My hero was my man of the match was you MATT DAWSON ...GREAT move for Martin J to place himself in the right place to bring about the very best of moments to the world of rugby fans !! BLOODY AWESOME... Decade later ...still bloody awesome !!!
I may be Welsh but I always support England against the SH teams and France. Incredible moment for English sport - might even say British sport just to feel included ;) glad I can say I got to see that England team play live. Beat Wales in Cardiff something like 22-9
One of the best rugby teams ever to walk on the earth. Let me add..i was in the toilets in a pub in south africa after Lomu destroyed England. And Martin Johnson was in the toilets after the game when a old English supporter - drunk accused Martin of loosing the game. And me a springbok supporter told Martin ignore the drunk guy and he just laughed. So glad he lifted that cup eventually as captain.
I’m a football fan , can’t stand rugby union but that is one of the great moments in English sport. I put it on a pedestal with 66, Vaughan’s Ashes in 2005, Super Saturday at London 2012 which was the high point of a great Olympics for this country and the Cricket World Cup in 2019
England couldn’t get away from Australia once they nosed in front….Australia could have nipped past England. History,England had played very well for a few seasons before they eventually won it..they were on form, deserved it..closely run final though..Australia scored the first try.Folau.
Matt, you are wrong about Steward's red card. Completely justified and his look after receiving it wasn't one of surprise, but of petulence & arrogance. I hope that's not an indication of the direction English rugby is heading.
The ball had been knocked on by Ireland and Hugo was ducking low as he charged headfirst into Steward's elbow for no reason given he knew it was England's advantage. Not one single pundit in world rugby thinks it was a red, even Irish ones, e.g. Heaslip. Even Pyper didn't think it was a red 'in the current climate', he was just afraid of backlash given the scrutiny (justified) around head injuries. There were several levels of mitigation he simply ignored. You couldn't be more wrong mate, enjoy your well deserved grand slam.

That little girl being jumped around by her daddy at 6:35 is about 25 years old now. Amazing.
The only time I think I ever saw Johnno smile on a rugby pitch 😂
As an England sports fan this is my top memory!

Nostalgia is all England has left.
Eh?
To alter an old saying "better to have won than never have won at all".

@David Dixon Once they've all gone will they still be banging on about 66?
@@stevenbissett of course thats the reward for being the victor
just like soccer, england like to remind us about that one time they won the rugby world cup
2003 is slowly becoming 1966. Come on guys. It's embarrassing.
Last time NZ beat them? 😮
@Canvasbed I guess, when you've only got one RWC, the showcase reel is pretty bare.
Its been our `66 since that kick went over.
They've been runners up twice since, hardly the same. Actually played 1 more final than South Africa - difference is they've never lost in one!
