Jason’s mothers account of discovering her boy stolen sent shivers down my spine. Her description of her fear was so transparent even through your voice. It made me thankful that that fear every parent has of their child becoming missing never happened to me. Your podcasts are always well done, this one was gripping. I felt all the emotions

I’ve never gotten emotional listening to a podcast before but this got me. When Jason’s parents found out that he wasn’t with the others when they escaped it was devastating. As a parent, I can not even begin to fathom the level of anguish that I would feel. If I were in that situation, and it weren’t for my other children, I don’t think I would be able to resist ending my life in hopes that the pain would stop. God bless those poor people. This man is an absolute animal and is not fit to breathe the same air as the rest of us.

Ming Sen Shiue was declared eligible for parole in 2010, 29 years after he was convicted. On September 28, 2010, the Anoka Country District Judge Jenny Walker Jasper ruled Shiue would not be released and would spend the rest of his life in prison, as he still appeared a threat to society. He’s now 69 years old and thankfully he’ll die in prison....

Based judge. There are too many states and too many activist judges that would not only release him, but release him early.
The fact that judge looked at him and said, not only does he not get parole 10 years early, but he also won't get out at 40 years, instead he'll stay in the rest of his natural life.
      Awesome judge.

62 stitches on her face?! I'm blown away that he was able to attack her so viciously, in a packed courtroom, in broad daylight, surrounded by armed guards and law enforcement. How was he able to smuggle in a weapon? How was he not properly searched before coming into court?? How wasn't he immediately tackled and subdued by the security guards??? The state completely failed at their duty in protecting Mary that day.

The description of the day Jason was abducted was heart wrenching. Your scream just before describing the attack in the court room against Mary scared the crap out of me. He knew exactly what he was doing. He had planned everything and had even researched the sentences of others who had abducted people and taken them across state lines. He didn't have to kill Jason. He chose to do that. Jason was absolutely no threat to him. I'm glad to hear he will never be released.

This infuriated me bc the police should have listen to the dad when he said it wasn’t normal for her to do this, screw that waiting for longer crap just get on it and that’s for all cases. Also wish Jason’s mom had had a car and had hopped into it and chased this monster down with the other mom both locked and loaded, they may have been able to catch up, although cell phones weren’t in everyone’s hands like today, at least they could have tried to slam him into something… idk just running around the park yelling knowing his friend said he was thrown into a trunk isn’t helpful, but I do know that panic!!! I pray so hard for them parents bc no parent should be faced with this bs it’s horrible and I will say nothing ill of the mom’s reaction bc it’s what most people would do in such a horrendous situation, and they didn’t deserve it, and I pray they don’t live with guilt themselves over it all. Poor boy just was being a damn kid and ugh!!! This monster could have still let the kid live also, his friend had already seen the car and the pos monster was apparently switching to a van anyway!! 😣 poor baby!! I don’t doubt that he’s done this or something similar before kidnapping these three, bc how was he so smooth and calm with it otherwise? Then after killing that poor baby he should have been shaky a bit more on edge and nervous, but it seems he just hopped back into the car with a good story to back him up and to keep Mary calm about how he just let him go to be found, as if it was just another day of his normal life. I’d have to dig around to see if he’d gotten away with something similar prior, what if there’s others unaccounted for!? He definitely needs no parole and if I was his lawyer I wouldn’t even try helping him idc bc he obviously knew what he was doing was wrong and that there was no love. He stalked her he kidnapped her and her child then made sure to keep them tied as to not to get free so he knew exactly what tf he was doing, he just wanted his revenge and his fantasy fulfilled and sadly he used this ladies baby girl as a pawn to make her mother obey him. Hell he had even cut a hole under their bed in their home to listen in, he was crazy yeah, but not to the point he didn’t know what he was doing was wrong, bc otherwise why was it so secret duh and creepy sneaking for years. He was calculated he didn’t act on impulse just evil. I would have given him the death penalty, I’m sorry for his mother, and I don’t really agree with the death penalty, but this is one of the few times where if I couldn’t hurt him myself I’d want him dead. We all know if he gets out he has planned to finish this off with revenge, just look how many times he tried to escape even grabbed her and cut her in the court room. Yeah he’s mentally ill, but so is half the prison population, he’s just more evil than the regular drug dealers or burglars, he is a calculated, manipulative, creepy, stalker, rapist, and murderer. He watched her for years, yeah we are talking YEARSSSS!!! Even breaking into her home a few times all over a fantasy and a grade, nah if it wasn’t her it would have been someone else if not already!!!

