Hello this is the police may I help you..... A noise complaint? Can you describe the noise? Someone left the engines running on a 747..... and you don't live next to an airport.
got one, not mine tho. living in apartment. the sound is really loud and the heat is soo hot. but there's no complain from neighbor which is good. electric cost, terrible.
diGritz1 yeah they really are that loud. I had two and tried to change the fans to something quieter...doesn’t work since the vitamin crap works on a wind tunnel concept.
Lol. Love it. I tried to peacefully coexist with Antminer S1's back in the day. Thankfully it was winter and it heated the house but it was either take a sledgehammer to kill them which they fully deserved or get out of mining and sell them for what I could get. The noise and heat ultimately drove me out of mining with ASICs. Zero versatility for using them on anything but what they were designed for and you were lucky if they ship them straight away without running the hell out of them first when they're at their highest profitability. Nightmare.
+Anthony Pierre Appreciate it! We try to keep them light and not too deep down the mining rabbit hole since we're a tech channel, not a mining channel.
Here 2020, that thing makes $0.15/day. I bought one of these for the power supply, because I got them both for $40 and really needed a high amperage power supply. A super good deal for a 1,200watt power supply.
@HypnoBoygaming Just bought a Antminer S9j for about $434. That would make $3+/day which is actually pretty good. Along with my other miners, I'll pay it off in just 30 days.
Electricity rates in Quebec are 5.8canadian cent per kWh, and in winter it is very cold. Just using the miner to heat the house in winter, or the swimming pool in summer, and you would probably break even within six months!
I too wish to invest into a small scale jet engine. Might get more use out of the small scale jet engine attached to a ride-on lawn mower. Might not be able to mine coins, but does the job on the small property I'm on and can mow others lawns in a matter of minute for cash. Only issue is strapping into the seat and not falling off while mowing.
Though the ASICs ( the newer ones at least) have crazy payouts per month, i'm still sticking to my gpu rig. Has a different experience that ASIC doesn't have.
Receiving my Baikal X10 Giant today.. Yes, a dash miner at only 10ghs.. The kicker though... 4 more algos available, with two more being announced shortly.. 7 total.
I mean... I hadn't upgraded my gpu in 8 years, got a newish one that paid for itself in six months and now I'm ahead.... a great graphics card that lets me play new games. Sounds like a win to me.
I like your style with taking complicated subjects and breaking them down to simple terms...can you do a video on mining with a Raspberry Pi ? Thanks for your videos...the fast pace is great...more information without boring filler-talk! ;)
I guess I lucked out but I scored a November '17 version (19.6GH/s) off ebay ($900 w/PSU) and my profitability into January is averaging 13.50USD day via NiceHash. I believe everything you are saying about profitability, but then I also wonder about how many folks sell theirs after seeing videos like this! Another thing to touch on is that it only mines X11 -- and right now DASH is highly profitable, and many other coins can be mined through that algorithm. It is however very hot and very noisy, but perfect during the winter in my laundry room. Cheers!
If you are from South Africa and plan on purchasing ASIC machines in the future: *If you pay with LTC or BTC, try get the coins well before buying at the lowest possible value as they use current coin values when batch is released *The machines don't ship with power supplies so make sure you check the price of the APW or relevant PSU and have extra coins for that *Shipping is expensive (roughly 10% of total order) and also needs to be paid with coins when placing order *Import tax into South Africa was a little over 10% of total purchase *The machines are too loud to keep inside a house or any location where neighbours aren't at least 30 meters away *Ventilation is a must, which means you need to have a 24/7 opening into your house, in South Africa... I installed a mesh metal box with welded bolts over a small window and ran individual pipes for each machine (don't ignore this, the heat is really crazy) *Main breaker from municipality is usually 63A. Plug breakers inside the house are usually 20A. These machines run 11-15A so you need dedicated breakers if you want to run more than one without strain *Electricity cost where I live is R1,79 per kwh so I am currently making a remarkable R70.00 a month per D3
The ASIC miners are still profitable if you are into mining other ASIC coins as there are Exchanges that allow you to convert your coins into BTC which isn't as easy as it sounds but for some its something worth doing.
yeap hoarding GPUs is the best way to go, I have contacts with local retailers and I'm have program monitoring online stores. So I snatch up GPUs as soon as they are in-stock, I'm not only buying VEGAs and RX 580s, I do 1070s, 1060s and even 1050Ti if I ever end up with too many GPUs I sell them at marks up lol "suck it up gamers" it's free market I do whatever I want right UFD Tech?
