    Lyrics
    Beating
Heart still beating for the cause
    Feeding
Soul still feeding from the loss
    Aching
Limbs are aching from the rush
    Fading
You are fading from my sight
Break of morning, coldness lingers on
Shroud me into nightmares of the sun
    Moving
I am moving closer to your side
    Luring
You are luring me into the night
    Crying
Who is crying for you here
    Dying
I am dying fast inside your tears
    Plunging towards bereavement faster yet
Clearing thoughts, my mind is set
    Devious movements in your eyes
    Moved me from relief
Breath comes out white clouds with your lies
    And filters through me
You're close to the final word
You're staring right past me in dismay
A liquid seeps from your chest
    And drains me away
Mist ripples round your thin white neck
    And draws me a line
Cold fingers mark this dying wreck
    This moment is mine
    Help me cure you
    Atone for all you've done
    Help me leave you
As all the days are gone
    Night fall again
    Taking what's left of me
    Slight twist, shivering corpse
Ornated with water, fills the cracks
Clasped in my limbs by tradition
    This is all you need

@Jevgeni Chernov I'm seeing them in concert in February. Small venue too. Should be loud. I came across them because I was a child of 70s prog and was interested in modern prog. Turns out I like their use of the death growl too (although i did a little research on its origins to better understand it).

Damn man, you must have made some real evolution in your tastes. I'm jealous, you were alive with Led Zepplin and Jimi Hendrix were starting out, might have been a young lad. But you've been around for all the greatest bands I've wished I could see in their prime and grow up with. You were alive when Black Sabbath was just getting started. Now here you are, listening to Opeth..... I think Metal is on the decline though, when I'm 61 I'm betting I won't be discovering great bands like Opeth, probably some Electronic Dance Music or some Dubstep shit will be all there is then. Hope I'm wrong.

@@aarons720 There will always be Simon and Garfunkel. Life is as much about re-discovering things as it is about discovering. Metal was something I never went near as a teen. Led Zeppilin was as heavy as I got. The last while has been about checking all the bands I didn't listen to. There was a ton of '60s psych to catch up on because I too young for it at the time. The '60s and '70s is like a bottomless pit of good, but obviously there's a lot of great stuff in the last 20 years as well. It's why we have ears. And yes, it was an incredible time to be listening to music. Luckily, listening to Dark Side of the Moon, or Led Zeppilin IV for the first time is just as as incredible whether it's 1972 or 2020.

The chorus of Fixxxer, the last few measures of the outro solo from Fade To Black, that one guitar harmony from The Call Of Ktulu, the final chorus/outro to The Unforgiven, the fourth verse from Nothing Else Matters, the intro to Blackened, the outro to Wecome Home/Sanitarium, the interlude to Master Of Puppets, the interlude to Orion, the intro to Battery, and not even a Metallica song, the final chorus from Chop Suey! by System Of A Down.

Any Opeth fan knows it's incredibly hard to choose a favorite song, but there's always been something so RIGHT about the composition of this one. The guitar parts, however many they are, just flow so perfectly from one section to the next. And that bridge before the final chorus? Oh my God, how is there so much going on and it all sounds so...unified? It's like there's only one instrument being played, and it is creating all of those sounds all at once.

@@amanshelare719 If you're still looking for something in a similar realm of progressive metal, I strongly recommend 'Ashes Against the Grain' by Agalloch, 'Words That Go Unspoken, Deeds That Go Undone' by Akercocke, either of the Alkaloid albums, or 'Isa' by Enslaved (or really anything they've put out since that album). Those have long been my go-to choices whenever I'm craving metal that does a lot of genre bending, but I need a break from my Opeth records. lol
I find that the some of the fretless bass and melodic choices in Beyond Creation really bring me back to Morningrise / Orchid-era Opeth, but filtered through a MUCH more technical death metal lens. Their first album is especially great if that sounds appealing.
      Cheers!

This album stands out in Opeth discography, because it was not only produced by Steven Wilson, but also mixed by him (he mixed only this album). Blackwater Park is the most full and dynamic sounding album of Opeth. The level of detail put by Wilson is astounding. In my opinion, in a song/album, composition is only 50%, producing/mixing/mastering is the other 50%.

    • @soakedbearrd
      @soakedbearrd 3 года назад +1

I really wish they would remaster orchid through MAYH. Especially morningrise and MAYH because those are masterpiece albums that suffer from mixing and production. Also Ghost of Perdition is pretty well mixed and produced and can hold its own with Blackwater park, but I get what you are saying.

Wonderful! Majestic piece of progressive death metal. The riff and the main line at 3:14; the progression at 4:25 (with that constant line of the electric guitar, in the background); the smooth changes at 5:05 and 5:21; the reprise at 6:41, with the main line revisited at 7:20 are just amongst what is most beautiful in this world.

    • @marcoramirez642
      @marcoramirez642 8 месяцев назад

6:41 is the best... but why do you consider it a reprise? Which previous section or ideas is the basis to make it a reprise? I do not get it, always thought it as a unique part on the song.
