What an incredible trilogy! Truly one of the best series of episodes we've ever experienced. As always, a huge thank you to each and every one of you for your amazing support. The love you show with every video is honestly unreal, and we’re beyond grateful. Just wanted to take a moment to thank you all again, and we’re excited for what’s to come in the future!
When watching this video I realized that S4 gives so much depth to this story. I honestly can’t wait until you guys react to S4, it will change your perspective of this show completely
But i think Levi try as hard to keep emotion out compare to eren 😅 coz in real if people have to choose to revive Commander or scouts its logically commander right?
disagree! Choosing a commander makes more sense and doesnt require any emotional reasoning. Its just the right thing to do if its possible. Erens using emotion to demand Armin chosen without using logic. Though i think Armin is the logical choice anyway. From a military POV the commander is logical not an emotional choice.
I don't think that. Levi he don't use he emotion. because for humility (Me too, I'm not erwin or armin my fav character) Erwin is best choice. A besic logic. Armin i think everyone binding him more because he friend Eren (main character). Levi punch Eren because Eren can't control he emotion. Levi stop Mikasa because she will hurt other. I think Levi has good control he emotional. Don't use personal emotional. Levi see who is most beneficial to humanity just that it. But in the end, he decided to let Erwin rest.
Levi made an emotional decision. He says it himself, you have to read between the lines. "He had no choice to become a devil..... when he had finally been set free from hell"
@kira3035 I'm try to say is he don't use he feeling for selfish purposes. Like let Erwin survive because he friend with me. it as a decision Erwin give to him and in the end it was a selfless sentiment. that it all.
Isayama (the writer of Attack on Titan) said in an interview: 'People tend to say, "True happiness is when you don't fulfill your dream." This indicates that for a person, "continuing the pursuit of a dream even during the last seconds" is the best kind of life. I kept thinking about this notion as I drew Erwin's final moments." This combined with Kenny's quote "Everyone has to be drunk on something" tells us why Erwin died and not Armin. Erwin's dream was to find out what's in the basement, that's what he's "drunk on". What happens after he gets there? His dream is gone, fulfilled. Nothing to be "drunk on" anymore, nothing to drive him. Armin's dream, however, is driven by curiosity. Even after he finds the sea, he'll still be curious about other things. He'll still be "drunk on his curiosity and he'll keep driving forward, where Erwin may have lost his motivation. The adage which Isayama describes is the final part of Levi's decision. Erwin's entire life was driven by his dream. He died fighting for it. Bringing him back would enter him into the same hell, but without a dream to fight for. Hence why it was time to finally let him rest.
Nah I disagree cuz he's the Commander. War is going. Erwin definitely would end the war by taking Marley. Armin is the boy with potential but cmon they needed war hero, leader with mindset. Erwin would avenge for his slain comrades
@@thefalcon2267 i get you, choosing erwin is a logical choice no doubt. However, to levi, erwin was not only a commander but also a dear friend. i believe thats why levi decided to be merciful and selfish and let erwin rest
This is like one of the most tense episode in the whole show. No sountrack, no music, just voices and silence... it was executed so beautifully. Another underrated moment is when Eren recognizes that he was only motivated by avenging his mother and hating the titans...
@@thaonguyennguyenle8729 Little spoiler...... yea, I dont think we saw bertholt family. But I do remember someone jumping off a house, that might have been someone related to him.
I just now surely know that I really subscribed to the one of the best reaction channels. Thank you for dropping these eps all at once!!! and kudos to Rowan and Rivas for believing in Armin, its truly devastating to choose between the two and you really nailed it with “my head chooses Erwin but my heart chooses Armin” thats the best quote for this ep!!! - After telling Connie and Sasha to stop hesitating and crying over Reiner, it was Jean that decided to save him and used the syringe as an excuse - This is the first time it got revealed to us what was the question Erwin asked his father in the classroom - Levi’s decision of choosing Armin is very complex that includes a lot of feelings regarding both Armin and Erwin that i don’t have a full grasp on to discuss
@@yobama9880 I think Armin is also the closest in character and dreams to Isabel and Furlan...maybe it was at least a small part of what made him take that decision He himself is kind of a mix of Mikasa and Eren but his friends were the ones who kept dreaming of a better life on the surface, they were aiming for the sky, not the sea, but their genuine enthusiasm and never ending hope definitely sustained Levi in that hopeless life in the underground city Hange is like that too actually ....they have that light and drive to achieve greater things and never be discouraged
“No regrets.” I agree with Rivas here in that in actuality Levi’s choice was selfless. I won’t say anymore for fear of spoilers. I love how they show Kenny’s pessimistic view of people’s choices in life, that we are all a slave to something and that’s what moves us forward. And right after that image of dying Kenny they show bright eyed, excited Armin “But there’s more to that.” Armin, though young, knew what was important in life. I think it’s great that Biraj is wanting Erwin to live, because he’s the one to foreshadow Armin and Colossal Titan 😂 RIP Erwin, Moblit, Marlo…
I love how u guys can aknowledge that there is a rational choice and there is a choice that we the viewers might prefer that goes against the rational one... the rational choice is made when we try to immerse ourselves in the show as if it is real life, and the choice that comes with the hearts is us aknowledging that we are watching a fictional story and we have preferences...
