What did you use between the ski and the skate deck too hold them spaced and toghether? Would like to make something similar.

I’ve used a few different things like 2x4 or some kind of metal bracket but using actual snowskate trucks is the very best. I’ve been using Harfang snowskate trucks on pretty much every set up. I’ve never bent them or had them fail in any way. There are other brands that make snowskate trucks as well. Rocker trucks are more expensive and very nice but the Harfang trucks do the same job very well. When building your own setup you might end up with something that performs in a way nothing on the market could. Good Luck!

    How long is the sci?

What length and width is the subdeck and in what ways does it act different from wider (normally marketed) subdecks?

I’m not totally sure it’s probably about 3” wide. It’s a kids ski. With a sub deck that has less width your edges are more sensitive, your turns engage easier and you may hold an edge turning better but there are downsides too. With the skinny ski sub deck you sink easier you can’t ride as deep of snow and it can make grinds in the park very difficult. Can you imagine doing 5050 on 3” ski with no bindings? It’s pretty difficult to board slide too. The fatter sub deck is probably much better in the park. But for carving groomers the little kids ski sub deck works amazingly well.

Thanks! Going out today for first time ever. Using Line Mike Nick 98cm under a 36" deck. They are 4" in middle and about 4.7" wide at tips.

Sorry for delayed response, I am using LY bear trucks. I am not sure how to send a pic on a comment. Had fun and small successes at the resort bunny hill, but then yesterday had great fun with a 4m wind wing on a couple fresh inches of snow on a frozen lake in 17kts gusting to 30kts. By the end could go goofy when on a starboard tack. The skate would torpedo if the drifts were like 6 or 8" deep. Will have to modify an old snowboard for lake running. But what fun this all is!

@ awesome to hear you’re able to make set ups that fit your different uses. I’m always happy to help in any way and interested in what you come up with

The sub deck is a kids ski. the top deck is used the whole thing cost me less then 100 to put together. I prefer the way it rides over other snowskates on the market but it’s not available to buy I’ve only out this one together for myself
