Transcript FiveatFive E40 Talk with Ina Regen
Translation German into English Patricia. H. Tom/Conchita/WURST Fan Corner Deutschland
    Tom: Hello, Welcome to FiveatFive.
I am looking forward to a lovely conversation today. With the fabulous Ina Regen
    Greetings
    IR: Hi
Tom: We thought we would go outside a little bit.
IR: Exactly, cause it so nice outside and because of the holiday today.
Tom: You are looking great. You are shining. Splendid.
IR: I just come from playing the piano. From the muse’s kiss. And there you always shining a little bit.
    Tom: Really?
    IR: Yes
Tom: Where are you right now? Tell me.
IR: I am in Schönbrunn. If I have the honour to talk to the Queen of Europe. Then I will show you briefly your summer residence.
Tom: Several days ago, I talked with Julia.
    IR: Yes, I stalked you
Tom: And we have to connect to it. Just tell us.
IR: It was 2012. Pre-Election ESC at the ORF. I had been there as background singer for several years.
And also that year the call was coming if I would like to be present for an artist. Its about Conchita Wurst. And I. Well, bravo. I said. Of course, I am doing it. I was very happy about it. I can remember that it was very short-term. Call Monday evening. Rehearsal Tuesday morning.
Tom: And on Saturday in the show. We had so much fun. I am not getting tired to tell that.
IR: That is that studio in that I am recording my album. Already my first and not again. How these little mosaic stones fit together. This is killing me. As soon as I think it from a distance again. Who came up the story? It is too good.
Tom: You also made your education in upper Austria. I talked with Severin, that so many good people are coming from upper Austria. Why?
IR: I think this music school is very extensive. It exists already for 40 years. That means in several generations. And of course, you can feel that somehow, when music becomes so central to everyday life.
Tom: What that a little bit at home like: Oh my God, music.
IR: Yes, yes. After graduating from high school, my parents and my family weren´t so enthusiastic that I now want to be a musician. There was a lot of discussions. I passed the second entrance exam in secret. I told nobody.
Tom: I did not know that. How strange. Rebel.
IR: That was my only revolutionary act in my life.
And them you came. Since then, everyone has loved me anyway.
Tom: The legendary night where we were sitting on my roof terrace and you played “Wie a Kind”
IR: And you sent me a message during the night if I can send it to you right now, for that you can hear it again. 5 to 10 minutes later you sent me a very tearful voice message. Ina, I don´t know what to say. I really noticed how you were struggling with yourself. That meant a lot to me. I have to tell you. It was so much appreciation and so much love and what the music does. This was incredible for me.
Tom: The number, the lyrics. It is clear and direct. Anyone can deal with it.
IR: I am thanking you. Somewhere here in one of these corridors I remembered the first 4 lines.
    Tom: Great
IR: The first lines were created in my head in a radius of 100 meters.
Tom: How did you do it. Did you sing it into your cell phone?
IR: I only wrote down the text. It seldom with me that I come to clear. I noticed. Wow now more is coming. I don´t know. I took my feet and went home as quickly I could. Then I was sitting at the piano. Then it actually happened surprisingly quickly. During I was sitting at the piano at home and was singing it again and again, to try out in creative intoxication. I noticed more and more how it became a dialect. Well, just a minute.
Tom: Then you always write it so hard. That I am thinking why she is doing this to herself.
I sang it briefly in the medley for the Amadeus. And I thought to myself. Wow are you foolish. It is so hard.
IR: You are insane. You sang it in the original pitch.
Tom: Well we know each other.
And then we cannot forget a song. “ Hearst As Net” This was a hit.
    I just had another proposal.
IR: Actually you wanted to sing something from Waltraud Haas.
Tom: I wanted to make with you “ Mariandl”. Good that you made another proposal. And then we noticed. Oops that will be something.
IR: We just downloaded it on RUclips. Just like you do it these days. And the next morning my mother is calling me. You have to switch at once to Ö3. Then there had been world premiere at Ö3. And I like that. Dude, I ain´t packing my life anymore. I have to say about that. At that time, I was still
a music schoolteacher. And actually, wanted a solid life.
Tom: One of your highlights. Your appearance at the Donauinselfest
IR: Actually, the Donauinselfest had been on my bucket list since I was 15. It went so fast with me. It was my 5th concert and then in front of 80.000 people.
Tom: Of course, you were singing as a bell. And then AAMA. As I said we are coming from one highlight to the other.
IR: Now that you are say that.
But let me sprinkle roses for you for a moment, very publicly. In find your moderation. You are doing so great. It is very entertaining. It has such a colourful course of emotions, from extremely funny, critical, charming and entertaining. I take off all hats. Since you are hosting the Amadeus it Is a world class event. I have to tell you.
Tom: I love the Amadeus. I love the event. I love it when all are coming together. I love it when we are celebrating each other.
You were very eager at the beginning of the pandemic.
IR: When things get worse somewhere. And then such a crisis. Does not matter if it is private or global right now. I am at once on the spot. Ok what we have to do that all are feeling better. Quickly I was active at Facebook. At the begin of the crises I wrote every day an entry into my diary. And shared my thoughts. This resulted in a wonderful exchange with my fans. We came closer, although we are on social distance. Everyone is so isolated for themselves and at the same time we long for people. And I thought. I would like to give a concert. And then I had on my first streaming living room concert in total 80.000 views. During the peak time 3000 people had been online at the same time.
Tom. One it not, not excited.
    IR: I was so nervous.
    Tom: Isn´t it.
IR: Just before I thought. I would run away if it would be not my own place.
Tom: It is absurd, because you go out and do have a live audience. Then you are sitting at home. Before you push the button, you are scared to death.
IR: You will soon play this Steaming Austria concert.
    Tom: On Sunday. Exactly.
IR: I am really looking forward to it.
    Tom: Me too.
IR: It´s so weird. Then the song stops. This 1 second and then comes the applause. And it just doesn´t come.
Tom: What are your projects? You are writing your new album. Or are you already produce it. Where are we right now?
IR: Honestly, I stopped doing plans. Well I am working on my second album. It calls Rot. It shall be released during the autumn or next spring. Let’s see. Since everything is interrelated and that has such long lead times. At the moment it is very complicated. But I use this current situation to write new material. Even if it is the case the album will be released later in time. Then it will have been good for something. Maybe because now songs are being created that urgently need to be put on that album.
Tom: I am looking forward to your output. I am happy when I see you the next time.
IR: It was great chatting with you. Greetings to you all. Thanks for watching. See you soon.
Tom: Thank You. Everybody for watching. That was very lovely. So many things we did together in such a short time actually.
This was FiveatFive at the park. We see each other tomorrow. Kisses.
