Hello Helen and Dave, really enjoyed the tour around the 2 caravans. I think I liked the Adria van the best. Really informative, take care x Julie and Tony x
Hello Julie & Tony, some lovely caravans to look at and although we’re not buying ourselves we do enjoy getting up close with these little beauties. Might be looking at Motorhomes soon too. Take care, Helen & Dave 👍
Thanks for sharing both, what lovely modern caravans I’ve always liked the Adria caravans, I’ve never owned one but would certainly be in the line up for when we change our existing caravan. Thanks again both, and all the best Tris and Nikki 😀😀
Thank you Dave and Helen! Your amazing video helped us to finally make up our minds as we’ve been toying over ordering a new van for a while, but we just can’t make up our minds on which manufacturer. This is our first purchase but quite keen on buying one to last us at least 10 years. Bingo! You inspired us and now we’ve just put a deposit down on an Adria Colerado. I fell in love with the Rio Grande but I think I’m too nosey and need that big front window! Can’t wait to get on the road. Will buy you a Ghost Ship and Malibu should we ever bump into you! Thank you for the fab content - love watching you and Helen on your travels! 🍺🍹
Hi Dave and Helen, fantastic tour of the adria vans, during lockdown I tried to convince my partner about caravaning, she wasn't that keen but I spotted an adria adora isonzo for sale and persuaded her to have a look. She loved it as soon as she went inside. We swapped last year to a newer elddis crusader super cyclone but still look back on the adria with affection. They are really well made.
Thanks for watching Ron, this was the first time we had gotten up close to the Adrian and we really liked what we saw, great vans. Hope you're enjoying the Crusader though, also a lovely caravan. Best wishes, Helen & Dave
Hi Dave and Helen, Thank you for making us welcome when we called in for a sticker today. Really love the channel. Keep up the good work. Gary and Tracie from Reading.
Hi Gary & Tracie, great to see you both and thanks for dropping by. Please put those stickers somewhere prominent on the Range Rover or Caravan (preferably both lol). Thanks for supporting our channel and we hope you enjoy the rest of your stay. Safe travels, Helen & Dave
Hello again, we really liked the Rio Grande too but we would have to buy a new tow car to pull it. Great to window shop and get ideas though. Take care, Helen & Dave
Great review, my hubby wanted a caravan and I didn’t. We went to look around the caravan showroom and the Adria Adora Isonzo won me. This is our first caravan and I love the space. We have put it on a season pitch so we don’t have to move it as it’s big.
Thanks for the comprehensive tour Dave & Helen 👍. Adria caravans are well built and robust. Looking at their website, they don’t seem to do the popular 2 berth with end washroom and separate shower cubicle which is a shame. Thanks again and take care, Rob & Gail 😀
Hi Rob & Gail, very interesting to get close to the Adria caravans and albeit a swift (pardon the pun) visit to Downtide we will be returning there soon to investigate further. The vans are big & strong but also heavy so we will be looking to see what else is included in their range, particularly smaller & lighter. Thanks for watching, Helen & Dave 👍
Hi Dave and Helen, did the first van have power points in the bedside nock, I really really like the layout on the Rio Grande, and I spotted plug sockets either side of the bed, wow Adria are ahead of the market in many ways by the looks of it, all the best, and safe travels Neil
Wow great reviews and what lovely caravans they are, interestingly the first caravan is exactly the same layout as my 2007 Fleetwood vanlander with prop up beds and central bathroom Adria bought Fleetwood out in 2009-10 and have carried over some of the Fleetwoods layout but hey that front kitchen looks good well done guys
Hi Martin, hope you're doing well. Interesting reference to the Fleetwood, didn't realise Adria bought them out. The front kitchen in the Rio Grande was really good, loved the layout. Best wishes, Helen & Dave
I have a 2021 adora tiber. Keep an eye at the back underneath the ply floor, which goes rotten where the rain water gets trapped. Bad design fault .But part from that it tows great 👍
Hi William, thanks for sharing and we’re really sorry to hear this. That’s really not good at all, is it a common fault on this model and has this been fixed under warranty? Thanks again, Helen & Dave
@HelenandDave Hi, most caravans have this problem, to be honest. I am a caravan technician, and I have to repair quite a lot unless it's the new ones with the plastic covering. I just keep on top of mine by painting it underneath once a year to stop it getting worse. After all, they are caravans that are out in all weather's .Bill
Hi Robert, lucky you! Yes we like very much and based on our short time at Downtide Caravans looking at the Adrias, we were very impressed indeed. Thanks for watching and all the best, Helen & Dave
Hi Dave, another great video. We looked at Adrias and thought they were all beautifully built. However the lengths o/an including the abnormally long A frames made them just a little too long for our driveway. I also note that some sites stipulate 8 mts as a maximum but I’m never quite sure if this means shipping lengths or just the van body? The Rio Grande looks fabulous but I’m surprised to see 2000kg running on a single axle. 1 tonne per wheel - wow! Good to see Helen out and about but she’s obviously still struggling with her shoulder. Hope this improves for her soon.
