My first taste of Jamaican food was in Tampa FL at a Mom and Pop restaurant called Irie Bay near the place where I went to Collage. I was in heaven when I had my first taste of Jerk Chicken with Rice and Peas, and Plantains with a Ting Grapefruit Soda. As well I also miss the Jamaican Spicy Beef Patties with Coco Bread!!!! Even though I'm not Jamaican as I'm Filipino and Scottish my Jamaican friends tell me I must have been Jamaican in my past life the way I love the food and never get tired of it!!! LOL!!!
For me, ackee and saltfish is #1 and curried goat using local mutton is #2. However, Jamaica has such a wide variety of sumptuous mouth-watering dishes that it is difficult to come up with a top 10 list.
That parrot fish is the truth, Ate it all the time on Guam theres nothing like Fresh island foods anywhere hands down.. where's that coconut crab and bread fruit. LOVE THE VIDEO

The video isnt about origin, its about common foods eaten in JA. XD we would be here all day sorting out what comes from where if that was the case. :-)
I've never had a bad meal in Jamaica or one that wasn't fresh. I had a street vendors tofu that was the best I've ever had anywhere. It tasted exactly like chicken. I prefer the vegan food, I love goats too much :) I miss Sorel so so much

Fun fact: Don't cook ackee and saltfish with tomatoes it will go bad easily but if you like it that way or grew cooking it that way that's your decision😁

Grilling salty or acidic seasoned food in aluminium is very unhealthy. Small parts from aluminium get dissolved by this way...its still better than if the fat is dropping on the heating coal (cancerous substances) But if u have a way to bypass the two options, do it :) Jerk chicken, callalou and ackee were my favourite food in jamaica