After seeing his back story, I feel so bad for Captain Levi. His first friends died, his mom is dead, his uncle, his entire squad, and he's just had to watch all of them die every. Single. Time.
You guys watched OVA "No regrets". Levi had so much respect for Erwin. And Levi was the only one Erwin ever confessed his regrets he had, which the last episode showed before the charge. Erwin truly is the leader that no one can replace. Levi didn't compare which one had a bigger dream between Erwin and Armin. Just like he said, Levi chose to let Erwin rest in peace. You guys are so observant that you are good at connecting foreshadowing. I really enjoy your reactions. Looking forward to your next videos.
Levi absolutely compared their dreams: they don't show Kenny's quote and then their respective dreams for no reason. HOWEVER, it's 100000% the case that that wasn't the only thing Levi considered. There were several huge factors in Levi's choice.
opened youtube just to do an early check on your uploads today but you guys beat me to it?!!! (and OMG 16-17-18 IN ONE GO THIS IS PROOF RIGHT HERE WHY YOU GUYS ARE MY #1 REACTORS ON HERE😭❤️🔥 THANK YOU A MILLION TIMES!!!)
Honestly, Armin saw the sea shortly after so not that much longer to fulfill his dream than Ervin :P but the sea wasn't the only thing Armin wanted to see, his dream is broader.
The decision is so well physically represented, too: Erwin wants to go down into the dark, damp hole in the ground. He's ashamed to admit it to Levi. Even as he's dying, his head is in the past, racked with guilt for asking the question that got his father-and eventually so many of his comrades-killed. Armin wants to go forward, out, **past** the walls and into the huge world outside of them. He tells his friends this with wonder and joy in his voice. When he is dying, he isn't thinking about how he was tempted to abandon the mission and seek out his own dream-HE chose to fully entrust it to Eren. The choice is just so obvious from a storytelling and literary perspective! It's crazy to me that so many people even think it's a real debate.
And they think erwin did a lot of things when all he did was to kill his comrades because of his suicidal plans. Leading the titans during the attempt on retrieving armin and now the suicide charge. Armin manages to think of a plan that actually worked without sacrificing other people. They just think erwin was cool because of his speeches, i would rather follow armin who cares for humanity and follow his effective plans than erwin who gives great speeches that would kill me anyways. That speech doesn't matter to me if i am in that situation. I would rather abandon his plan and run in the side of the wall and take my chance on surviving than follow that shitty idea erwin got.
@@qyn69Erwin as a character is certainly the most charismatic. His speeches push people to feats. But is it good or bad? A person's critical thinking turns off when he is infected with the emotions of the crowd, throws aside common sense and rushes to commit rash acts. And for what? Note, not for the good of humanity, but to achieve OWN goals, as many politicians and rulers do, covering up their true goal with loud slogans. People like Erwin are certainly good in war conditions, so as not to let fear take over the soldier's thoughts, well, and at the same time, remove all other emotions. But in peacetime, a person is needed who will make others think for themselves. I want to add that the meaning of life for Eren would end in that very basement, because his goal is not to gain new knowledge, but ONLY to prove his father's theory.
For me the choice was Armin. Erwin has always made his strategies around sacrificing his soldiers. 3 seasons and every plan sacrificed portions of the survey corp. Armin would sacrifice himself for the cause and willingly give up his dream. Erwin had to have Levi make the choice for him because he wanted to reach the basement.
