like to see more of this!
better cams and new editing software=better end content, well done guys,it is now a joy to watch...
Great quality video and finally no wind noise.
mcn is 1000% better now, then they were just one year ago.
TY
Streetfighter hands down.. It's just such a badass bike
It's always fun to watch your video reviews - I just wish you guys made more! :) Keep it up...
great vid! hopefully fast lane daily will take a leave out of mcn's book and start producing videos of this quality. cheers guys.
Had both and loved both. Like he said, the MV is more user friendly. On a day to day basis, I take the Brutale. The Ducati is hard to ride and doesn't feel as safe on roads. a good review, it actually told me something about the bikes.
Both these manufacturers make beautiful machines.
Oh, and... good video, professional hand at work
great camera quality! Keep up the good work! I'd go with the Duc myself
finally, a good quality video
and, oh, yeah... gorgeous bikes...
very awesome video clear quality!
MCN popping wheelies = awesome ;-)
Both are equal in my books, I want them both!
Having a 2008 gsxr 750 and having ridden that for my first bike I would have to choose the MV as my next bike. Do you review Bike Jackets. If yes, then which one would you recommend. I need all seasons. Would be a great help if you answer.
I Like the streetfighter better, i think is better looking by far, but they are both gorgeus bike
holy shit, they both look fucking amazing!!!! im in love, but if i would have to choose, i would take ducati! but damn, 2 beautys
Do you feel like on a Superbike on the streetfighter? Like more bent over and tense when driving slow or relaxed and upright?
@ephesus All very true. Only one thing tho. that mv brutale is so beautiful ...

Does Ducati still use the desmodromic valve system?
wow hd like video, thanks mcn

I never realized how high+backswept the pegs were on both bikes...
A buddy of mine has a Brutale', and it is a very nice bike. Quite expensive for what one gets, but it is hand-made. whats the tune?
Ducati =))) Only thing I don't like is the license plate holding thingy
id have rather a longer review and more detail about the bikes traits still though .. had a decent opinion in it
Love My monster 99 big valve, a few nice mods, c fiber. c gravity perfect.
The streetfighter NO QUESTION.
MV sounds like the winner, it has everything but the uncomfortable riding position of the Ducati. however both are sexy!
you might find that they are probably lined with Kevlar dude. a lot of riding jeans are like that nowadays. i got a couple of pairs.
MV is what Ducati dreams to be. For a street bike the 1090 seems (by this review) is more user friendly day to day.

i want the ducati :D if there is a job opening, please let me know MCN!!!
2020 anyone?
which one would you guys choose?
I don't think this one was a cop out they clearly told you what to expect from two very different machines.
Live the ducatis aparence, but the exhaust sound its orrible.
i'd like the streetfighter more even before this video, BUT after they say the mv rides almost like japanese, i like the ducati even more!!
And they are almost like the only ones in the world to speak about the streetfighter 1098/s in a positive way. Everybody says that the street trelly doesn't really work like it should. For a fast bike to be easy and intuitive is a pro, not a fault.
anyone know the fuel economy?
@YSBCITTAR right choice sir, right choice

@WisdomVendor good question. well: their motoGP10 does... so i GUESS: yes

And obviously there are no dentist in the U K?
ducati streetfighter S has a better feel thats what i think
Ducati & MV ______Italian Style______
I love MV
ill take the brutale with a aftermarket exaust, clutch and headlight.
@MercsDude hahaha that's the spirit!
Why not?
I love the brutale....she is the reason i made my driving license. :-D

MV BRUTAL
ma che cavolo di prova è questa? due inglesi che vengono a bologna a provare due moto italiane 2 candele bla bla bla.......2grandi moto e 2 tester decisamenti inetti!!
Okay, sounds valid. But how did you randomly end up commenting this on a video about bikes?
just download adblocker
MVA for me - and the 23 litre tank helps....
@gijsoerlemans1992
Plus the Ducati sounds more 'brutal', the irony.
street fighter by far...
It is hard to take this review seriously. The accents are so exaggerated i think i would rather they were cartoon characters.
1:21 i buy me the scooter xD
man this dood really needs to catch up on his sleep... he looks like he hasnt slept for days in almost all of the vids hes in... i thought i had it bad
please take of your green hat..
MV is not really my taste. Streetfighter looks much better to me.
in accelerazione la brutale è assurda nn riesci a tenere l'anteriore a terra, la ducati è piu dolce in erogazione
I vote ducati streetfighter
Ducati is so much nicer!
gli italci gioielli ;)
ITALIAN JOB :)
Lucky motojournalist bastards. Wish I could get paid to flog around on those two bikes for a day.
ALL ducatis are desmodromic
Ducati is quite ugly
...cause they're Toyota's poser-copycat-slow version of the German cars they want to emulate.
It's a motorcycle video. These bikes walk 99% of cars