Details are fuzzy, and I'm sure my parents shielded me from most details, but I remember they drained a swampy area near the salon as part of the search. After he went missing, there was a balance beam structure built dedicated to him, built on the school playground.

Wtf I just don't get that is that not the point of a trial for each side to prove with evidence whether a person is innocent or guilry?? N they had many opportunities to leave n if it read me n my daughter you bet if I didn't want to leave I'd defo have my daughter at least run for her life!!! He took them clothes shopping n traveled around in a RUV while he left them alone n even then they never tried scream for help knowing he was gone for hours!! Idk sounds like they were quite happy I can't comprehend them being in fear for their lives while he was gone the fear would of left with him I would of thought??? Sounds all a bit unbelievable tbh but only 1hr.20 mins into it!!! Maybe their reasoning hasn't been explained fully n my comment is a bit premature

It didn’t happen to you though. So how can you know the fear they felt? Got to be the most deluded horrible comment. You think she enjoyed being raped, captive with her child, who he put a bag on her head, so she had to comply? WOW. Let’s hope you never end up in a horrific situation like this. And when they were first kidnapped Beth was screaming constantly, a terrified child. Maybe open ears and listen before commenting utter annoying nonsense. 😡😡.

Jason wasn't just some little kid, he was a divinely guided angel! Watch for signs and symbols on your path as it guides you to your true North. Prayer is what saved these souls. They met with evil and Jason tried to save them.

So in the end they ended up just walking out of the house and hiding behind a bush completely on their own... I'm sorry, what?! Also why wouldnt a school teacher know she can call 911 why would she have to memorize a number from a police car.

      That was 1980 NO 911

@@JoshyP744 On February 16, 1968, Alabama Senator Rankin Fite made the first 911 call in the United States in Haleyville, Alabama. The Alabama Telephone Company carried the call. A week later, Nome, Alaska, implemented a 911 system.

      Statewide Implementation
Minnesota Statutes Chapter 403 was passed in 1977 and required all counties to implement 911 by the end of 1986. The Telecommunications Division of the Department of Administration provided planning, help and encouragement to the counties. The statewide 911 law defined the role of the Department of Administration to complete this project and included the cooperation and assistance of the Metropolitan Council (the Metropolitan 911 Board and currently named the Metropolitan Emergency Services Board).
The law required each county to develop a plan to implement 911, implementation by December 15, 1982, in the seven-county metropolitan area, and by December 15, 1986 in the remaining counties. The 911 law also created a commission to determine an equitable method of paying for 911 in Minnesota which and resulted in funding being added to the 911 law in 1978

She didn't just "walk out of the house." Mary successfully removed the hinge pin on the closet door while chained to her daughter, called the police from the kitchen, and hid with her daughter until the police finally arrived. Also, 911 wasn't implemented into the twin cities until after 1980. Maybe you could stop judging a woman who endured horrible things and saved herself and her daughter.

sorry to be so rude here, but Mary Stauffer was absolutely hideous, it's bizarre to see someone take so many violent risks for a wholly unremarkable marm, like what the fuck was he thinking lol

I'm ashamed of that comment on your behalf. I hope the past two years have somehow taught you not to speak that way about others, alive or dead - especially about people who've done you no wrong, and extra-especially about people who you know have gone through terrible ordeals through no fault of their own. There can be no acceptable reason for going so low.