@@lvcrmamil if levi had given opposite answer he would have done that that erwins face saying thank you is basically him saying 'thank you levi for not turning me into a bad guy , thank you for keeping me sane' and because of levi's response erwin became the TRUE leader that survey corps leader is known for
Erwin said himself that getting to the truth is more important than saving humanity. Levi remembered than once this happens with visiting the basement, Erwin will no longer serve humanity as well as he did beforehand. Armin has a hunger for freedom that will continue until humanity is saved.
You have to also factor in how Armin’s death would have affected Eren. Like Eren said, all his thoughts are just filled with hate and Armin’s dream is one of his only bright lights besides Mikasa.
Everytime I watch this episode, Erwin's words about Armin come to my mind, "He's one of our greatest weapons", that's how I know Levi made the right decision but of course I get what Biraj says. Also Rowan coming for Floch is so funny, that was also my reaction the first time I saw these episodes lmao
01:46 i was intently looking at Zeke when he uttered those and when my eyes shifted to Rowan lmao!!! 😂😂😂 👀👀 Many argued about Erwin rejecting the serum was intentional but in my opinion i think he’s really just hallucinating in the last moments of his life and is already unconscious. But for Levi, it’s kind of a “sign” for him to give up Erwin since he let his emotions take over for a moment there.
Kenny speech was an important factor as to why Levi chose Armin over Erwin.. What is it that pushes both of them and in the end, whose goals would get them further the writing of this show is incredible
You gotta also remember that Erwin was and will always be ready to sacrifice anyone to move forward. Erwin killed everybody along with him while Armin sacrificed his own life alone. He will always try to save as much people as possible compared to Erwin. E.g The Trost Battle. His plan ensured that a lot of the military were secured on top of the wall as decoys to avoid casualties.
6:17 I remember in this episode, I was very sad about Armin's death and I cried too. But when I saw Erwin I immediately chose him❤😭 and sold Armin for Erwin😂😭😭😭MY BIG BOY ERWIN ❤❤❤❤
How I like to think about it is that Armin had the drive to look beyond the confirmation of the truth (for Erwin, the confirmation of humanity outside of the walls). Some people suggest that had Erwin seen the basement, he wouldn't have had the mental fortitude to continue leading. It's just as Erwin said, there were many times that he himself thought it easier to die, but every time, it was the flash of his father's theory that pushed him onwards. After he loses that drive, it's debatable whether he would have been as strong a leader as he had been during this battle.
When you think of it, its actualyl understandable the disagreement between Eren and Levi. Aside from the fact that they are both attached to Armin and Erwin respectively, they also had completely separate experience a few moments ago and neither knew how heroic the two of them were. Eren also did the viewers dirty by mentioning Armin's accomplishment like discovering Annie's identity etc, but we didn't get Erwin's accomplishments like the flare system for recons, I'm sure there are plenty we didnt know prior to the story.
Erwin is my favorite character in this show. And I always felt like characters like Erwin, Armin, Hange and Levi were the only truly unreplaceble characters in the show. Which just makes this episode harder. My opinion is that there is no wrong choice. Either Erwin or Armin is the right choice. I personally wanted Erwin to live the most, but Levi's reasonings to let Erwin rest made it alot easier for me to accept that Armin would be the one to live, instead of Erwin
It amazes how a person's dream(armin's dream) can affect everyone's decision about this dilemma where the more obvious choice is Erwin. Maybe because at a certain point in our life we have a dream and as we got older we lost it along the way, people like Armin who kept his dream are rare people nowadays.
