That example of killing a bile titan with a flamethrower sounds awesome. Should it be the ideal tool? No. Can it be done if you are crazy enough? Yes. Thing like that is exactly what I want to see instead of being hard capped to specific tools for something like a bile titan
It was super disappointing a few weeks ago when my lobby tried for a flame thrower only challenge against a bile titan. We spent ages standing directly under it trying to cook it and stopped getting hit markers. It was like it was entirely immune to fire damage. It's a stupid tactic but a very fun one so it's great that we will have the option.
I don't like that they reverted the changes, the way flames functioned then would allow the sidearm to easily take down chargers. So I understand the nerf, but I do understand that it then needed a buff too. I would have preferred they did something like increase its range so it can be repurposed to swarm clear or something instead of being a heavy killer. Or rework how AI interacts with fire so that the smaller stuff will attempt to go around a wall of fire instead of jumping through it at you. I don't think most of the community really understands why they're upset.
If the TORCHER gets AP4, that's an entire new avenue of game opened up. MG43 / Stalwart on bots, and you're not completely unable to kill hulks from the front - stun em and then run up, cook the visor. Makes sense! Melt the internals of the most critical spot for the hulk's ongoing functionality!
If the Torcher gets buffed enough to be able to cook a Charger from the front, even if I have to do it from point-blank, ,Torcher/MG is going to be my new main for bugs.

Helldivers has never been a difficult game. The issue right now is I try out certain weapons and immediately want to blow my head off with a railgun. The game NEEDS variety to make more challenging gameplay possible.
It'll keep being fun like it always has been, and even if they buff 50 things and then nerf 1, all the HellWhiners will start screeching about how, 'ThAy NeRf EvRyThInG aNd KiLlInG tHa GaEm An HaTe FuN!!!1!!!"
I'll take those. Nothing so far has replaced the feeling Helldivers 2 gave me at its peak. The FUN, the community, the MEMES. I'll take whatever amount of it I can get.
I remember erwin clowning on dough for asking for buffs on weapons and stratagems. Erwin summed it up as people need to just get good, and going on about his "stealth" builds in a game with next to no stealth mechanics. It's good to see dough on the ups
Giving the explosive liberator the default fire-rate alone is too much work for them. Most primaries' lackluster nature is not even mechanics, but just straight up stats.
You hit the nail on the head for me. For the longest time I've been trying to figure out why I love HD2 so much and it is literally the "glass cannon" play style. Even with all the nerfs I still play, though not nearly as much as I used to. We got turned into glass cannons with minimal boom. If they continue down this line of thought and give us our boom back things will be much better
i fell off kinda hard lvl 70. I really want them to come out with the squids. That will for sure get me playing again. Also I wish they had all 15 min missions.
Honestly the players complaining about how it's going to be "too easy". If it is too easy then either play something else or just play at a higher difficulty level. Problem solved.
It's piss easy on 10 with coordinated teammates. And doable solo, except these base defense missions. I'm still baffled by people crying about weapon nerfs and celebrating weapon buffs over fixing\improving tons of other issues this game has. Nobody will return for flamethrower change. Nobody.