Hi Michael, big caravans for sure, very nice though. I would think the 8m length would be for the caravan, possibly to keep big RV’s & 5th wheels off site. Thanks as always, Helen & Dave
Hello Helen and Davetastic, thanks for the mention at the beginning of episode, As I may have said earlier we had Lunar then Bailey then Swift, the Adria has been the best mainly in regards to build quality i.e. no trim falling off, but we love Siene especially with the Lithium battery conversion so no need for hook up anymore with over 500watts of solar power on the roof. The entertainment is via the Adria media centre you missed it in the Tiber plus the speakers are all hidden which is so cool you did miss one when you opened the flap under the fridge have a look at the recording. Yes the size is great we had Swift Bolero motorhome before but was to cramped and too many steps inside for Jackie who is disabled when we saw inside Siene we knew straight away it was for us and now Jackie can roam around without the fear of any steps tripping her up. As for contemporary it is like the Ikea of caravanning but you can tailor to your desires quite easily. Good luck and keep putting out the show.
Hi Paul & Jackie, really pleased you prompted us to look at these vans, they are great! Yes, spotted later the media centre controller, neat and it feels much better than an old fashioned car radio! Can imagine how Jackie enjoys so much more space and it really felt like being in a hotel bedroom. Thanks for watching and best wishes to you both, Helen & Dave
Helen & Dave great video it has opened my eyes to the quality of the Adria vans. I wonder how long it will be before the other manufacturers copy the front kitchen layout. Really liked it. Take care Ian
Hi Helen and Dave, we are on our third Adria, the first was an Adora Thames, really loved it, lots of storage, handy when you are married to a centipede, - all those shoes have to go somewhere. Got smitten by a Colorado, that turned into an expensive mistake as the single bed layout turned out not to be for us. So now have the Mississippi, love it, the underfloor heating is superb for winter trips. Have added aircon, E and P, solar panel now fitted - and am about to add 5g wifi - another hole in the roof anytime soon for the antenna. As for no radio, we use Alexa over wifi and the Adria Bluetooth is great, speakers where you would not expect them, but great surround sound. Did enquire about a deal on the Rio Grande, ( ‘er indoors hankering after one ), thankfully could not justify the cost to change. That “ lovely little lamp” has turned out to be a disaster however, it burned out, discovered it in the nick of time, though it has damaged electrical systems, lucky not to have lost the caravan, otherwise, build quality is way above UK maker offerings, just they are not to everyone’s taste. Great review and not surprised you both were impressed.
Hi Mel, when we said we know people who have Adrias it was you I was thinking of. I remember thinking what a big caravan it was and spotted your aircon. Genuinely impressed with what we saw, shame about the lamp though. A warm welcome from everyone at Downtide too. Agree, the quality looked very good. Hope your centipede is well. Catch you soon, Helen & Dave
We want an Adria but would have upgrade the car and then find the funds - we went to Downtide in July when we stayed just down the road at the very lovely Deers Mead site. Adria are well built, good and solid although not to everyone's taste - but we would have one in a heartbeat! Steve n Jeanette
Hi Steve & Jeanette, likewise, we're not in the market but if we were buying again I would certainly be short listing the Adria Rio Grande. Thanks for watching and we hope you're well. Cheers, Helen & Dave
All the lights in an Adria move, you can pick them up and move them to where you want them. The spot lights on the ceiling unclip and can be moved to another part of the van. It’s all very clever.
