The boys are back , Steelers on tv tomorrow, and all is well in life again LFG!! Would like to add it is 100% Super Bowl or bust we are all in this year fellas going to be steeler football again and boy am I excited!!
One key guy you guys forgot to mention is Cameron Johnson. I know he's a punter but feild position is everything! No more Pressley Harvin shanks!! Great job boys!
FWIW, I've followed Justin's career extensively. He's currently playing betted at camp with and against the Steelers than he ever did with the Bears and their defense most of his tenure was in a rebuild. Fields has a few core problems, at least had with the bears. His footwork was way too slow and regressing. Like jarringly bad to *anyone* that saw it (this is now fixed) He needs confidence. He's a bit of a flow guy. Thats why he was so great in the back half of 22 (he was electric for most of the back half of that season), he was literally on the NFL top 100 going into last year bc of it and his mechanics went *wild*. Supposedly, raiders QBs are having similar issues as justin was in regarding to pulling the trigger. Now. They also suck but, more importantly, fields is the type of guys that needs to be told to do *more* not do less. Hes at his best when he feels like hes the best player on the field. The bears coaching staff hyperfocused on turnovers and it not only made it hard to pull the trigger, but he *never* threw with anticipation. Now, few things. 1. Justin Fields runs horrible when he tries. He basically never does throw with notable anticipation, but 3 separate times where he has his WR break off the route and its an easy pick. I dont think thats helped his willingness to do it. 2. To encourage this, you actually need to stop being so focused onthe mistakes and get a feel for it. He also i think overprocesses, where his eyes can be too fast for the play but i think that the entire offensive stucture of the Bears playbook had no understanding of reads, timing, ect. I think a lot ofbthis could be cleaned up in a more rigid offensive system at the snap (like route depth combination, timing up the read to the throwing window on a given route vs a coverage, ect) I think a lot of these issues are very managable if you get the right guy to help. Hard to know how much the steelers and justim have been working on these things, but i dont think people really understand that most of Fields issues are things that really shouldnt be eternal if hes working with the right people
@kevinadams7498 no problem! I guess I'd say that we have to wait and see, but I think everyone needs to open their mind a little on the ceiling of Fields. I really believe the offensive structure in Chicago and now in Vegas is ametuer hour and it just murdered fields over time. For example, plays are generally designed with like some sort of tempo/rhythm, right? Like let's say 5 step drop, back foot, 1st read, reset 2nd read ect. So, I would suggest that the best system in the NFL is the shanahan tree. That tree is *all* about timing. (No, getsy didn't ever come from that tree, even though he worked under lafluer.) In the perfect world, you design a play or combination of routes so that when you get to your second read, he's in an optimal throwing window and so on. Right? So wheen the QB hits his back foot, he looks at his 1st read. If they're at all open, the QBs in this system know to *instantly* throw it. As they hit their back foot. Not a coincidence they all throw with great anticipation, because it's a design mechanism of the offense. Well, fields basically never had that rhythm after his first read and he did in college imo, although that set up is also very different and can be both QB friendly and not so QB friendly, I do not think that this timing/decision making issue is like something inherent in him, but was a result of the offensive system he played in basically not considering it at all. Now, I think if you just *watch* the tape, you will immediately see how shockingly bad that offense was coached, 100% guarantee, you will not find more like complete *nonsense* happening in any unit in football last year. Was a joke But, to further drive this home, okay, so one of the changes justin has made is returning his foot to his natural stance. Now, why he switch in the first place? Because Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers thought it helped with quick game stuff and getsy coached Rodgers. He was clearly uncomfortable in it and it led to a ton of other footwork issues. Now, midway point in the season last year, this had become a topic of discussion, so he's asked about it. Getsy told the reporter that any of the QBs can use whichever set up they'd like... and that the backup didn't because he didn't like it. The issue with this answer is basically, it implies that you do not consider QB footwork as part of your offensive design *at all* going from 2 4 6 step to 3 5 7 step drops. The entire tempo of the play/offense if Justin switched his feet next week, but the coach said he can... Well, then the coach doesn't care about the timing...
Russel Wilson is a HAS BEEN. Just ask Seattle and Denver!! Justin Fields will be in due to a Russel Wilson injury (and poor play) by/during week 3. Fields will explode, taking the Steelers to the playoffs and answering next years quarterback question this year.
People sleeping on Calvin Austin which is crazy CA3 will have monster year this year when Wilson gets him the ball down field. CA3 hasn’t had QB that can get him the ball etc.
It’s no secret when Steelers wins ganes it comes from the run game, if u forgot go back and watch when Steelers won it came from run game . The Steelers worked the clock with run game, gave defense a rest and then defense wins it at end of game. When Steelers are passing all game going 3 and out in under 2 min u can’t wjn ganes like that at all. Real fans knows Steelers have to run the dam ball
I’m sick of the aiyuk story I think the players we do have we need to just move on. Play with the players we got. WE ARE NOT GETTING AIUYUK SO JUST MOVE ON
Why does everyone want Aijuk for , the Steelers can’t afford him especially if they want a decent Quarterback next year . If Steelers want to bank on drafting rookie quarterback in draft then go for it. But they can’t afford Najee, Pickens, etc . They definitely don’t need him
Steelers were 10-7 with the majority of the season with a back up QB and a decimated Middle LB core and a mediocre offensive line. They have repaired the ILB and both Queen and Peyton Wilson will dominate. The secondary is better. The O Line is much better and no matter how much you hate on Russ and Fields they are still better than what we had last year. So if you think the Steelers are going 9-8 you’re just a hater!
I like wilson but fields is just bad, it's all up to the OC & HC to guide this team, I'm not saying it's a superbowl team but a playoff win will he progress because the playoff drought is too long now
@@turokl713 how ? The Steelers would be getting back an all pro WR 🤷🏾♂️. Cant expect to get a receiver the caliber of Ayuik without giving the Niners back a WR. Gotta be realistic
I think they’re a useful tool through training camp. The Steelers are pretty good about following their depth charts for the most part. It’s early get upset about them though.
Glad the boys are back

Nice takes Liberal of the year Jerry
Great episode guys
If I'm Omar, I'm giving up a 2nd Round pick with Van Jefferson or CAIII
One of the main reasons Ayuk wants to come to Pittsburgh IS Tomlin.
Steel the Best Kevin and Jerry!!!
I don’t think Niners trade him unless they get better. I don’t see it happening

What are the odds that we land BA ? Hopefully something happens before Monday! I can see us getting 12-13 wins if everyone stays healthy.

Russ and Fields stink. You could trade for Calvin Johnson in his prime and the Steelers are still going 9-8.
Steelers were 10-7 with the majority of the season with a back up QB and a decimated Middle LB core and a mediocre offensive line. They have repaired the ILB and both Queen and Peyton Wilson will dominate. The secondary is better. I forsee russ holding the ball to long, getting sacked, and throwing shit tier picks. And not getting the ball to the talent
I hope not but he does take a ton of sacks. So it’s possible.
@@kevinadams2686 I hope not to buddy. Love the podcast
Pickens & a 2nd for BA sounds like a good deal. Anything other than that no way Ayuik goes to the steelers
Trading George Pickens for ayuik is a horrible move

Bad take man. We want to pair him with Pickens not get rid of Pickens
