Rainbow Mermaid

So I'm a little late for Pride Month, I really wanted to create a nice rainbow piece (even had it all thought out in my mind) but I've had a bad hip and haven't been able to stand for long enough. The I remembered this which I did last year for a Mermaid collaboration that never eventuated, so here is my Rainbow Mermaid.

In the video I show how I made the acrylic skin for the mermaid tail as well as the water splash embellishments, and obviously the swiped background.
I used heaps of This Little Piggy pigments in both the acrylic skin and for the ocean.
My round canvas is 20'' (50cm)
Pillow:
British Paints (brand name) house paint, low sheen white with nothing added.
Colours:
Acrylic Skin:
TLP Honeycomb
TLP Deja Vu
TLP Glisten
TLP Mermaid
SUP's & TLP pigments, Tri-Art Acrylics, Amsterdam Acrylics (in some regions), silicone stir sticks and silicone pour mats can be purchased from fluid-art.co/
Matisse Southern Ocean Blue
Pebeo Iridescent Precious Gold
Amsterdam Red Violet
Cell Activators (CA's):
Atelier Rich Gold
Atelier Pearl Grey
They were both mixed ONLY with Australian Floetrol (approx 2 - 2.5 parts to 1 part of acrylic paint).
Colours:
#tlp Mermaid
TLP Waterfall
TLP Sequins
TLP Blue Eyes
SUP's & TLP pigments, Tri-Art Acrylics, Amsterdam Acrylics (in some regions), silicone stir sticks and silicone pour mats can be purchased from fluid-art.co/
Liquitex Iridescent White (swiped as my background first) and also used in my ocean swipe
Golden Cobalt Teal mixed with Matisse Aqua Green Light (equal parts)
Amsterdam Greenish Blue
My pigments and tube paints are mixed with untinted (neutral) gloss house paint (water based) and Jo Sonja gloss varnish. In some countries you may need 'Deep Base' you're looking for one without any (or a very small amount) of titanium white, or it will make your colours pastel.

Atelier Titanium White with a small blob of Atelier Tinting Pearl Titanium White
This was mixed ONLY with Australian Floetrol (approx 2 - 2.5 parts to 1 part of acrylic paint).

I just used normal scissors to cut my mermaid tail out of the acrylic skin. The skin was just poured onto a silicone pour mat from www.fluid-art.co I leave it on there until it's thoroughly dried/cured (approx 2 - 3 weeks)

My lazy susan is glass and 20'' which was purchased from Coles supermarket, they can also be sourced from variety/dollar stores and on Amazon. The heavier the spinner, the easier it will spin, I'd also suggest you get the largest one you can so you can easily use it for larger substrates too. I have a 24'' (60cm) wood round placed on top of my lazy susan.
My metal spatulas are artist palette knives, they can all be purchased from fluid-art.co/
