      If they aren't use to it, it may take a couple days. You can limit treats and extras in the meantime to encourage them to eat it. I also recommend making batches with other fruits and vegetables as well--sometimes there are specific fruits or veggies they aren't a fan of.

    I see sites say carrots, berries, kale, etc aren’t good. Others say it’s ok. I’m so confused. 😭

    • @ColoradoSugarGliders
      @ColoradoSugarGliders  Год назад

      I totally understand. Diet can be so confusing. Carrots, berries and kale are just fine. The key with TPG is to have a lot of variety and rotate your fruits, vegetables and proteins. Diets like BML are very strict with the fruits and vegetables you can use. Some diets advise against dark leafy greens such as kale because sugar gliders can't digest all the fibers in it. However, sugar gliders will chew the nutrients out of them then spit out the parts they can't digest, so they are fine to give. Here is a safe fruits and veggies list by the pet glider: www.thepetglider.com/blogs/suggie-info-posts/safe-fruits-vegetables?psafe_param=1&gad=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwo9unBhBTEiwAipC1139j0Kus_lt4JqK1xl8MFAzpOr0QJeBYRYEPuiV6pt45LzWXkPeILRoCUvkQAvD_BwE

    Yes I have a question for you I use the Ledbetter BML I think it’s called diet can I make the TPG and then make a batch of the Ledbetter an alternate with the with the different flavors like one day give them one and then the other day or give them a week of of the TPG and then give them the BLM food that I’m not new well I’m kind of new I have just one glider I lost my my female I’m looking for another glider if you know of anybody that does wants to rehome at all give a rehoming fee but I don’t buy gliders right now they’re expensive I always save my money for their food and four if they need to go to them if he needs to go to the vet he’s been neutered I got him through a vet and they got a little girl in the little boy through a vet so we just dump them in so they were both free free is fun I don’t believe in buying animals I rescue them so if you know of anybody that needs a glider rescue I’m available and I know that they can’t be in the same cage for a while so I do have two cages I have a traveling cage which is quite large and then I have a regular cage so I liked your your video was very informative and I’ll be watching you again and I will subscribe to you thank you😜

    • @ColoradoSugarGliders
      @ColoradoSugarGliders  2 года назад

      Hello. Thanks for watching. I would not rotate between bml and tpg. I think that would be hard on their systems. Plus they require different vitamins. Either diet is good though.

  • @Killjoy2140
    @Killjoy2140 5 месяцев назад

    When you say defeost the food. U completely thaw it or put in microwave to defrost it partially? Also do you only feed them 1 cube each glider or 1 cube per 2 gliders

    • @ColoradoSugarGliders
      @ColoradoSugarGliders  5 месяцев назад

      @Killjoy2140 I usually just let it sit out for a few minutes and it thaws. I cube each glider depending on the size of the cube.

      Just give it some time. I recommend giving it treats through the cage bars to build trust. Another great way to bond is to get a zipup Mosquito net tent and take him out in there and let him crawl on you. You can also carry his pouch around while he is sleeping to help bond and get him used to your smell. Does he have a sugar glider buddy? They are very social and will so much better with another sugar glider. Good luck. Remember every positive time you spend with them will increase their friendliness and trust.

    • @kellyporter4527

      Get a bonding pouch . u wear it around ur neck or a bra pouch thats in ur shirt between ur boobs.lol and jus carry the glider around . it helps to bond. Put a peace of cooked chicken or a. Frozen yogart bit in the bonding pouch. & zip it up & carry the glider in that during the day.

    I am just so confused as far as the diet because I have been reading and reading and researching and reading and watching videos and everybody gives conflicting information. I hear that you can't give them brussel sprouts or you can't give them certain kinds of greens and then I hear that they can't have grapes and corn but then these things are all part of the TPG diet. What do I listen to? How do I know what's right? Then I heard not to give the vitamin that's in the bml diet. I wanted to do the bml diet and not the one with the kibble...

    • @ColoradoSugarGliders
      @ColoradoSugarGliders  2 года назад

      The bml diet is very strict. If you are using that then you need to follow their guidelines for fruits and veggies and use their vitamins. If you are using tpg then you can use any of the fruits and veggies they allow which is a lot more. They also have their own vitamin you need to use.
      So you need to just follow the guidelines of the diet you wish to use. They all have different vitamins and ingredients.
      Any of the staple diets are fine, just pick one that you think looks manageable to you and follow it's guidelines. Good luck.

      @@kellyporter4527 we give our babies some kibble and monkey biscuits that are great for dental health. I do definitely agree that a soft diet without anything crunch for their teeth can lead to tooth decay.

      Kibbles is not good! Monkey biscuits are great.😁

    • @ColoradoSugarGliders
      @ColoradoSugarGliders  3 года назад

      @@kellyporter4527 I agree that kibble on its own is not good. It does not have enough nutrition to be used exclusively. What I'm referring to is using a small amount (1/2 tsp-1tsp daily) as a supplement if they eat all their tpg and to use for dental health. That is healthy and recommended.

    I don’t understand why they need these special vitamins like the powder you said to use if when they’re in the wild they just eat whatever they find such as bugs or fruit. Why do we have to make such a complex meal? Genuinely wondering .

    • @ColoradoSugarGliders
      @ColoradoSugarGliders  3 года назад +3

      Hello. Thanks for watching. They need vitamins because we can never completely replicate nature's diet. In the wild they eat more than bugs and fruit--they eat a lot of tree saps and gums, pollen and nectar that we just aren't able to provide them here. Nature's diets are perfectly balanced--it is difficult to replicate that. You will find that any good sugar glider diet requires vitamins. One of the primary health issues seen in domesticated sugar gliders is calcium deficiency which can lead to hind leg paralysis and ultimately death. As their owners, it's our job to help them live as healthy as possible.

    • @pablocalvillo8921
      @pablocalvillo8921 Год назад

      It you can buy pollen and honey/sap in food section at most grocery stores…. I’ve never had unhealthy or anything wrong with any of my 8 gliders so I disagree. They also have never got any sickness so yeah

    Is there any alternative for the Greek yogurt?

    • @ColoradoSugarGliders
      @ColoradoSugarGliders  3 года назад

      To be honest I'm not sure. I know the diet is very well researched and balanced, so deviating from it can cause issues. To know for sure though, you would have to reach out to the people at The Pet Glider. There are also other diets that have been well researched and are good for suggies, such as BML. They may not use yogurt.

    A bit over the top me thinks, give them what they eat in there natural habitat, but i do understand you trying to be there mum.

    • @ColoradoSugarGliders
      @ColoradoSugarGliders  8 месяцев назад

      Unfortunately we cannot give them what they eat in the wild--they eat a large assortment of things not readily available. That is why these diets were created. Sugar gliders have very complex dietary needs. One of the leading causes of illness and death in sugar gliders is poor diet.