Ik what you mean but armour works differently for npc compared to players. For players it's just a dmg reduction, for the enemies if you don't have enough pen you will simply not deal dmg
If they're making the rocket ammo on all bots no longer unlimited as they told, I'm okay with those rockets being a bit more deadly. We''ll also be more capable to quickly kill those foes before they can shoot us.
You'll just find something to whine about no matter what. I respect dough for not just staying negative about the game, he clearly loves it and always just wanted it to be better, but some of y'all just want to hear yourselves complain. Sad existence
You do realise that the player has no armour class right? Armour pen and armour class, durability, are all for enemy stats. Our armour rating is a damage reduction stat, has nothing to do with penetration, since we basically have AC0, as everything deals damage to us.
I feel like there's a misunderstanding about challenge vs completion rate (difficulty). Something challenging will be difficult, but not always the other way around. Walking through a barrage has a low completion rate, but that doesn't make it challenging. Rolling a specific number on a dice might be difficult, but it isn't challenging. (Thinking about ragdolling and headshots)
I'm cautiously optimistic. It should take the HORDE that makes it a horde shooter to become the impossible kill, instead of me running for miles to avoid the same 10 chargers in a difficulty 5 mission that I would be running from in a difficulty 8
for me, it was too late, spending time on Space Marines 2 now, and i dont quit any time soon. Arrowhead messed up this game so much that my fun in it is over, I don't feel the slightest desire to go back and find the same problems or new ones that would irritate me again.
Bro, Space Marine 2 is cool, sure, but don't pretend like its perfect and not repeating the same mistakes as Helldivers. In Space Marine 2 you can kill any enemy with any weapon, it just takes forever and you have very little ammo. Classes, perks and weapons are extremely unbalanced and not in the fun way. Everything we have as an offensive and defensive means is pretty mediocre, not enough ammo, not enough health regen, not enough armor regen, not enough damage on weapons, not enough ways to avoid damage, not enough meaningful perks, not enough missions to play. Helldivers 2, even in this state, has a lot more going on for the player, and he is just a regular dude. As a space marine, you literally feel weaker than a brainwashed 18 year old Helldiver.
@@EIHuevoCosmic Hard disagree. Space Marines have s on their dodge rolls and a parry that regens shields. You can avoid or regen 100% of all damage coming your way if you just push the right buttons at the right time. Not really the case in Helldivers, where a stray explosion just instabodies you. The ammo meta is pretty lame, but that's about it. Harder difficulties just force you to rely more on teamwork and synergies. Literally all I think they need to do is buff carried ammo by 50% across the board and make ammo pickups give more. Helldivers has *way* more problems than ammo.

From what i can understand they fixed charger legs soo even if they reverted flamethrower to what it was before EoF update it would still not kill chargers that's why they reduced armor of charger and increased AP of flamethrower for it to be able to do that and they buffed dmg by 30% soo it would cook them quicker or rathet about same time as before update (it will be armor 4 of leg vs AP 4 of flamethrower soo it will deal 50% dmg if i understand that right)

Everyone thats stopped has moved on already to other games, with a lot of them having gone to fight for the Imperium instead (which has turned out to be way more fun. And with a far better customisation system). They wont be returning to nerfdivers. And, heres the best part of it all! End of the month Starship Troopers: Extermination launches in its 1.0 state. Well, as a dev, let me tell you that "we can't do that" is almost always not a skill issue, but a time issue. Time is a resource more scarce than ammo on a Ruthless PvE map in SM2, so we *have* to justify the time investment. Saying "it's impossible" shuts people up a lot quicker and the team lead won't have to bitch and moan for fifteen minutes about PMs/POs being argumentative dicks every standup. Oftentimes we have to communicate in absolutes like that so that we can get the stuff done that has higher priority. My guess is Pilestedt made the fire nerf reverts a top priority which allowed the devs to justify the huge amount of work, which meant other stuff has been put on the back burner of course, but this time they could point at him and go "he said it, go argue with him" and keep working instead of arguing.

@@Nartanek You have to understand that nothing is done in a vacuum and that this change may have been a huge change they worked on for weeks if not months that touched essentially every other system in the game. Or, even worse, it's a change that has been done for weeks and was just waiting for release, making the revert impossible without scrapping and redoing everything that builds on top of it. I understand your point, but I just know from personal experience that seemingly simple changes can be a bitch to revert. That's why I give them the benefit of the doubt. The level of "back" we will be experiencing is going backwards through time we end up coming back around the timeline and emerging into the present from the future. We are "infinite back".
My original gripe was the idea of "balancing". Balancing is to make weapons fair so that no one has a competitive edge, but nobody is getting the short end of the stick with powerful weapons in a PvE game like helldivers. I am glad that Arrowhead has seen their error and corrected it. Lemme say it one more time HELLDIVERS IS ABOUT POWERTRIPS, the BUGS and BOTS are NOT other PLAYERS.
"Weapons will be where the players, and me, always though they should have been." My guy, you're the CCO, if you wanted the weapons to go a certain direction, why have they been going the opposite? I was born at night but it wasn't last night.
I assume it's a compromise they had to do because another way to counter 'easy' gameplay is to up the enemy count (it's a horde shooter game anyway). But that route is not compatible with the console side. I doubt PS5 could handle triple the spawn rate. I'd rather be outnumbered than outgunned.
They wanted weapons to make sense, but ended up going too far in the "Armor is unbreakable" rabbit hole and ended up with enemies that don't take damage from a majority of items. seems like the update will remedy that issue.
I have faith in Arrowhead, and i still really enjoy Helldivers 2 Im sure now that people have gotten space marine 2 out of their system, and they see its nowhere near as good as Helldivers, they'll be back to spreading democracy. There's nothing else out there like it