Yes realised this later, very high tech as far as caravans are concerned. Most caravans are very similar, these however seem much more modern. Cheers, Helen & Dave
Glad you liked them (I also tipped you off but not bitter about not getting a mention 😂😂😂). Think Paul has said about the media centre. It’s brilliant. Sounds great and I still have no idea where the speakers are! We are just in night number 2 of our Tiber in North Wales (nod to Morris Leisure sites btw, great sites). We also got a mega discount off the RRP too on a 2024 model (almost felt like we were stealing it!). But they are big, was pretty nervy to be honest. Think I’ll go on a course to build my confidence. Anyway, glad you liked them, I think they are great and so pleased we managed to get our new home from home!
Feel bad now Mike, sorry mate. Sussed the media centre after we filmed this, pretty nifty and much better than an old car stereo. Heard great things about Morris Leisure, we must get to one soon. The Tiber is a lovely van (they all are) but seem so big and well built. Enjoy your time away, thanks for watching. Helen & Dave
@@paulhill4457 our tv doesn’t do Bluetooth out sadly, but as we’ve got two tv brackets then we clearly need to buy another so will sure that is on the spec list! Thank you!
Hiya Sue, oh that's interesting, thanks for pointing that out. It really was a spacious, well equipped van and we thought it was good value too. Thanks for watching, Helen & Dave
Hi Helen and Dave a great video and have always admired Adria vans and also burstner and they have such great design touches and things which just make sense and backed up with the German build quality I agree with Helen the interiors need a bit of colour to brighten them but they do look lovely and modern Was there enough to tempt you? 😂 😂 All the best to you both Daniel
Hi Daniel, spot on! lovely caravans and they seem really well built but they are quite plain, but you can add your own splashes of colour though. Not quite tempted, would need a new tow car too lol. Best wishes as always, Helen & Dave
Yeah, we love our van too, never let us down and does everything we need it to do but the extra comfort in the Adria was noticeable. Take care, Helen & Dave
I’m sitting in my Rio grande in Whitby goth weekend..The gas goes in the front not the side that’s a big locker. The water connection you saw is city water just plug in mains pressure an it reduces it for you.The underfloor heating is lovely you just saw the pipes in the bottom kitchen cupboard you opened. Were you said L shaped seats mine has got a U shape so you got 2 nice lounge seats. Ha ha you’re right about the bathroom window I’ve put a smoke film on it perfect.Yes the bed is nice you can sit up but you do need a fitted sheet to go over both head parts so you can have one up an one down.Yes my one gripe is the bathroom mirror nice storage behind it but comes out to far .The Bluetooth sound system is lovely speakers all over the caravan .
Mike you're very lucky! 1. to be in Whitby for goth weekend, bet the atmosphere is great for Halloween, We were there a couple of years ago for Goth weekend in the summer, it was amazing. 2. because you own a a Rio Grande, what a fabulous caravan, just like being in a hotel on wheels. Thanks for pointing out the locker, bet the underfloor heating is great, especially in these cooler months. Enjoy your weekend and thanks for watching. Helen & Dave
Thanks for your reply…I like watching your guys videos all round entertaining.Yes Whitby is lovely anytime..but we are starting to see the goth theme come alive now looks like it’s going to be a good weekend.Take care the both of you an keep bringing us the videos..
I really like Adria's contemporary interior design. I'm looking at the Adria Altea 402PH which is a far smaller caravan than the ones you looked at here. Nevertheless, much of what is seen here is also present, with a layout that is similar to that of the Rio Grande in terms of the entrance leading directly into the kitchen, which is along the rear, rather than the front in that very splendid Rio Grande. It is a bit of a toss-up between the Swift Alpine 2 and the aforementioned Altea. There is also the Hobby 400SFe Deluxe which would be my third choice and very similar in layout to the Adria Altea.
