I'm late to the party ;-) However, just very glad I read the comments before starting this square. Used 5mm hook, front/back post double crochet rather than triple, and 6 rows to start and 6 rows to end rather than 8. Came out just maybe half inch larger than 10 inches. Certainly doable. I relied heavily on stitch markers and counting stitches. Thank you for such clear instructions and close up camera work. Nicely done! It took a while to find the written instructions to complete the square, but I did eventually find it on Lakeside Loops blog.
So...this is a great square but I had the same issues as others. It works up too big compared to the other squares. So I redid it with a few changes. 1. I used a smaller hook 5 mm. 2. I only made 6 rows of half double crochets at the beginning and end of the square instead of 8. 3. I changed all of the front/back triple crochets to doubles. These changes resulted in the square being smaller (though still bigger than others) and the heart looks soooooo much more defined. Hope this helps.
I just wanted to thank you for this comment! I saw everyone saying it came out too big and wanted to see for myself first, and it was def 1" too big. I used your tip of using a 5 hook and only 6 rows of hdc, but I regretted not following the dc instead of tc, I had to go back and unravel the whole heart when I saw the sizing and spacing didnt match up with triples, and redid it all in doubles. Finished square was the perfect size!
I love this pattern but could you do a video of this up through the completion, especially of the heart. I’m having a hard time figuring this out. Please!!!!
Thanks for the easy to follow tutorial! This is very cute and I want to include it in my own Traveling Afgan. I will just have to figure how to resize it so it fits. This turns out larger than the other patterns for the Traveling Afgan.
Hello! Thank you for the square, this pattern is lovely. However mine turned out much larger than anticipated.... any idea what caused it to be about 1" larger in length and width? Also what method did you use to join to the other squares?
Could this be done with adding another color for the heart? I can only watch videos, I can not read the patterns. I mess up so bad. Please help, I wish you could do the whole video on the beaid heart or I forget what it was called. I tried to do the pattern and no, bad
I am sure that I am making an error somewhere but I am confused: if we have 31 stitches and in row 9 we chain 2 and then do 15 Hdss, then 1 treble - we will have 14 stitches remaining. First, it will make the Heart design move to one side and in row 10, to reach the center, minus a stich to do 3 trebles, we would have 13 stitches, not 14. Can't figure out what I am missing...
I'm so glad you reached out! If you head to my blog post there's a chart at the bottom of the page that may help as an extra visual (www.lakesideloops.com/travelingafghan/) . . Yes, 31 stitches is right but your chain 2 doesn't count as a stitch . . so you should have 15 hdc, 1 treble, then 15 more hdc. I hope that helps! If you're still unsure please don't hesitate to write again!
I have done this square twice and both times it ends up being 11.5 inches square, not 10 inches. I have made 5 of the other patterns in the program which all end up at 10 inches. I used the correct yarn and hook size and diligently counted stitches. Has anyone else experienced this?
I'm so sorry! Can I ask what's going wrong? Maybe I can help via messages. The heart does look misshapen (like it's going to be too tall) until you add more of the regular rows.
I got it yay 😁 I stayed up till I got it 🥰 but my square it to long I think at the heart I need to crochet tighter maybe or drop a hook ! I’m blocking it right now to see if I can scrunch it up lol

Very pretty. Lovely pattern made from simple easy to follow instruction. The written instruction is easy to read. And your video tutorial is amazing.
Thank you so much. What a kind comment. I really appreciate you taking the time to write that! :)
Thank you for making this in a video for those who can not read patterns like me!
My pleasure! I hope you find it helpful!

I am having the same problems 😪
cookbake2 I am having the same problem! Did you figure it out?

🥰🥰🥰😘❤️👏🌹
Thank you! :)
I’m having trouble at the top of the heart ❤️ I came back to watch the rest of the tutorial and it’s over already 😪
I'm so sorry! Can I ask what's going wrong? Maybe I can help via messages. The heart does look misshapen (like it's going to be too tall) until you add more of the regular rows.

I would show you if I can figure that out just a sec
Lakeside loops my square is way longer than the other ones in the traveling aphgan ! Do you know why?
It’s an easy tutorial but I would’ve liked it if you showed how to actually finish the heart instead of 10 min of doing hdc.
Would have been nicer for is begging ers to compete rhe video rather rang written pattern
