As a trans woman, I def see where Theo is coming from with the role of the company amid the backlash. For her own mental health, I am not sure if Dylan should have taken the gig; however, she's no stranger to being the right's trans scapegoat, so maybe she was ready for it. I think what gets lost in all of this, especially for straight people, is that Bud Light has been making LGBT targeted ads for YEARS and is one of the most popular beers at gay bars all across the US. In a business sense, this is a perfect storm for them. All they have to do is sit by as crazy right wingers and transphobes literally destroy product they already payed for themselves, and then all of the normal people will either continue buying it as normal and/or start buying it again when people stop talking about it in two weeks. They benefit from the huge amount of exposure, and most of the backlash will fall in Dylan herself. There are also a wide variety of alcohol companies that make lgbt ads, Jack Daniels, Absolut Vodka, and Smirnoff are big ones just to name a few. I think this is just one of the many times the right tries to virtue signal their outrage over LGBT issues, so they can seem righter than thou. Also just to respond to the puberty blockers thing. I understand the hesitancy where Theo is coming from. If you're not exposed to trans people, hearing that some adolescents can be prescribed medication for trans issues can be quite a scary thought. But I ask you to dig a little deeper and see past the sensationalized rhetoric surrounding this issue. No, a young kid or teen cannot go to a doctor's office and get hormones after one conversation with a doctor. There are a wide variety of steps that one must take before they can even be considered for them as well, usually this involves a year at least of therapy, a signed letter from said therapist, and at least 6 months to a year of social transition. When I started hormones in liberal NJ, I was required by my doctor to have socially transitioned for a year and get that doctors note that I talked about before that social transition is usually the first thing that a potentially trans kid is told to explore. Try out a new name, present your clothes in a different way, etc.. After all of that a decision is then made between the child, their parents, and a physician/endocrinologist. Like all medical decisions, it should be up to the patient, their parents if they are a minor, and medical professionals - NOT THE GOVERNMENT. The science is there if you're operating in good faith and it costs nothing to treat trans people with respect and dignity, especially in the climate that we live in now.
Gays are not the same as trans lol, don't lump something natural with something requiring medical intervention. Gays, Bi and lesbians should be lumped in with straight people tbh Should iust be TQ+ HAHAHA

Stavros is right about the non-binary thing. I have so many friends who are non-binary in that they don't feel like either gender, but they also don't plan on getting surgery. The amount of people actually transitioning is still less than 2%.