I'm going to be an arsehole now and refer you back to A Choice with No Regrets when Levi thought of Erwin: "I'll be the one to kill him". ...and, you see where I'm going with this, right? 😭💀
Armin truly represents the future and hope IMO 12:04 Conny saying "See you later" is almost like he's saying "We're all gonna die there's no hope anymore" and I believe Eren Mikasa Sasha and Jean would feel the same if they had to keep going without Armin.... Erwin would lead the Scouts well but a future without Armin just feels empty and hopeless... and also at that point they're close to the basement with no idea of how things will turn out and who will be more useful to humanity after the truth is unveiled... I think Erwin had his time and did exceptionally well with the means he had at his disposition but the people of the Walls need Armin even if they're not aware of it at this point of the story but the people who know Armin can feel it already, how important he is
Btw, the choice between Armin and Erwin is not only about who's younger and has more to live, or who fulfilled his dreams or not. The thing is, probably the only reason why Erwin was moving forward is his desire to know if there is humanity outside the walls. And when Eren joined the story as a soldier, Erwin got even more intentions to find the truth because he got information about the basement. And, what's more important, he didn't know what he'll do once he learned the truth. He just wanted to know it. And before they went to retake the wall(a few episodes ago) Levi even asked Erwin if knowing the truth is more important to him than humanity's win, and Erwin said yes. I would say more this, but don't wanna put spoilers about season 4. But I can say about Armin. Yes, he didn't plan to fight titans in the first place, but after Eren inspired him, after everything they went through, we can definitely say that Armin is fighting for humanity's win. AND, while doing it he also dreams about getting to the outside world, to the sea, etc. So it's not like he just wanna get to the sea and then his all goals are fulfilled and he would just stop. He's still fighting for the humidity. Erwin was doing the same, true, but he was mostly doing this just because through doing this he would learn the truth. If I'm not wrong Erwin even said something like this himself. Also, Erwin already gave up on his dream and life when Levi told him about abandoning everything. He accepted his fate yk. And Armin did the same, because he also sacrificed himself knowing that it will help humanity to defeat the Collosal Titan. He also gave up on his dream. And this is exactly why this decision was so difficult. And there's no right choice anyway. We don't know who would've been better for the humanity. Both of them are great minds, both did a lot for people and humanity, both are precious. But Levi made his choice. And, who already has seen the entire show probably will understand what I'm talking about - Tbh, I don't think Erwin would be as good as Armin was(in season 4). Anyway, all this yapping is only my opinion and perspective on the things, so... Yeah. Oh, and yes, this entire show is all about - There are no completely "right" or "wrong" actions, decisions, things. As well as there are no completely "good" and completely "bad" people.
You have it backwards. Erwin was the selfish choice. Erwin only cared about fulfilling his dream about finding the truth out for his father. He didn't care how many lives it would cost or about saving humanity. He used saving humanity as a cover up to disguise his true reason. That's why they said he was the devil. That's why Erwin said he felt guilt about lying to everyone through his inspiring speeches to have people enlist or do his bidding. That's why he said he was standing on a pile of his fallen comrades corpses. Erwin was actually selfish, not selfless. The selfless one with a pure heart and pure intentions was Armin. He had a dream of seeing the ocean, but he chose to give up on his dream and sacrifice his life to save the ones he loved and save humanity. He had pure intentions. That's why Eren said that. He would always do what's best for others, not for himself, unlike Erwin. Erwin didn't want to give up and sacrifice himself which is why he waited for Levi to give him permission to give up his dream and die. Armin did it willingly without a second thought. Armin was the true hero and is the one who will always put humanity's best interests first.
Bertholdt being eaten by a titan and calling out to his “friends” is direct callback to Marco being eaten by a titan and calling out to his “friends” (Reiner, Bertholdt, and Annie)
You don’t notice the first time watching, but we already knew Levi picked Armin before the episode even started. Why? Because Armin is the one narrating the story
03:19 We see Hange being unlike her usual self. She is a scientist. She wants to find out the truth and yet she’s willing to kill Reiner right there. Jean said “This isn’t like you. Hange.” And later we found out Moblit just sacrificed his life to save Hange. This is probably why she wasn’t being her usual self. She is a human after all.
6:17 Thank you , I agree with you and until now I still choose Erwin, even though I love Armin , but I cannot give up Erwin 😭😭😭❤🔥Erwin is an irreplaceable leader.
Erwin only led troops to death, while Armin came up with plans that didnt get everyone killed. Erwins goal/dream ends at the basement, while Armins goal/dream goes beyond the walls to the ocean
Bertholdt died the same way as Marco. In his last moments, as he desperately called out the name of his loved ones, he looked like an ordinary boy, not a brave warrior. Reiner tried to fulfill his promise to Ymir before he died. I can't hate even the antagonistic characters, so I feel complicated every time. Floch is annoying, but I can sympathize with his guilt and sense of duty as the only survivor.