Ironically, Helldivers 2 so called "difficulty" has nothing in common with Souls games difficulty. Souls games are expected to be fair and consistent, while Helldivers 2 is not. Also, I am not sure Helldivers 2 can be considered "difficult" when played as "intended", that is with 4 people sticking together using a lot of offensive stratagems. Orbital barrages keep getting buffed for instance, and defenders of the game insist that you are supposed to use them as the primary way to clear enemies, and then use your weapons on whatever remains. Which might be true, but personally I don't find calling down a barrage all that challenging.

End game setting like 1 down or doom eternal insanity levels should be options but shouldn’t be balanced around for the primary audience. Every single one of my friends who have a job have stopped playing the game because they feel like the game doesn’t reward their time since it’s a crap shoot if our teammates are good or not. We had the most fun during the rail gun glitch and after the spear fix.
Yeah, that approach to balance is the best of some weapons being clearly better at the job but none (at least within reason) making it downright impossible. Cause variety is fun and if the difficulty forces a meta on you, then variety dies. Also very encouraging to see that AH is realizing what they should do. So many devs nowadays seem to see their playerbase as enemies and actively work against them. Rare to have some of them think: "Wait, these are the ones we wanna keep playing our game. If the majority of them say that the game is not fun as it is right now, we should listen."
Why is it bad for some support weapons to be bad at things? SPEAR can't kill light enemies. EATS is really bad for it. So why would laser cannon be good at killing Titans? AC already outshines all Anti Tank , now it's going to be an even greater gap.
@zharkev1748 SPEAR is very strong against Tanks, but incapable against light and most medium enemies. Autocannon and Flamethrower will soon be very good to excellent for light and medium enemies, and very capable to very good for tank enemies. Why would you ever bring the SPEAR if this is the case?
That example of killing a bile titan with a flamethrower sounds awesome. Should it be the ideal tool? No. Can it be done if you are crazy enough? Yes.
Thing like that is exactly what I want to see instead of being hard capped to specific tools for something like a bile titan
It was super disappointing a few weeks ago when my lobby tried for a flame thrower only challenge against a bile titan. We spent ages standing directly under it trying to cook it and stopped getting hit markers. It was like it was entirely immune to fire damage.
It's a stupid tactic but a very fun one so it's great that we will have the option.
yes, and especially if those tools need to take up your limited slots of strategems
@@yellaturd It's not immune, just very low direct damage.
@@yellaturd you need to crack its back armor in order for the flamerthrower to actually damage it (which is weird but it's currently how it works)
If the TORCHER gets AP4, that's an entire new avenue of game opened up. MG43 / Stalwart on bots, and you're not completely unable to kill hulks from the front - stun em and then run up, cook the visor. Makes sense! Melt the internals of the most critical spot for the hulk's ongoing functionality!
hulks and tanks need those gigantic heat sinks presumably because their internals are weak to heat so it makes sense
If the Torcher gets buffed enough to be able to cook a Charger from the front, even if I have to do it from point-blank, ,Torcher/MG is going to be my new main for bugs.

@@TheBatDERP they never said that though, did they?
From what i can understand they fixed charger legs soo even if they reverted flamethrower to what it was before EoF update it would still not kill chargers that's why they reduced armor of charger and increased AP of flamethrower for it to be able to do that and they buffed dmg by 30% soo it would cook them quicker or rathet about same time as before update (it will be armor 4 of leg vs AP 4 of flamethrower soo it will deal 50% dmg if i understand that right)

I'd rather be outnumbered than outgunned.