Tobias has the right of it. Everyone is influenced by propaganda, even when you're very well armed against it. (Advertising having been born out of the propaganda industry, especially as pioneered by Bernays, Freud's nephew.) Advertising works on everyone. Look at the clothes you're wearing, the things you buy, what you want without questioning. I have yet to meet a person who is immune.
@@dogchaser520 No, it actually doesn't. Lying can work on everyone, gaslighting can work on everyone but the truth. The truth can't be propaganda because the truth will have facts to support it. Unfortunately everything now is based on feeling. The fact is they lost 4 billion dollars but feel it's a good idea to keep going. Thats propaganda. There is a major difference between the truth and propaganda. It's simply based on facts. Thats why all of it fell apart. Even the master at it, Hitler eventually paid the ultimate price. The truth will always prevail. Unfortunately, most people aren't very fucking bright. Just look at the Balenciaga collection. People following trends to look homeless. Advertising and propaganda are similar but propaganda has a nefarious agenda. If you can convince people to spend $500 on a paper clip(Prada) you can convince an idiot to do anything. Unfortunately most people are not that bright.
@Tobias Saibot you're right and it's literally everywhere. But an individual can choose to pay attention to it or not. 5 seconds after I hit "skip" on whatever ad played in this video I couldn't tell you what it was for. I buy beer from a local brewery that doesn't advertise because it's convenient and I like the taste.
@@dogchaser520 im largely immune. dont buy big name brand clothes. food i buy is almost all basic produce/meat. for stuff like condiments or whatever i usually try the no name brands and compare rather than pay a premium for no reason. cars ive owned are based on things like fuel efficiency and reviews i read rather than advertisements etc... some people are definitely more immune than others to being influenced by ads. maybe no one is 100% immune but i'd say unironically i'm 99% immune.
@@gaysfortrump2024 I'm pretty similar. In fact, advertisements create brand aversion for me because I dislike being manipulated. I actively avoid buying branded products and somewhat secretly despise people who wear branded clothing. It's a prejudice for sure, but I can't help but feel the deepest contempt mixed with pity at seeing someone not just advertise a product, but pay a premium for the privilege to do so. The vanity of buying a branded product so you're not "off-brand" is so deeply pathetic that inspires revulsion in anyone with a modicum of intelligence. Watching advertisements makes me feel physically ill, somewhat anxious, and occasionally furious. Nonetheless, that does still mean I'm being manipulated by the propaganda, but in the opposite intended direction most of the time. Still influence, though! You need serious training, diligence and critical thinking to try and separate yourself from that influence. As you say, you're still not perfectly immune. And at the very least, it affects others around you, which in turn affects your life through interaction with those people. They may provide certain subtle frames of reference that influence your thinking, propagating the mind-virus unconsciously, and you wouldn't even be aware it's happening. But fortunately, yes, we can train ourselves. Media literacy and propaganda resistance training should be taught to all children. This would also help avoid the "fake news" effect. Yes, of course all news is "fake" in that it's biased and has a motive. The funny thing with the "fake news" decriers is that they usually opt to get news from even more biased and propagandizing sources that lure them in through an addiction to outrage and smug superiority. Can't say I'm immune to that, either.
Here’s the cycle: -Company makes some kind of marketing campaign that is vaguely socially conscious maybe either out of genuine interest to spread that message and/or to appeal to a certain audience. -the audience it isn’t marketed to gets outraged and starts making a shitstorm over the Internet and on network outlets -People on the other side flock to defend said business and/or call out the backlash, and thus the business gains a bunch of attention, notoriety, and thus money. -Another company sees the fruitful opportunity of using social issues as marketing campaigns and thus the whole cycle starts over. I feel like this kind of branding and marketing wouldn’t be all that intriguing if these company’s knew there wouldn’t be some kind of polarizing effect. You’re going to lose a certain kind of customer, but you’re also going to gain the respect and loyalty of another customer.
I'm in marketing, and to be honest, this kind of strategy isn't really rational from a marketing perspective. Choosing Dylan as a face of the company isn't congruent or synegistic with the overall brand image. Also, trends show younger people are drinking less and less, so it doesn't make sense to specifically market to them (which is the primary demographic following Dylan) at the cost of alienating your main customers. Socially progressive marketing can be effective, but this type of brand is so far removed from the demographic that strategy appeals to that it doesn't work. It would be a good strategy for some kind of hipster-y IPA beer, but Bud Light is firmly positioned as a beer for male middle aged manual laborers and the like. In marketing, one of your main priorities should be customer retention and building long term relationships, as this is where the majority of your sales will come from. Alienating your core base by drastically altering the brand image just for the sake of getting some awareness on Twitter and the news doesn't make sense. Outrage can be effective in some circumstances to get into the news cycle, but you shouldn't outrage your customer base in ANY circumstance. An example of good outrage marketing would be Grand Theft Auto 5, which got into the news for its outlandish and provocative content, but this worked primarily because it caused ourage for middle-class, religious, surbuban mothers who are not the target audience, and it also helped reinforce the brand as this counter-culture kind of product which appealed to its target demographics. It's likely this strategy came from a desire to boost their CEI score. It doesn't make sense from any kind of logical marketing standpoint.

Imo the response to Bud Light by conservatives is trying to send the companies a message that any support or collaboration with a trans person is grounds for the utmost retaliation.