Hello Andrew, good to hear from you again and we hope you’re well. Genuinely, we were taken aback by the Adrias. We had never been in one before and they are well cons try from what we could see. Good luck with your purchase. Cheers, Helen & Dave
Hi helen and dave we saw the adria alpina last year on a visit to a local dealer i was gobsmacked with the layout, they are certainly different and in a good way, are you tempted to change yours yet lol?xx you and helen look well, take care as always xx
Hi Julie, they really are very nice but we would need to buy a new tow car too so we will be keeping what we have. Nice to window shop and get ideas though. Thanks for your lovely comment. Cheers, Helen & Dave 😊👍
Hi Dot, I think that’s the maximum permitted length of a single axle touring caravan in the UK. It seems really big, reckon 8ft wide makes it seem so much bigger. Lovely caravan. Hope you’re well and thanks for watching. Helen & Dave
Somewhere we have never been to but must say we do like the look of this wonderful place. No plans at the moment but one day we would like to. Thanks for watching. Helen & Dave
We are not too familiar either but people we know that have them absolutely rave about the build quality and reliability. Thanks for watching, Helen & Dave
Some interesting features, but I'm not keen on the kitchen - no electric hob. And why oh why do manufacturers continue to place the microwave directly over the hob, with the inherent danger of reaching above maked flames etc ? Thanks Dave.
Hi Graham, missus has steps to reach it, (5ft 2”) and TBH with the hobs at the back half of the workspace, it is not much of an issue, just take suitable care. We have a portable induction hob which gets used more than gas, use it either inside or in the awning/canopy and so use EHU power, as we do with the air fryer etc. Even metered electric works out cheaper I reckon. Just a case of balancing usage to avoid tripping out the breaker.
Hi Ray, great question and I did ask exactly that and the owners at Downtide told me they have orders coming out of their ears and have taken more staff on recently. Good to hear 👍
Hi Tristan & Katie, funnily enough an Adria owner just described it as an Ikea caravan but he really likes his. I think we liked the inside more than the outside but thankfully we are all different. Great to have choices, hope you're both well and thanks for watching. Helen & Dave
Hi Rob, yes they were there, we didn't highlight them but where the free standing microwave was, there were sockets there. Nice vans, thanks for watching. Helen & Dave
Not for me first one is a bit boring the second van with the front kitchen no i like to park up sit with a beer and watch out over the site them side widows give you a lovely view of a hedgerow or the awning of your neighbour. the last one my wife will miss me too much with single beds.
Fair enough Neil!, great to have a choice but you don't want to be upsetting the wife with single beds lol. Thanks as always, hope you're well. Cheers Helen & Dave
Hi Barry, be careful, If Helen has the credit card I know it's going to cost me dear! Great caravans, really impressed with the Adrias. Thanks for watching, Helen & Dave
Hi Mike, we have the Alpina Mississippi, missus would like a Rio Grande, ours is only 2 1/2 years old, could not get a deal earlier this year, I am happy with what we have, especially as we have spent out on a lot of extra kit which annoyingly “ does not add to trade in price, just makes it easier to sell on “. Will be our last van ( said that before….) so will enjoy it to the max.
A caravan's nose weight is determined by the manufacturer of the caravan, the towbar, and the car: Caravan chassis manufacturer: The maximum nose weight and the maximum load the coupling can carry are stamped on the coupling. Towbar manufacturer: The maximum nose weight is on the towbar plate. Car manufacturer: The maximum allowed nose weight is listed on the car's VIN plate and the towbar's nameplate but as a rule of thumb he ideal noseweight is 5-7% of the caravan's fully loaded weight (MTPLM). Cheers, Helen & Dave
Max allowable nose weight is stated as 100kg, although the chassis is stamped 120kg. In practice, it is actually not too easy to get really close to 100kg. Our single axle is at 97kg after a bit of moving stuff around.
Thanks very much for watching, yes, a bit like marmite maybe but they are certainly different. Interesting to have a look around and also interesting to get individual views, which we respect. Thanks again for sharing yours, best wishes, Helen & Dave
@@HelenandDave I especially like the front locker and attention too detail in it and, as far as I am aware, they are fitted with Alko Delta axles. Delta axles give better handling and smoother ride. I experienced one towing an ABI Award , as they too fitted them. However, I tow a Swift Conqueror 480 2023 with the Euro axle and find it tows extremely well too!? At the storage compound where I keep my caravan, I can see on top of lots of other vans and Adria look very well finished from ground level but the trim that runs across the top length of each side has lots of screw heads visible holding the trims on and exposed to the weather - not so impressive.