then my friend got the game at first we had fun but more and more all we kept doing was running away in a duo que. every new update they kept making rando swarm squads appearing more and more often. the same difficulty we were doing before and having fun. i suddenly couldn't stand anymore you would end up in and endless loop of cant kill enemies cause they wont stop coming till i run out of ammo no matter how much i kill,
like i really think they need to add a reprieve mechanic to the game where roaming squads stop spawning if you manage to clear everything out. it would allow for a loud and go hard playstyle. instead of i just killed 4 bile titans and 2 swarms but everything's on cooldown o great rando swarm goku teleports behind you.
i even tried doing some solo random ques again when game lost fun for me and my friend. and everybody was just running carpet bomb run run run to next objective strategy. there was legit no variety. everyone was doing the gotta go fast strat using the same strategems. almost no variety. and effectively not even playing the game. you cant call that fun. when the only way to play the game high level is 1 way and its by running away from the enemies. not fighting them. if you tried to fight people would just leave you to die. we all talk about and meme up the for democracy. but like legit it wasn't there the higher you went in difficulty. because the game isn't balanced for fun.

I love how Analytical and accurate you are to discussing the issues of our favorite games.
So after all the "git gud" BS from the devs and "WE WANNA MAKE IT A MIL-SIM!" the negative Steam reviews and dwindling playerbase finally got to them... sorry, but us having to force their hand out of fear of Sony retribution doesn't make this feel any better.
Og, then let me 1 shot basically every bot sincd it would fry their elecrto crap. Its the most bs excuse ove heard from an incompetent dev team
@@LarryPigeon1back then, they were right about skill issue, but then they nerfed flame damage, that was just the last straw.
@@LeviMiller-t5sR.I.P. flamethrower, I had glorious games with it and a supply pack with impact incendiary grenades and a breaker incendiary. Maybe one day it’ll be back
@@LeviMiller-t5s They weren't right since the dev who say that on Reddit admitted to balance around difficulty 4-6 and wanted to piss off people mad about the nerfs.
Pilestedt: "The point of HellDivers is you are weak, but your weapons are strong."
Okay, I like that. That sounds good. Honestly I have always said to myself I don't mind HellDivers dying easily but it's more fun when the enemies do, too.
Otherwise how do you mesh that with the knowledge that Super-Earth has pretty much conquered the universe? How do you justify that if your soldiers are so piss-weak?
"My name is Johan" "and I'm Nikolas!"
"And we are scared to death of Space Marine 2"
Bro why everyone acts like Space marine 2 will kill Helldivers 2, they're different games, they'll be both alive
have you even seen sm2? It doesn't have a whole lot of replayability outside of pvp mode, so pve lovers will leave quite quickly
Space marine 2 isn't nearly as fun or unique as HD2 imo
@@sei_asagiri cope - FOR THE EMPEROR!!!1!!1111111!1!!1
I got the ick with sm2 when I saw that the difficulty system for some reason requires you to grind for high level weapons just so you get enough damage to pierce through unjustifiably tanky high diff enemies. most bs progression route in my opinion, I still liked the main campaign, but this game has alot of issues and is NOTHING like HD2 to be its killer, and then again, the PVE not being randomly generated which makes it insanely linear will kill the interest of even the most resilient gamers.
7:24 This argument doesn't hold up, because our arsenal is stronger than it has ever been by far. People would be loving the game if that were true
So basically solving problems they caused? This game is beyond pathetic. Remember when we were excited for a third faction like 6 months ago? Now we’re excited that the flamethrower isn’t changing.
🎯 glad to see other people see through the bull shit
So whats your point? Bad decisions were made for many months. Whats your suggestion? Just close the studio? Magically fix the mistakes while also crapping content?
@@RovingFox the mistakes shouldnt have been made in the first place. It was a demonstration of great incompetence that does not leave much room for confidence in their future decisions. The fact it took most of the time the game’s been released for to begin to recognise what their playerbase wants is actually insane and what has been done in recent updates barely scratch the surface of this game’s numerous issues. So what im saying is… no, the game is not “back”. Still a very long road ahead and I honestly doubt it will even make it to the starting line.
@@ImNotFine44 k, your complaints are reasonable. Mistakes were made, time moves forwards, not backwards. What should they do now?