So i wish they werent trying to cram trans stuff down everyones throats and just let us live like normal ppl. So thank you for mentioning that. You kick ass
I think this is something that could fit here, but my counter argument is "pandering vs reprisentation". As a trans woman, I love it when I see a good story with a well written trans character that is authentic. I do not like to see "filler episode with guest character you'll never see again who is trans so we can fake caring and give half woke statements about loving yourself with no consequences to anything aren't we great". People judged trans people before they had as much time in the spotlight. And that judgement was rarely pne of peace, love, acceptance or tolerance even. Representation, good representation, does wonders. Capitalising on a group of people you don't understand so you can say a lot of things while saying nothing, does not help. The whole "shoving down throats" thing is bullshit and was enough for me to suspect you are lying, but I'd rather treat a liar sincerely than an honest man as a fool. Isn't the lack of trans people in media forcing cis shit down our throats? Everything is political until it's accepted and normal. This argument rings empty.
@@skyistaken1605 idk, from my perspective i see weird little things that seem like the representation is forceful in ways it doesent need to be. But LITERALLY, as shes playing it i stg all the npc’s were like “have u talked to sirona? Sirona is so cool. Sirona is so funny” like jesus christ lol. I mean it just feels so fake. Just to correct Stavros’ on the period tracking comment 😂 It was actually 2 separate news articles that through the grapevine, merged together into one story. First, a Florida high school almost made it a rule to answer questions about your menstrual cycle to play on women’s sports teams. Second, since all this AI scare is happening and the Roe vs. Wade event, women have been telling each other to delete period tracking apps to prevent proof of criminal activity in states where abortion is illegal. The trans swimmer was getting naked in the women's room and still had her male parts. The women said no one told them so it was uncomfortable. I do think this woke movement is hurting gay, trans and even racial issues. People are becoming less open minded and now feel like we are the enemy.
Woke crap hurts everyone imo. I don't care what or who someone wants to be. But as an adult biological female, I do not want a person with a penis in the bathroom or locker room with me. Majority of trans is still attracted to the opposite sex. So if a man transitions to a woman they are still attracted to women. It’s very complicated. I have experience with several being a makeup artist in the 90s. Even drag queens are entirely different. Most identify as gay who perform in drag theatre. My experiences with individual men who sought me to help them transition-revealed to me how much of a fetish it was to them. Ex: sexual gratification from wearing lingerie to then complete transition to women in public. And these examples are just a few on the dozens I could mention. I think parents have a right to be concerned and trans conversations do not belong in schools. Let kids be kids and not burden them with this.
I feel like the bit about having no girls not being attracted to you resulting in you thinking there's no chemistry with women so your only option of finding love is with guys is so spot on for me. Like I had bulimia in my teen years and had such low self esteem I went crazy and hallucinated girls thinking that I was cute then ugly for like 7 years straight. No joke every class period at school for 7 years was "acceptance," "rejection" over and over again. Before my eating disorder I knew I thought girls were pretty. This was even after when I was sexually assaulted as a kid. Like to this day I thought I was gay and maybe I am but maybe I'm bi.
I feel like you’re speaking to me. I’ve lived my life as a gay guy and now I’m like… maybe I’m not as gay as I thought. I always thought of myself as obese and disgusting and just assumed that a woman would ever want to be with me sexually. My sexual experiences with men have been meh and in my last relationship I almost never wanted to have sex while my boyfriend wanted to have sex like twice a day; it put a bit of a strain on our relationship. I had to evaluate why I have always felt my relationships have felt “off” in some way and then I was like… maybe it’s because I am not as attracted to men as I thought I was and maybe it’s because I am thinking about women a lot.

Stavros... not every trans person has bottom or top surgery, or has taken hormones that 'level the playing field.' And it's a trans person's fundamental right to take the physical form that is most comfortable to them. It's not a fundamental right to participate in sports, and it's definitely not fair for someone to compete in oppsite sex sports when they have already developed physical characteristics that give them an unfair advantage. All that said, I always will fight for the rights of trans people to have safe, happy, healthy lives... we have to be fair and realistic about things that are not fundamental.

@@dkatomski as a trans person, I'd like to weigh in. You wouldn't understand what it feels like BECAUSE you are not transgender. There are so many things to be depressed about in society like you said, most I would agree are systemic and economic. Being trans is an additional level of anxiety that you feel as a result of feeling a mismatch in your birth gender. For me and many other people, we run away from this fact about ourselves for a long time. We may recognize these feelings to some degree, but addressing those specific feelings would mean ALOT of work and explaining to people constantly where you're coming from. I tried therapy, I tried getting in shape, I had a successful cisgender and heterosexual relationship; however, none of these things addressed this fundamental part of myself that I tried so hard to push down - and trust me I tried so hard lol. When I started coming out and living authentically, the other stressors and anxieties you talked about didn't go away. But being able to be who I am, and finally able to see someone in the mirror that reflects what I feel inside, makes the sum total of everything so much more bearable. I can only say that for me, starting hormones was like taking my first full breath of a air for the first time in my life. Also you shouldn't call it mutalating your genitals, unless you also refer to any surgery as mutilating your body.