Ultimately, I think Armin’s dream is rooted in the appreciation of reality, but Erwin’s dream is rooted in facts ABOUT reality… in that way, I think Armin is the only one who’s a “slave” to reality, whereas Erwin has more-or-less a childhood vision that he can’t let go of that enslaves him. An authentic, courageous death was the best way for Erwin to realize his dream without enslaving himself to his father’s memory. Maybe something else was going through Levi’s mind when he made his mind up- but if you think it was something else, then feel free to change my mind
just because kenny says 'everyone is slave' it doesnt mean everyone is actually because when we are shown kenny's dying face we are quickly shown armins bright eye saying 'BUT THERES MORE TO THAT'
@ Precisely- by the end of the story, I think Armin is truly the “free-est” of all, because he’s capable and willing to take reality at face-value every step of the way. Even at the point of irreconcilable differences with Eren, to the degree that they’re in a fight to the death, he still finds a way to accept him for what and who he is. Just… cinema
@@shanecarter6902 Eren is the protagonist but armin is actually the character we see the story through or I should rather say.... Understand the story and most importantly our complicated and complex protagonist. Eren and armin's dynamic is thematically the most important in the story. Cuz eren's main motivation is actually connected to armin more than anyone. The freedom that eren seeks.... Armin represents that freedom. Eren along the journey... Lost his path... And ended up reaching the negative freedom. They both represent... Two sides of the same coin...both representing two wings of freedom.... Eren represents the dark wing and armin the white. It's the moment armin showed the book to eren....eren claims he only realised that he wasn't free... When he saw the look in armin's eyes. The ability to enjoy the beauty despite all its restrictions Eren lacks that quality .He can’t enjoy the beauty until he remove the cruel ness of the world . While armin genuinely cares about the outside world, Eren doesn’t care about it
The way I see it, Erwin represents the dark choice. Becoming monsters (sacrificing so many soldiers) to fight monsters. Armin represents hope. He fights for humanity's soul, and hopes and dreams. He has vision beyond the war. To me, he is the true way forward, without sacrificing your humanity.
For me, when my first watch This ep. I thought I feel good all it if one of the two (erwin or armin) got the serum. But if you have to choose I would choose Erwin because he is experienced and decisive and he it all. Yes, armin can learn more for experience. But think about it. We are humanity We have one have Experienced and one start to learn experience. Do we really have that much time? That why i choose Erwin because we don't know what going to happen. It be fast or slow? we don't know that. I look at it as if I people inside the walls. But like I said I feel like whoever survives is good for me. But first time i watch this ep. i think Armin got serum because he main character friend hahahaha. I think we'll get to see Armin perspective and more binding with him more because he more a main character than Erwin. Technically Viewers will connect with Armin more than Erwin. I think. For me, both are not my favorite characters. When I first watch this ep. it was very difficult. So I use reason instead of feeling.
I personally take it as who accomplished more throughout the years from the start of the show. Armin gave most of the plan ideas, came to the most brilliant deductions (about Annie,...) and he saved his other scout comarades by coming up with the idea of victory while sacrificing only himself. Whereas Erwin's plans always failed at the end, look how Annie escaped many times, and he came up with the idea of sacrificing every one else in the Scout. Team Armin to the END for me!!!!
These dudes started watching "anime" by being so freaking skeptical that it is hilarious that we are almost 3 whole seasons in and they are constantly at the edge of their seat while having full blown 15-20 mins 3 way debates about what is going on, not caring about the japanese language or animation no more while at the same time crying for a fictional anime character's death that one of them said they disliked the most, to think they were very convinced that weren't going to watch more than 1 or 2 episodes tops🤣🤣🤣. It would be great to do a retroespective on each one about how do they view "anime" now and compare it to how they used to view "anime" before. What changed? What part of AoT made it change / what scene stayed with them the most? And where did those old views from "anime" came from. Its clear they love the show by now but we haven't talked about why, specially now once the story gets revealed. How come language and animation style don't bother them no more?.
I'd say Erwin combines the great skillset of strategy and leadership, but if we look at Armin - he is still young, but his potential strategist ceiling is higher than Erwin, but he doesn't have the leadership, he can still deliver a great speech(like in season 1), but it's not natural for him. If we want leadership among the young ones - it's Jean, he can lead people and lift them up, but I think it's obvious that his ceiling is lower than what Erwin already was, because you need to combine good leadership with good speech skills, but Jean doesn't have the speech skills. So there is nobody as complete, as Erwin, even if Armin can potentially exceed him in strategy
I like how the sound arguement of the episode continues among all of you only with better points than the anime characters!🤣🤣🤣I think Isayama should have put your points in the manga!☺️😁👏👏👏👏👏
so basically ERWIN WAS THE RIGHT CHOICE armin got chosen because of erwin himself erwin was too fixated on a single goal which was reaching the basement HIS JOURNEY BASICALLY ENDS THERE while armins journey is about exploring stuff which is the core spirit of the survey corps HIS JOURNEY NEVER ENDS
Erwin's dream represented a selfish wish, to prove his father right in that they were not the only humans alive through what he thought was in the basement. Armin's dream was more limitless in just seeking understanding and knowledge of the world beyond the sea.
