In today’s video, we’ll go on a tour around Panglao Island in Bohol. I’ll give you a tour of my place at Momovillage Guesthouse, with its amazing spiral tower designed by an artist. We’ll visit Alona Beach and Henann Resort, go for a cave swim at Hinagdanan Cave, stop by the best place for snorkeling on the island and tour a few rental properties.
    MOMOVILLAGE Guesthouse, Panglao, Bohol Philippines
Filipina Ana and her Dutch artist husband, Mark, Initially built Momovillage as a retreat for their visiting artist friends, Now they make their studio-rooms available for people wanting to experience life in a more ‘off the beaten track’ manner, but still equipped with modern comforts like satellite TV and a fast internet connection. The rooftop area is a great addition and has an awesome 360-degree view and if that’s not enough for you you can go one story higher to the crow's nest.
Momovillage is surrounded by natural tropical forest and is a short walk, about 300 meters to the secluded Momo white sand beach.
Room prices vary depending on the time of year and which floor you are on. At the time of this video, My room rents for ₱26,700 per month, that’s about $533 USD.
My room is fairly large and I like that my work area has two windows that allow for the breeze to blow through when I have them open. The kitchen area is small but I have been eating all my meals out and haven’t used it. Drinking water is provided. The bed is large and there are double doors that open up to the balcony. The bathroom has hot water and a small window.
Ana and Mark also own and operate A fast boat that makes trips daily to Oslab and then returns back to Panglao perfectly for people wanting to swim with the whale sharks and come back the same day.
    ALONA BEACH
Alona beach is located less than 2 miles from the new Panglao - Bohol International Airport. Compared to other tourist locations, Alona Beach is rather small as it spans about a half-mile in length, of white powder sand. Most of the restaurants, bars, and nightlife are located in this area. The restaurants along the beach set out tables on the sand and it’s a nice place to enjoy dinner and some drinks while the sun goes down.
The beach is located near a "house" reef, where corals and colorful fishes can be seen even without diving equipment. Scuba diving trips, island hopping, and snorkeling tours can easily be booked from tour operators located at Alona Beach.
There are several nice resorts and hotels in this area and many are even affordable for long-term stays. Henann Resort is one of the best luxury resorts in Bohol Philippines and It’s located right on Alona Beach They have many room choices and a nice swimming pool and beach bar.
NAPPLING POINT and Almira Diving Resort
Napaling Point Resort and Almira Diving Resort are side-by-side, have affordable rooms, and they overlook a great reef. I stayed at Almira for a while and enjoyed swimming with the sardines daily and had many good meals at the restaurant at Napaling Point resort as well. The sardines run right in front of the resorts and you can experience swimming with the sardines with a mask and a snorkel, right from the beach, no boat ride necessary. Nappling Wall drops off to great depths, providing a great destination for freediving as well.
Almira has a swimming pool and they offer scuba certification courses where you can attain your pool and open-water training all at the same location. They also have a great yoga facility that overlooks the dive site.
    HINAGDANAN CAVE
In the heat of the day, cave swimming at Hinagdanan Cave can be a nice, cool, refreshing break. The cave is lit by sunlight which filters through holes in the ceiling. There are several fruit and drink stands around the entrance to the cave where you can get something to eat and the entrance fee to the cave is 50 pesos or about a dollar.
My favorite places to eat are small local restaurants called carinderias. They don’t offer set menus but instead, customers choose their food from an array of serving dishes and large pots.
So, my meal here is 100 Pesos or about 2 dollars for pork menudo, vegetables in coconut sauce, and rice.

Jim, that was your best video yet. I’m not saying that because Panglao Beach, Bohol is one of my favorite places in the Philippines but because you captured it so well. You nailed it!

Sebastian Voinov, Thanks for watching. I do like to cook sometimes but often while I'm working, I spend a lot of time trying different restaurants in different areas and I spend all day away from home getting video shots.

Hinagdanan is Filipino for bat shit cave. Swimming there is not a good idea. Is there an entrance fee for snorkeling with sardines if not staying at the hotel? Agreed, carandaria is the best way to dine, but you have to try an overpriced beach seafood meal at least once.

    • @LivingOverseasTV
      @LivingOverseasTV  4 года назад +1

oceanic16, Thanks for the information. There is a 100 PHP entrance fee at the resort if you want to use their facility. Otherwise, just left of the resorts there is a place you can park your motorbike and go down a steep path to the water.