Apparently it cost Bud Light $5B’s to treat that dude with respect and dignity 😂

The only thing I get from all this controversy, is that advertising only works on simple people.
Here’s the cycle:
-Company makes some kind of marketing campaign that is vaguely socially conscious maybe either out of genuine interest to spread that message and/or to appeal to a certain audience.
-the audience it isn’t marketed to gets outraged and starts making a shitstorm over the Internet and on network outlets
-People on the other side flock to defend said business and/or call out the backlash, and thus the business gains a bunch of attention, notoriety, and thus money.
It doesn't make sense from any kind of logical marketing standpoint.
tell that to the execs that just oversaw 5 billion devaluation of the company. anheuser-busch has one of the lowest esg scores on record. imagine paying billions of dollars to impress commies.
Yup ive heard it be called queer-baiting, baiting queer customers to buy their products by associating with the group through rainbow flags and shit

@@crossmarian773 I get where you're coming from, but they didn't make Dylan the face of the company. They gave her a single can of beer with her face on it to post as sponsored content to her social media accounts. To be kinda honest, I think Bud Light miscalculated the rage this invoked in conservatives.

It really is just a very small percentage of people that are trans. I personally know only one and have never met another one. But I also have never encountered one of those crazies who think that being trans is a cool trend.
This idiot just threw out random percentages. 1% of people are not trans.
Hell,1% of americans arent even trans.

Theo is such a handsome looking guy. I wonder if he knows that
Dude what?
I agree.

@@DanEMO592 Given the natural world's need for "Man plus woman" I'm inclined to think "straight" is everyone's default and it is our environment that determines attraction. Stavros... not every trans person has bottom or top surgery, or has taken hormones that 'level the playing field.' And it's a trans person's fundamental right to take the physical form that is most comfortable to them.

I stopped drinking Bud Light long before Dylan Mulvaney endorsement so I wasnt effected when this was supposed to he an issue. But my reason for not drinking Bud Light was it tasted exactly like Budweiser I tried to compare and I did a blind test. So for me the company I felt was being dishonest by upselling the same swill via marketing, they try to convince you it tastes different. I couldnt tell the difference.😂 American Beers are either IPA bitter af or generic swill that's all the same but overmarketed.
I switched to Leinenkugel Shandies, I thought they had a better more citrus taste rather than boring generic wheat hops beer. I tried Coors too it they are ok but too wheat based not enough citrus to balance.
Used to tell the roommate....when you feeling down because someone took a 'swing at your prefrence'...remember When you are COMFORTABLE within your own skin nobody can hurt you.

Sorry for my 8 cents.
brave of theo to interview a FtM given recent events
Thing is tho Lea Thomas or whatever was a fully intact male for competition just on hormone blockers. The women that had to change in the locker room with him were the ones that said so.
Stavros got triggered af at one of his comedy shows at some dude who wasn't even heckling him he was just responding to a question of "do you have any adversity you're facing?"and the man said something about him being a white male (honestly the man was just being funny at a comedy club. Who knew that's not the place to do it?) And Stavros lost his top.
Does that make you feel like a victim? It seems like you’re objective is to make people feel bad for a white dude (indirectly you).
idk, it just kinda seemed like a light-ribbing. From the clip Stavros also seems to have misunderstood what the guy was trying to say, so yea I def think it wasn't really warranted tho

@1234 abcd for a moment, try to imagine what it would be like if being ur biological sex was a mental chore everyday. ur hormones out of line, anxiety & feeling uncomfortable. it’s literally just about having empathy towards another human. then it’s easy to not care about what others do as long as they’re not harming anyone
You are what you were born as
@@yaego The issue is everyone’s anxious and uncomfortable. That’s no reason to mutilate your genitalia. I think our culture has made people so depressed that they aren’t happy with themselves. Instead of actually fixing the root of the problem, society has convinced people something is wrong with them. But at the core it’s systemic, economic even.
Food has become to easy for some humans to acquire nowadays....

Left handed study debunks that chief
@@Confusedn1NJA The left handed study doesn't debunk that... trans numbers are growing at that rate ONLY for the age group of 14-21 year olds. (Most of which are white middle class) So for the left hand study to debunk that, the amount of left handed people should have only grown in that age group. It didn't, there was a rise across all age groups and demographics.

If you want to be trans, live your best life. I’m not fan for trans in sports but I love these two have a heavy conversation.
Why?
Yeah, can you elaborate why? Genuinely, just being trans doesn’t give you some magic advantage to be good at sports. Everyone is built differently, some people are going to have an advantage just based on their body type alone. I.e. taller people are probably gonna be a little faster in running sports, so should that not be allowed either?
@@alttabsStarting off a biological male gives you a huge advantage in most sports over biological females.
There are absolutely zero trans males running over biological males because starting off as a female does not endow benefits.
It’s not rocket science. It’s obviously not ok for a trans woman to compete against biological females unless those females agree to do so.
If the biological females want a crack at them then there’s no victim. Otherwise there’s an obvious victim.