I think Armin was the better choice just based on the results of this battle. The battle had two sides: Erwin vs the Beast and "Luggage" Titans and Armin vs the Colossal and Armored Titans. Erwin hyper-fixated on protecting the horses which played directly into the Beast Titan's plans. He failed to account for the "Luggage" Titan (which he earlier acknowledged was Intelligent) and ended up sacrificing everyone to accomplish literally nothing beyond getting his own soldiers (as well as the horses he was so desperate to protect!) killed. Contrast with Armin, who was able to come up with a strategy that completely defeated both the Colossal and Armored Titans while only sacrificing himself. In fact, Reiner only got rescued because Erwin's half of the battle ended in failure. Erwin sacrificing everyone to accomplish little to nothing is a common theme to all of his plans. He's good at inspiring confidence in his men, but I think he's severely overrated in the strategy department.
When it comes to Erwin vs Armin, I don't think its "heart vs brain" I think its "angel vs devil" Who is the better option to lead humanity into the future? A devil like Erwin who is willing to do whatever needs to be done to win, or an angel like armin who is a visionary for hope in the world? I think a devil is more suited to getting results and may have the better chance in victory in doing whatever is necessary to win but when all is said and done and peace comes again, you need an angel to craft a better future for the world. So i think a devil persona is a better short-term choice but an angel persona is a better long term choice. its a tricky question
Levi genuenly picked erwin but the moment he raised hes hand refusing to get injected that wraps up everything for levi's decision that reminded him that erwin accepted hes fate the moment levi vows to kill the beast titan.
i think that Levi chose Armin because of the thing Kenny told him... "Everyone has to be drunk of something to keep going"! When Levi asked Erwin before the mission what he would do agter he accomplish his goal, he said he doesnt know... In combination when he overheard armin he saw a future, a goal, something that someone was drunk with, to keep going!
Taking erwin who sacrificed himself along with the buch of new scouts or armin who just sacrificed himself and did not let anymore deaths? I say erwin is the true suicidal bastard😂. His plans are weird and are not effective at all😂 what did erwin did? Sacrificed a lot of life just to fulfill his trivial goal on reaching a basement?😂😂😂 Everyone who thinks erwin is the better choice are dumb. You think erwin makes plans under pressure effectively?when he lead the titan towards reiner and bertholt and planned the suicide charge? You are crazy up there to even think that a great leader would think of that idea amidst chaos ... You call that leadership? He really proved that he was a spawn of the devil😂 if anyone can rebut this idea i would gladly educate thier ignorant minds.
8:10 Eren leaving out the facts that 1)Eren would've been killed by the MP after his trial. 2)Eren, Mikasa and/or armin would've died to the titan after plugging Trost (if erwin didn't go back to trost based of his hunch of the wall being breached, due to weird titan behavior) 3&4)Eren would've been captured by Annie TWICE 5)Eren would've been killed by the MP once again in Stohess (tho half credits to Armin for that) 6)Eren would've been captured by Reiner and Bertholdt. 7)Rod reiss would've killed everyone. Meanwhile Armin is the savoir of humanity cause he got lucky by knowing Annie. He should've been dead multiple times in season 1. Tho I accept Levi's choice, cause he's the GOAT
you’re missing the point, It’d not like Eren was trying to compare them and say Armin’s more important and downplay everything Erwin has done. He was trying to prove that Armin is someone just as important and deserved to be valued because first glance your comparing the commander with just another scout, the choice would obviously be the commander but that wasn’t the case here. It’s also worth mentioning that the decision wasn’t made solely based on their achievements and what they’ve done as there’s several other factors that went into the decision
The first time I watched this episode, it's midnight and I'm alone. The experience was heart-wrenching. I'm really torn and confused. I find it much harder to watch than Ep17. 😭 My personal choice is Erwin coz I understand Levi and Hange stand. He is the Commander. But then my heart broke for Armin.
I think most part of the motive for Levi let Erwin die was because of Floch. You can see Levi's shocked expression when Floch said he was about to finish Erwin, but that was too soft for him. I honestly wanted to see how Erwin would deal with all the shit about to come, but maybe finding out the truth he would lost motivation, since the truth was Erwin's objective since start... Well, we'll never know. Do you think Erwin's lost arm would regenerate? I'm not sure since it was already healed.