The L3+ is still viable. I have a couple of them. and they still give me +- $20 per day per miner. Meaning even if I got a brand new one today, I would still make ROI in 3 months. I get more $ per day for less than what it would cost for a GPU rig (which I have) of the same hashrate. The S9 and L3+ is still worth it in my opinion.
yeah but s9's have been on market for over a year and are stable backed by bitcoin, bch, lots of others unlike dash. bad comparison imo. resale value 3 or 4times good luck getting that with graphics cards lol
I was hoping for a different outcome, always figured that a Antminer will be more profitable in the long run but to no avail, Great video Brett, as always keep it up bra ;)
I was completely surprised by this, I have the Antminer s7 which came out about a year or so ago and making about 7 a day running under clocked. Only paid 300 for it and with my desktop brining in 14 a day. Already paid it off the first month and have had it running for about 5 months now I believe. Using the earnings to upgrade my desktop over time. Was looking at this when it first came out over the Antminer s7 but the price tag was over my budget. But Ill say the price of bitcoin has helped with my mining a bit.
Wish I still could have gotten the L3+ as well. When I got into bitmining I was looking at the Antminer s7, s9, L3+, D3 or Innosilicon ones. Glad I didn't get the D3 but due to Innosilicon requiring bundle purchases only and the other ones being so expensive at the time and the risk I would have taken I went with the Antminer s7 but wish I had taken the risk seeing the prices now.
SOOO Glad I watched this. DEF not buying one now. Add the price of AC if its the summer and with Hydro and the increasing difficulty they will be useless very quickly.
In my opinion there are some other factors to consider and it is not a GIANT WASTE OF MONEY. We need to consider the mindset of the person who is investing, for example I mined with made in China ASIC miners since Oct 2013 when BC was around US$200. They ranged from those thumb drive size ones (5 in one usb 3 hub etc.) to desktop size versions with hundreds of Gigahashes (they were like the ASIC Gods back in those days) My thinking was not for a fast buck, but for the time when BC or the other alternatives reach such a disgustingly high difficulty that only tens if not hundreds of thousands of petahashes or even way above are needed to solve one block chain. It was also for the time fast forward 4 years to 2017 (when I started in 2013) when it hit US$18,000 per BC. Yes BC has dropped below 6000 recently and went back to 8000+. The point is short term ROI may be possible and even making a killing may be possible. BUT the advantage of the BC made from these ASIC miners lies in their value over a longer period of in my guesstimate 5 -10 years or up (give or take). What little coins I have left after my mass sale last year, still values many times over the amount I spent on all those ASIC miners since 2013. It is not what they can make for you now, but what that is made and how much it is worth eventually at some point of time. On the other hand and most likely gonna get flamed for this, I agree with you totally on GPU mining.
ASIC miners start out effectively overclocked. Not that I recommend buying an ASIC miner, but some people undervolt and underclock them to keep them turning a profit. It's all about improving the gigahash per kilowatt hour ratio, until it's favorable. Undervolting is not easy to do, and just underclocking wont reduce power usage much. People that reduced the power draw by 50% have shown less than a 50% reduction in the hashrate, which means the general efficiency of the hashing can be improved up to a point. If the alternative is selling the miner at a loss, then it's not a terrible plan (unless the person modding the miner shorts it out and destroys it). Another use for old ASIC miners is low cost electric space heaters. If you can replace an ordinary space heater with almost any ASIC miner during the winter (and a pool lets you join) you'd get a partial "refund" on the electricity. But, it's a lot of work to set up for this purpose and the default fans are too loud. I was half tempted to buy an old $50 miner just to try this, but winter is almost over (maybe next fall).
