A walking miracle on the globe. Number one in the entire history of piano performers. Many years ago I got a BFA in piano performance. But I have never seen anyone like her in my 85 years.
Date and Time: Sat Jan 28 2023 4pm Venue: Carnegie Hall, New York City Soloist: Yuja Wang Orchestra: Philadelphia Orchestra Conductor: Yannick Nézet-Séguin Program: Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No.2 Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No.1 Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No.4 Rachmaninoff Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No.3 “Dance of the Blessed Spirits” from Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice, arranged by Giovanni Sgambati (encore) 2023 is Rachmaninoff’s 150th birth anniversary
Absolute perfection - and to think she was called to sit in for a pianist who got sick last minute. She mesmerized that audience. Luck is preparation, timing, opportunity, and state of MIND. YUJA - the best in the WORLD
BEAUTIFUL 5 DRESSES FOR EACH CONCERT PLAY. SHES SO MODEST AND SO TALENTED PLAYING THAT COMPOSERS MUSIC. IVE READ IT IS VERY HARD TO PLAY HIS INTENSE MUSIC. SHE IS A WALKING MUSICAL GENIUS FROM ALL HER HARD WORK 🎉💞💗💖💝🥀💐🎵🎼🎵🎹
Aparte del enorme talento y ser una de las mejores pianistas a nivel mundial, es divertida, fresca es alegre, joven tiene la figura y elegancia para llevar esos trajes
She’s like running an ultra marathon but at the piano. My admiration goes mainly to the audience who have to listen Rachmaninoff for more than 3 hours 😅
Sitting in the rafters, I was so focused on her fingerings and the general line of the pieces, in the finale of the night, the Rach 3, the sparkles on her dress shimmered all the way up to the very last row of the balcony. It was simply breathtaking...
I was up in the balcony. She barely broke a sweat! All of the short breaks they had built didn't even give her a breather. She must've use them to change her dresses. 😱
I don't know why but I always worried that she would do those "abrupt" bowing in front of the piano and struck her head 😂 But otherwise, amazing performance as always 😀
On January 28, 2023, pianist Yuja Wang joined The Philadelphia Orchestra and conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin at Carnegie Hall for a once-in-a-lifetime, all-Rachmaninoff marathon that featured the composer's four piano concertos plus his Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini.
Playing what must amount to a good bit over 2 hours of Rachmaninoff at full speed as a PERFORMANCE is incredible. Hands and forearms would surely be in agony by then.

she's amazing. we know that. but my question is the practicality?? Was the concert split with a large intermission? Or did the audience actually stay there for the hours it would have taken to perform those? I'm legitimately interested
Don’t worry, I assure you, as an audience member there would be multiple breaks for a concert like this. If not between every concerto (as well as the Theme/Variations), then for every second piece. Given the right length, you can easily have marathon concerts where an audience sits transfixed while, say, a string of sonatas or preludes are played. But for concertos, not only are they too long and the physical strain on the audience too great, but any director would recognize that one needs a time to reflect on each performance so that all of the pieces don’t string together and end up sounding like a disorganized and incoherent cacophony of sound. So if you’re planning on going to a concert like this any time soon, then I’m sure you’ll have a great time😉
I am a fan of her playing, but need to question the purpose of playing 5 concertos in one night? Was it to win the piano olympics? What was the quality of the music making? Was the audience even capable of sharing in it all? After all, what is the primary purpose of making music?
ummm, CHANNEL! credit the artists! (orchestra, conductor). Give dates and composition names. I mean, please. This is basic. ALSO yes I saw that somebody (@py8554) posted the info in the comments, thankfully, but it should have been the CHANNEL doing so.
She's killing those dresses, I love it

I like her personality too
Et ce qui ne gâche rien, elle est très mignonne ☺️☺️☺️🌻🌻🌻
This pianist must have enormous physicall resistance !!!! How is possible ?? A wizard more than pianist?
Aparte de ser la mejor pianista del mundo es una mujer con un cuerpo tallado a mano y sus vestimentas espectaculares una belleza de mujer
Donde deja el romanticismo, la sutilidad el encanto de una Marta Argerich por ejemplo?
No other world class pianist on 🌎 Earth bends so low and flexibly like Yuja Wang when bowing... 👏 🤔 💭 🤔
Да, это великолепно и её поклоны оригинальны и запоминающийся. Молодец! 🌐🕊️
It's all about the visual show
How gorgeous 😍😍😍😍😍

Those silver boots are killing the game ❤
I couldnt imagine being able to play 1 Rachmaninoff concerto never mind 5 in one night, godamn!
One of the 5 was not a concerto but actually the Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. Also, the plural of "concerto" is "concerti."
I didn’t hear a thing she played. 😜😍