@ thanks for sharing Trevor, always good to get others views & opinions, it all helps to make an informed choice. We like the Swift caravans our own Sterling Eccles is essentially a Swift and it’s not let us down in any way which is why we choose to keep hold of it.
Goth weekend in Whitby sounds fab and let’s face it - it’s probably been drier weather end of October than we’ve had all summer ! Enjoy ❤
Thanks for your reply…I like watching your guys videos all round entertaining.Yes Whitby is lovely anytime..but we are starting to see the goth theme come alive now looks like it’s going to be a good weekend.Take care the both of you an keep bringing us the videos..
@@Mike-ip8hg thanks a lot Mike, we appreciate it 👍
@@Bessie66 it’s brilliant, great atmosphere 👍
We have an Adria - it’s the best caravan
Hi Dodie, you’re very lucky, really nice caravans. Thanks for watching. Helen & Dave
We actually saw an Adria in Australia today although it's not the first one we have seen out here.
Interesting Dot, they are made in Slovenia and the Adria name comes from The Adriatic. I like the Aussie off road caravans. 👍
my home batgrooms had clear windows so i just used window film ......would work well for caravan bathroom windows
Great tip and as you say it would work perfectly 👍 Cheers, Helen & Dave 👍
When you've seen the 'top of the range' it's very hard to want a base model :D
So true but it least you can get some simple upgrade ideas but must say, we really liked the Adria vans. Hope you're well. Best wishes, Helen & Dave
We can't believe that a 27' caravan is only a single axle!
Hi Dot, I think that’s the maximum permitted length of a single axle touring caravan in the UK. It seems really big, reckon 8ft wide makes it seem so much bigger. Lovely caravan. Hope you’re well and thanks for watching. Helen & Dave
Any plans of coming to Ireland
Somewhere we have never been to but must say we do like the look of this wonderful place. No plans at the moment but one day we would like to. Thanks for watching. Helen & Dave
im not sure if i like it or nt,whther thats to do with not knowing much about them. What are they like for reliability, damp etc?
Hi Graham, agree microwaves over the hob is not that smart. Thanks as always for watching, take care, Helen & Dave 👍
Are they selling. With market at moment?
Hi Ray, great question and I did ask exactly that and the owners at Downtide told me they have orders coming out of their ears and have taken more staff on recently. Good to hear 👍
@@HelenandDave good news. 👍
Rio Grande did look different. Not conventional layout. Interesting
We got quite a surprise TBH, really liked it. Thanks for watching, Helen & Dave
I love an Adria from the outside, not so keen on the inside. If IKEA built caravans…
Hi Tristan & Katie, funnily enough an Adria owner just described it as an Ikea caravan but he really likes his. I think we liked the inside more than the outside but thankfully we are all different. Great to have choices, hope you're both well and thanks for watching. Helen & Dave
I didn't see any power sockets for a kettle or toaster.
The wallet is safe and locked away but where is the missus and the credit card mmmmmm such thoughts on all of them
Hi Barry, be careful, If Helen has the credit card I know it's going to cost me dear! Great caravans, really impressed with the Adrias. Thanks for watching, Helen & Dave
Have you got the Rio grande
Hi Mike, we have the Alpina Mississippi, missus would like a Rio Grande, ours is only 2 1/2 years old, could not get a deal earlier this year, I am happy with what we have, especially as we have spent out on a lot of extra kit which annoyingly “ does not add to trade in price, just makes it easier to sell on “. Will be our last van ( said that before….) so will enjoy it to the max.
@@mellarner8253 you’ve got a nice van Mel, no need to change it 👍
Agree with Helen, I find Adria a bit bland
Yeah, see where you're coming from, I quite liked it but Helen felt it needed a little more. Take carte, Helen & Dave
GOOD BUT WHEY TOO HEAVY
Hi Margaret, they are heavy vans you would need a good sized tow car too but lovely vans. Thanks for watching. Helen & Dave
What would the nose weight be.
A caravan's nose weight is determined by the manufacturer of the caravan, the towbar, and the car:
Caravan chassis manufacturer: The maximum nose weight and the maximum load the coupling can carry are stamped on the coupling.
There’s much to admire but I find them ugly outside and too Ikea inside and too heavy.
Might do a few upgrades through the winter just to keep it up to date. Thanks for watching. Helen & Dave 👍