@@RovingFoxfirst of all bad decisions is a collosal understatement. Second of all our point is arrowhead deserves zero respect zero sympathy and zero support, and the fact that they still have to gall to talk about how good the next update will be shows that they will never learn. It is true that they don't have much else to do but try to fix their mistakes however they deserve all the criticism they get and more. My dream that I know will never happen is hd2 gets put into the hands of a different studio who understands how to run a a live service game.
Honestly I think the bigger issue is stagger, slow and stun with flame thrower. Flamethrower should at least slow enemies when hitting them directly (unarmoured at least).
Arrowhead are chronic fumblers. Do not celebrate too early lads
The CR in "CR10" likely stands for "Challenge Rating" which is a term to describe the difficulty of enemies in tabletop RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons. In this case, it just means "Difficulty".
Saved me writing that out 😂
All of this lacks any substance if it doesn't coincide with an announcement that the balance guy has been moved or fired.
there's more than 1 balance guy so you're oblivious to reality at this point. on par with not playing helldivers because of "discord mods"
@@OhDough Customer treatment is an excellent incentive for engagement or the lack thereof. Stop being obtuse. You're doing it on purpose. If you have absolutely vile people doing customer relations, customers will be reluctant to come back. We are literally going back thousands of years of established mercantile techniques.
The vile treatment of the players by both the balance devs stoking the fire while enjoying customer anger and the discord mods being pretty much horrible human beings who accuse people they don't like of one of the worst crimes in the world.
Get a grip and stop being a kid.
If the person that was accused decided to sue that disgusting person, based on what information we have, they would win.
Period. They made a matter of fact statement to defame. Or is it ok to do that now? What if someone accused you of that publicly?
Is that ok Dough?
Now imagine a person who would do that is employed by you. Worse yet, they did it while on the clock.
Would they still be employed dough?
Stop being a "vidya games is life" child.
This is the problem with your generation. You have no principles. It's why corpos will always own you. Would your grandfather have stood for that crap from someone he was buying something from?
Do better at being a human with some semblance of goddamn standards.
And this is from someone who generally likes your content.
this is honestly their last chance imo, if this update falls flat you might as well call it a wrap on HD2. Im holding out buying space marine 2, this update will be the major determining factor on wether or not I do. I dont play a lot of games, but the ones I do play I like them to be fun not frustrating.
Why is there so many negative comments? I know Helldivers 2 has had a rough past, but I feel we should at least have some hope for the changes they are going to implement, and it's okay if it doesn't start out perfectly with no bugs, just as long as the game goes in the right direction in a reasonable time. Being this negative without waiting for the update is unreasonable, feels like some people just want it to fail. This update might make me come back to Helldivers 2 after months of being gone. I'm giving them faith and hope.
Toxic positivity goons like you ruined the game industry
Many have been burned one too many times.
its scary for some to reignite their hopes, when their faith in arrowhead has been so thoroughly butchered.
many will just default to the "i'll believe it when i see it" mentality.
Because all the kids are getting home from school
Because the glizzy glazer part of the community is angry that the devs backtracked on their stance. The rest are the mindless ragebaiters who have been feeding into the RUclips ragebait.
Because the Devs talk shit maybe that and the owner has made his money and just gives lip service
Don't really care unless they bring back the Eruptor
I’m not too worried, and am excited to see a buffed flamethrower, but I’d like to be confident that most other support weapons will be just as viable, all while not making the game too easy.
It’ll be a hard balance, hopefully they make it all work.
Having an OP arsenal is never the problem, it's the way to make the game harder that's bottle-necked. If killing is way too easy then double the spawn rate, but we know the console side won't handle that well so we HAVE to take that side into consideration. IDC if we can kill enemies twice as fast but triple their spawn numbers.
The game is going to 100% be too easy after this patch. That has become abundantly clear based on what Arrowhead has been saying.
@@aaronhumphrey3514Good, and the 20 to 30 thousand egotards can go play dark souls and stroke their egos with that if they don't like it.👍
@@aaronhumphrey3514 It's always been easy. You can literally run away from everything, do the obj, minimized the fighting part and GTFO. I've done D10 with only orbital barrages, without firing a single bullet.

