Michael Rennie & Laurence Harvey were two *GREAT* actors who deserved MUCH more attention
I likes Michael Rennie a lot. He was so sophisticated.
I remember watching these when I was a kid. It was a good show. Garry Moore had a great morning show during the Golden Age of Television. He was a host/MC for I'VE GOT A SECRET and TO TELL THE TRUTH. He also had one of the great variety shows of the 1960's, and i believe that he discovered Carol Burnett. Michael Rennie was a well known actor of the day, staring in such films as THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL and RIDE BEYOND VENGEANCE, as well as THIRD MAN TV series, and a fine TV version of DOCTOR JEKYL AND MR. HYDE. Thanks for rerunning these.
I love these shows. This episode was shown a day after my dad died of a heart attack on February 4th 1962.
Nice to see a rare appearance by Michael Rennie. It's hard to find interviews with this fantastic actor.
I have never seen an interview with him. Have never even heard his widow or grown children interviewed either.
I’ve spoken to his girlfriend a few years back. A lovely lady who shared with me some stories of him.
He didn't look like he enjoyed that very much, but gotta sell his series !
Who was the girlfriend you spoke to...the long time friend who had a son with him?
It's rare to see Michael Rennie. Strikingly handsome and sophisticated. Absolutely adored him.
Michael is still under appreciated. I’m hoping to rectify that when my biography on him is published by Bear Manor Media next year.
@@lukeforster641 Let me know when it's published, that will be a great read !
@@lukeforster641will that book include a woman named Valerie Vincent who has written stories about her and Michael being lovers when she was 15 and he was 53?
Wow! Michael Rennie! “Klaatu barada nikto”
and another Wow! Bill Cullen did it!!
that guy is an incredible pool player!!!
Good clean fun! Keep 'em coming. thanks!!!
+Michael Maloney I respectfully disagree about the fun part because I found this game show very dull. I think too many Martini-drinkin' producers tried to hitch their wagon to the very successful show What's My Line and pretended there was an element of difference :)
Eventually the same team for the most part produced both parts. Certainly I prefer WML, but I get a kick out of IGAS too. Different strokes....
Life was at a different pace back in those days. I think we were a little easier to please back in those days. Remember we still seeing the world in black-and-white and the TV would come to a close around midnight -- blank screen until 7 am. We only had four channels in San Francisco. It was just a different world back then.
Sort of interesting bit of trivia: Bill Cullen suffered from polio as a child and was in a serious auto accident in the 1930s. The combination made it very difficult for him to walk smoothly-which is why on all the clips available of him, you almost never see him walk more than a step or two at most.
almostfm interesting, thanks!
It’s pretty amazing that he had the career he did considering g the times. Bravo !
@@marycleary7810 What do you mean by that? People that survived polio, and with a challenging gait, were more the norm then today. 🧐
I will always think of Sir Michael Rennie as "Klaatu" because that was his "breakout" role.
He also played an invader on "The Invaders."
His appearancein The Invaders, in particular the episode “The Innocent,” is first rate. His performance is mesmerising in that one.
I know it was kind of a silly show, but I always liked his turn as the villain The Sandman in the Adam West Batman TV show.
Ah..., Truly a master of wit, charm, a very intelligent actor way ahead of his time. He was an incredulous wonder to behold. He passed away far to soon for many of his devoted fans. He was a very like-able astute charming man. I especially admired him as 'The Keeper' on the old 'Lost in Space' T.V. series of the mid 1960's. He played his parts acceptionally well. RMA; Bakersfield, CA....
I’m currently researching and writing a biography on Michael Rennie. So far research has unearthed a lot of previously unknown information. Ive also been lucky enough to talk to one of his co-stars.
@@lukeforster641 where can I find it when you're done?
My dad purchased Willie Mosconi’s books back in the 60’s. My dad was pretty good. I’m sure he saw this.
Betsy Palmer was a first rate actress in such films as THE TIN STAR and THE LONG GRAY LINE.
I always enjoy an episode of I've Got a Secret, especially from the 1961-62 season. This season was always weird to me, mainly because they used that upbeat rendition of the theme from "A Summer Place" for that season only. I always wondered why? It was actually pretty good.
20:48, Michael Rennie was a classy guy!
I love it and playing pool too
A cig on stage,wow...Bess Myerson,what a dish...
dish - haven’t heard that in centuries LOL :)
My grandfathers uncle, one of my favorite time periods and get to see someone I’m related to live through it
Super! Im looking for the Feb. 19th, 1962 episode if you can find it. My Dad is on that one!
How interesting to learn that Sgt. York did actually gobble to get the Germans to raise their heads up.
Well, it's not a Secret as it was in a bio of Barbara Hutton but Mr Rennie is noted in her diary as coming out of the bathroom "dressed in a rubber suit with a whip in one hand & a jar of vaseline in the other." Fancy stuff for a Yorkshireman!
And to think... by that time, he had only 9 years left to live
I know tragic. June 1971. The house in Harrogate where he died is still there.
DakariKingMykan that's sad.
Sergeant Alvin C.York!!
They should’ve arranged for contestants to shake hands with the panelists like they ultimately did on What’s My Line.
They do meet after the show.
Was Michael Rennie filming his tv series “The Third Man” here in The U.S.A. OR over in England, OR both country’s?
Just think every single person on this stage is now dead.
yep and so will you and i soon
Considering Bill had had polio, that was a good shot
Well Michael Rennie was classically handsome
Seeing the host smoking during the programme is amazing. Wouldnt see that now
Who?
Gotta get my hands on them pills
Everybody sitting around smoking
Gary Moore was talking WAY too much during that professional pool player’s demonstration.