Levi said “keep your emotions out of this” but he himself was using his emotions to make this decision before the episode started
I kept thinking about this notion as I drew Erwin's final moments."
This combined with Kenny's quote "Everyone has to be drunk on something" tells us why Erwin died and not Armin.
@@xuannhung7038 yeah I agree that was selfish and personal act from Levi. Levi did that like his friend not like his soldier and let him rest🫱🏻🫲🏼
Glad yall remembered Moblit
This is like one of the most tense episode in the whole show. No sountrack, no music, just voices and silence... it was executed so beautifully.
Another underrated moment is when Eren recognizes that he was only motivated by avenging his mother and hating the titans...
"The only thoughts in my head are full of hate-but he's not like that." is such a poignant and important thing to say.
yep people think that eren cares about the sea BUT in truth he doesnt
he only cares what that sea will bring to him which is FREEDOM

- After telling Connie and Sasha to stop hesitating and crying over Reiner, it was Jean that decided to save him and used the syringe as an excuse
- This is the first time it got revealed to us what was the question Erwin asked his father in the classroom
- Levi’s decision of choosing Armin is very complex that includes a lot of feelings regarding both Armin and Erwin that i don’t have a full grasp on to discuss
@@yobama9880 I think Armin is also the closest in character and dreams to Isabel and Furlan...maybe it was at least a small part of what made him take that decision
He himself is kind of a mix of Mikasa and Eren but his friends were the ones who kept dreaming of a better life on the surface, they were aiming for the sky, not the sea, but their genuine enthusiasm and never ending hope definitely sustained Levi in that hopeless life in the underground city
Hange is like that too actually ....they have that light and drive to achieve greater things and never be discouraged
I think it’s great that Biraj is wanting Erwin to live, because he’s the one to foreshadow Armin and Colossal Titan 😂
RIP Erwin, Moblit, Marlo…
I love how u guys can aknowledge that there is a rational choice and there is a choice that we the viewers might prefer that goes against the rational one... the rational choice is made when we try to immerse ourselves in the show as if it is real life, and the choice that comes with the hearts is us aknowledging that we are watching a fictional story and we have preferences...
After seeing his back story, I feel so bad for Captain Levi. His first friends died, his mom is dead, his uncle, his entire squad, and he's just had to watch all of them die every. Single. Time.
Right? I always felt like it wasn’t his talents that make him “Humanity’s Strongest Soldier.” It’s the losses he’s had to endure and still keep going.
@ Yes exactly
11:27 Random Guy? You must say that in front of 199 other "random" guys' corpses.
Nah bro f*** Floch 😂😂😂
The decision is so well physically represented, too:
Erwin wants to go down into the dark, damp hole in the ground.
@@qyn69 how tf you even except ppl to not die in aot universe, like erwin took the most advantage from his comrades death, so fym he killed them
@@momo_mez oh so if you are in that universe you'd follow him even if it kills you. Good for you then.
@@qyn69 with that mentality there would be no scouts regiment
For me the choice was Armin. Erwin has always made his strategies around sacrificing his soldiers. 3 seasons and every plan sacrificed portions of the survey corp. Armin would sacrifice himself for the cause and willingly give up his dream. Erwin had to have Levi make the choice for him because he wanted to reach the basement.
ur saying this like erwin wasn’t sacrificing his life whole time
@lvcrmamil No more than any other scout imo. Him going outside the walls, being around titans isn't special.
@@chantellepierre7494 so he was risking his life? he sacrificed himself too he asked levi about this so he would be even more confident
@@lvcrmamil if levi had given opposite answer he would have done that
that erwins face saying thank you is basically him saying
'thank you levi for not turning me into a bad guy , thank you for keeping me sane'
and because of levi's response
erwin became the TRUE leader that survey corps leader is known for
Erwin said himself that getting to the truth is more important than saving humanity.
Awesome reaction and discussions guys!
01:46 i was intently looking at Zeke when he uttered those and when my eyes shifted to Rowan lmao!!! 😂😂😂 👀👀
Many argued about Erwin rejecting the serum was intentional but in my opinion i think he’s really just hallucinating in the last moments of his life and is already unconscious.
Some of the best episodes in anime history. The conflict of having to choose between Erwin and Armin is so heart-wrenching.
