I love Alberta oil and Gas! Our oil and gas are one of the main economic engines of the Canadian economy. The dollars generated from Alberta oil and gas have made many wonderful things possible in our country, and around the world. In tje dead od winter there is no alternative to oil and gas, wind and sunshine won't cut it in January or February when it may be -40°C, or Fahrenheit. I've lived in southern Alberta over 50 years, I know. We also embrace alternatives, we have one of the highest hours of sunshine in Canada, the wind does blow most days and we have the energy of youth. Alberta is Energy! Embrace it.

I lived in Calgary from 1994 to 2000.
You forgot to mention one of the most important climate related drawbacks to living in Calgary: the air is extremely dry, especially in the wintertime. Consequently, unless you want to experience constant headaches and nose bleeds and don't mind getting electrocuted every time you touch anything made of metal, then a good humidifier in your house or apartment is an absolute necessity.

And HARD water. Put in hard water in a humidifier and enjoy chlorine powder in your home.

Forgot to mention the never ending road construction at the expense of the existing roads and infrastructure!