Ohh man! This right here is big hopium! If the devs actually keep their promise on this, then this update would actually be bigger than Escalation of Freedom itself and there's a good chance this game can be saved from going this path. But we shall all see if they keep their promise or not when this update happens.
Lots of words, I’ll believe it when I see actions
a buff a day keeps the complains away
look at Oh Dough swapping to Glazing
Look at that TTK on the flamer on the charger
We are once again back to trusting their every word and not thinking critically, dope.
That's the same ttk from before, to the body. They were shooting the head, which always took like 6 seconds or so
Exactly, glass cannon playstyle is the (was, gonna be) joy of this game. If i'm the storm trooper charging into the breach, how would i fare? I still gotta blaster ;)
i stepped away from helldivers a few months ago cuz my friends gotb ored and i wanted the illuminate back before i returned but seeing all the (well-deserved) negativity about the games patches lately and jus seeing people hating on it in general made me reinstinall. aint even watched the video yet im just glad to see theres good news for once whatever it is
Never stopped playing. Will now play even more
Good news but don't be a premi, very cautiously waiting to see the full patch notes before I even look at the store page to reinstall
Were stepping in the right direction. Thank god 🙏
I just hope the devs actually start talking and listening to each other the fact most of the devs where gone for 6 weeks leaving a small group making all the decisions unchallenged is just dumb.
Now if we can just get performance improvements and more buffs consistently? We are *_SO_* back!!!
They also need to make ragdolling not as infuriating. You can get stunlocked and die with no control and it is _not_ fun.
Helldivers 2 is life itself. There are up and downs but we are all living trough it.
It's like an abusive relationship lmao, it gives and it takes, but you don't leave.
Its still overwhelmingly positive
Surely they won't fuck this up
😂😂😂
It's not changing 💀 W patch tho but it's still gonna be the same experience, same missions, nothing new to grind for
🎯 we are six months deep with pretty much zero new content that actually changes how you play and the game is still RIDDLED with bugs and crashes constantly and we're talking about reverting nerfs. AH is absolutely pathetic
A real like horde/wave defense would be sick like kn warframe. The longer you go the better rewards you get. Want to stop? Yea can leave every 5 waves. Help beacon would actually be usefull since some stratas have a dumb as cool down.
I am a advocate to use every and all tools in your arsenals to complete a mission, I am so very happy and excited that is coming back. There were missions on 9 and higher where I legit used from all the ammo in my sidearm, all my grenades, and my fists, to using the heavy weapon unconventionally, I miss the old commando power fantasy and our tools should reflect that. We are talking 4v1,000,000 on the worst missions, our tools need to be on par with our creative abilities. I cannot wait for the 17th patch and the squids returning
PREP FOR DROP!
o7
steamcharts would like to disagree with that.
Every day, the active count drops both on peak and low times to less and less. So this "we're so back!" just sounds like a big load of copium (x
This is because people are waiting for the update to drop, it’s just that simple. Remember, these changes aren’t out yet, they drop on the 17’th.
@@lawfulspoon374 The only time I would actually see "we're so back" as being a valid thing, would be if the game got back to at least half its original population.
Which isnt happening. Perhaps, maybe if they keep their word for a change and have the 17th be somewhat decent, you might peak above that 30k again. It wont be much more than that. More than likely, you'll barely notice a dent in player numbers.
unless they screw up, which is very likely. Its AH after all. Which means a nice little peak for one day to then drop to half of what you've got left over (x
I'm still having so much fun playing duo with my friend on Helldivers 2 atm, but this update will make it even better. I'm not super excited simply happy and patiently waiting for these refreshing changes with a smile.
Gives others flack for daring to compare HD2 to SM2 then gets all misty eyed at an update thats not out and yet to be confirmed as anything the devs have teased, quite literally.
Should the devs get massive praise for simply rolling back a weapon update? Meh.
Just remember that were at this point purely because of the devs distain for their players...
None of the enemies should have been immune to flame throwers in the first place, its incredibly short range weapon with a lot of risk to squad mates so it should always be high DPS and armour pen as a trade off
It only took a massive review bomb on steam to get them to backpedal but here we are. Hopefully they start listening to the section of the community who play on difficulty 10 and know what they are actually talking about.
Honestly this is the best mentality, the majority of the content should be fun and rewarding.
We're Making Flamethrowers Great Again
Because AC is Pilestedt's favourite...
Spear for light enemies?? Could you elaborate