3 vids in a row this makes me so happy 🥺
You gotta also remember that Erwin was and will always be ready to sacrifice anyone to move forward. Erwin killed everybody along with him while Armin sacrificed his own life alone. He will always try to save as much people as possible compared to Erwin.
E.g The Trost Battle. His plan ensured that a lot of the military were secured on top of the wall as decoys to avoid casualties.

I remember in this episode, I was very sad about Armin's death and I cried too.

Rowan : "Now, it will be beautiful to see Armin's growth" . I.......don't know about that. All's fucked now.

Levi always has to make the hardest decisions T-T . Losing Erwin, was really depressing
😭😭
The never ending argument of selfish vs selfless😂😂😂
Theorise what's gonna happen next, discuss the episode ❌️
Selfish vs selfless ✅️
@AstroAngelss the juxtaposition of selfless vs selfish

6:17 Thank you , I agree with you and until now I still choose Erwin, even though I love Armin , but I cannot give up Erwin 😭😭😭❤🔥Erwin is an irreplaceable leader.
Part of the calculation is that once Erwin reaches the basement, will he still be the same commander?
Erwin only led troops to death, while Armin came up with plans that didnt get everyone killed. Erwins goal/dream ends at the basement, while Armins goal/dream goes beyond the walls to the ocean

I almost went crazy listening to him😂😂😂
Bertholdt died the same way as Marco.

Eren is the protagonist but armin is actually the character we see the story through or I should rather say....
The ability to enjoy the beauty despite all its restrictions
Eren lacks that quality .He can’t enjoy the beauty until he remove the cruel ness of the world . While armin genuinely cares about the outside world,
Eren doesn’t care about it
Im instantly burstlaughing when Rowan start saying about how his Socks sweaty at the end 😂
11:26 lmao my first reaction to floch as well
The way I see it, Erwin represents the dark choice.
I WOULD CHOOSE ERWIN
*7:37** Him: "Who is this random bloke?"; Me: ~laughs in season 4~* 👀
I like how the sound arguement of the episode continues among all of you only with better points than the anime characters!🤣🤣🤣I think Isayama should have put your points in the manga!☺️😁👏👏👏👏👏
so basically ERWIN WAS THE RIGHT CHOICE
armin got chosen because of erwin himself
erwin was too fixated on a single goal which was reaching the basement HIS JOURNEY BASICALLY ENDS THERE
while armins journey is about exploring stuff which is the core spirit of the survey corps
HIS JOURNEY NEVER ENDS
7:38 i’m asking the same to this day man 😭😭😭
i think that Levi chose Armin because of the thing Kenny told him...
Sacrificed a lot of life just to fulfill his trivial goal on reaching a basement?😂😂😂
Everyone who thinks erwin is the better choice are dumb.
25:13 I get Rowan’s frustration and hate towards Floch bro like why is that guy alive and not Marlo
6:23 素晴らしい反応😂
8:10 Eren leaving out the facts that
1)Eren would've been killed by the MP after his trial.
2)Eren, Mikasa and/or armin would've died to the titan after plugging Trost (if erwin didn't go back to trost based of his hunch of the wall being breached, due to weird titan behavior)
3&4)Eren would've been captured by Annie TWICE
5)Eren would've been killed by the MP once again in Stohess (tho half credits to Armin for that)
6)Eren would've been captured by Reiner and Bertholdt.
6:10 Rowan and Rivas speak from emotion, and with this I agree.
Biraj speaks from the mind, and with this I do also agree.
(While I do acknowledge both, I personally in fond of choosing Erwin, he has the trust of many people, that's important for survival)
*12:52** Biraj* 😆🤣
The first time I watched this episode, it's midnight and I'm alone. The experience was heart-wrenching. I'm really torn and confused. I find it much harder to watch than Ep17. 😭
My personal choice is Erwin coz I understand Levi and Hange stand. He is the Commander. But then my heart broke for Armin.
Armin the collosal titan....why do the timid non violent ones end up with the most destructive titan
I have never watched the full aot but thanks to you I could
I think most part of the motive for Levi let Erwin die was because of Floch.
Now the best part of the show begins
11:33 u need to acknowledge and admire Levi strength on punching Eren and made Eren lost his all of Eren's left cheeks teeth lol
Levi didn’t make the decision to save Armin. Levi made a selfish decision to let Erwin rest in peace.