Hi , love your videos. Can you comment on all issues with D3 And if you have any fixes. I have several that do not show hash boards or are missing chips. All have the most recent firmware flashed and all connectors have been checked. One doesn't even appear in IP address search anymore. Any help from other viewers and subscribers is also greatly appreciated. Thanks, keep up the excellent work.
UFD Tech The apartment has 12 breakers. So since 2013 I kept buying all the cheap asics and gpus. I look at hash/$ not hash/watts. I made so much buy this way.
+Unflushablepiss I have some s7, s5, bunch of 290s and 290xs, 480s, 470, 280s, 580s, 980 ti, 1070s, 7970s, 7870s, i7 4770k, 6600, ryzen 1700, 9590, 370(a 4gb card that I bought for 40 with a wireless mouse, heatsink, case, and ram), some 1 dollar harddrives mining burst. Also a fury, and this funky litecoin asic miner. I got this apartment I got just has this equipment. I pay 600 dollars a month. And have verizon gigabyte, and renters insurance. This building is huge so they wont find out who it is. All in all if i did this in my apartment I would be paying over 600 dollars for the electric bill alone. So this is so worth it. Also I host other peoples equipment for a 40 dollar flat fee per device. So i got 10 other things in there so making money all day.
Not an ASIC fan but Dash is probably the worst example for mining -- you get less than half (45%) of each block's reward. A better comparison would be SHA-256 or Scrypt ASICs.
I cant even begin to imagine being able to afford getting a decent gaming pc let alone afford to go into mining. Currently have I3, integrated graphics and 4gb of ram which is my laptop and itd be awesome to win that 1070 ti to take a huge price off what i need to get that gaming pc id love to have going
You need to lift some stuff with your left hand as well. Or you're gonna have a hulking right arm vs a lean left one by the time you reach 100K subs. :P
Hi brother, but only statement. I want to know either the state or weather in general about these drives. Is it an advantage of ethereal mining and the best machine wich is better for mining ethereum
I remember telling you back when you like a thousand you'd be at 100K in no time... Now if I take one day to get around to watching the video you pick up another thousand. Hope you're ready for the big time man!
In Jan. 2022 a D3 (19.3 GH/s) is earning about ~ $0.43/Day (Without electricity cost), so it’s not profitable at all, unless if you don’t pay electricity 😎.
Power consumption and the rig what you have to buy to get decent start of all this . Ain't got that money and because of that mining boom most graphic cards were hard to get and the prices 🗿
I know this is 2 years old but I have a question, I am looking at an antminer S or D9 NIB for 60used PSU about 50 USD. with shipping about 120USD . Is it even worth that to get it? I run some gpu mining with an ancient desktop, litecoin, dogecoin, and some bitcoin, mainly just for giggles, but I am a pensioner so very limited income. Ty for your time any opinions would be great.

In my opinion there are some other factors to consider and it is not a GIANT WASTE OF MONEY.

Having a girlfriend doesn't hurt too
Hi brother, but only statement. I want to know either the state or weather in general about these drives. Is it an advantage of ethereal mining and the best machine wich is better for mining ethereum
Peace sound! true spirituality feeling sounds from ur office!

Thanks friend!
And i also agree that it's a waste of money.......TOO DAMN LOUD
I remember telling you back when you like a thousand you'd be at 100K in no time... Now if I take one day to get around to watching the video you pick up another thousand. Hope you're ready for the big time man!
53K noice
Great video can you review usb ASIC miners if not done already
OK! Nice. Might as well work on an air field without ear cups! Although I don't mine, I do find your mining videos very entertaining!
Can a GPU rig be used to render 3d graphics or is it so specialized that it can really only benefit from mining? I'm guessing it can.
Hi Man, i'm from SA too.. Please do a Budget Gaming PC build with parts from SA :)
Nice! I can look into friend!
Exactly, yet we have reliable shops such as Wootware, Evetech with competitive brands as well :)
gpu mining is like $100 per day maximum, what good is that compared to the lifespan of your system being reduced
this person knows his facts. and he just needs to breath more and laugh more too
Ty for your time any opinions would be great.
still mining with my S7, I made $340 this month so far.
What are your thoughts regarding Antminer X3
